You know why this is done?
He wants to continue to control everything that happens in the country. But not all bitcoin transactions are subject to him so he is nervous and want to cover it up.So he's not as bad as all see,but not God's dandelion.

Regulations is inevitable and everyone should just accept that and run with the idea. No government will allow a currency that

would bypass all their local laws and regulations. {They will want some control} So give up the idea that Bitcoin will not be

controlled by governments. {They have all the power to do what they want and most of these governments were given that

power by the people who voted for them in the elections.} If they do not allow for Crypto currencies, you should not vote for

them. { It is that easy }

Update :
It is official putin has announced that they are going to regulate crytpo. Here's his statement : We have agreed on the following: the state should regulate the process of issuing cryptocurrencies, the process of mining, the process of circulation…The state should head this situation and regulate it legally
From the above replies many are stating that he simply wants the price to fall so that he can purchase in lower price for now the price has reached at it's highest peak maybe he really wanted this to happen.

Putin is good for his own country. For the decisions he made afterall may be bad news for us though. Each countries decision on bitcoin can affect prices as a whole. So it will be good to observe closely

There are rumors that Putin has more than 100,000 beatcoins on his accounts. Perhaps that's why he does not want to regulate crypto-currencies. And in general, there is a game in the politics of who is playing whom. Crypto-currencies in the future are likely to replace banks and their system. Putin and Gref understand this. Therefore, they can not regulate, but it will not be possible to ligate too quickly, because bankers have a significant influence on politics.

For me the answer is obvious. Who is Putin singing football fans all over the world. Russian or immature people, or most of them psychology of slaves. Another explanation for the fact that they like Putin, I don't know. Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome? In order to understand who Putin is sufficient to see what is the average salary in Russia. I'm not talking about the medicine and everything else.

Putin is a wise guy. And he is a crypto currency holder. He just testing out his influence with regards with the crypto market. Just few months ago, he was in the meeting with ETH founder Vitalik to discuss the possibility of creating a crypto currency in Russia. See the news here:

https://www.coindesk.com/vladimir-putin-vitalik-buterin-discuss-ethereum-opportunities-recent-forum/

If the Bitcoin banning in Russia is true. and you are from Russia, just HOLD your BTC, do not withdraw it, Putin wants you to drop your coin so he can buy them very cheap at the dip. Now whos the looser.

Since yesterday news has been circulating that russia is going to introduce barriers to crypto currencies because it is being used for illegal activities, tax evasion , etc etc.
Today bitcoin news came out with another article that putin doesn't want the central bank to put too many unnecessary barriers and it is relevant for the whole world.
What do you think?

Putin is good. This guy has common sense so tell me otherwise. This guy is wise enough to survive as a former spy all these years and that says a lot about him. And also his ability to overcome political pressures from lobbyist even though he's a politician himself.

as long as i can remember, someone in Russia has been saying the same things. the subjects are always taxation of bitcoin transactions and the illegal stuff that may be done with it. so far they have not done anything about it though.

it is obviously a bad thing if they even talk negatively or finally do something about it like banning bitcoin but in the end it wouldn't matter for bitcoin in long term.

Russia is one of the countries that has the least regularization of cryptos. I don't know why they would ban or put barriers to use them. Take a look what happened when China banned the ICOs. The next
week that it happened, Japan licensed 11 new exchanges to operate in their country. Messing with the banks is the only thing they can do so the good thing we can take out of this is that bitcoin will always
keep decentralized. Bad for Russia to make this move and I hope this is only speculation.

I agree that putin news  are often fake, and it is can bring a profit for interested people. However as i know russian goverment is rather loyal for bitcoin. And it is very well discribed - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqhuWGjJ8_Q&t=3119s

I really think putin had put a good thing to this because he is saying in the article to central banks to not create unnecessary barriers to Cryptocurrencies, and not the other way around He just stressed the importance to not “build up unnecessary barriers” for new technologies and not with bitcoin because there is certain risk with other Crypto.

the only thing that i care about is bitcoin and the fact that it will remain decentralized. no matter what different countries do and what rules they put in place for it, nothing will change about bitcoin and the fact that it is decentralized.

apparently the market no longer cares about it either. the Russian news has been circulating everywhere from nearly 2 days ago and price has been rising ever since. maybe people caught up to these facts!

he is da best president in the world now. He know a lot about bitcoin and blockchain and he love btc btw

In the world of mordor maybe.
Largest country in Europe largest oil and gas deposits , tons of precious minerals huge agriculture potential and yet the russians are one of the poorest in europe, they have a life expectancy closer to africa , more drug addicts than the us , 500 000 other die each year due to vodka overdose and the highest number of prostitutes in europe.

Tens of journalist die in accidents corruption is sky high and you call him the best president in the world?

Luckily for us people realize that the russian economic impact on cryptos is to tiny to be considered so nobody cares about them banning unbanning legalizing and criminalizing bitcoin

This statement was very ambiguous, basically he said that cryptocurrencies will not be banned but will be regulated, but he didn't specify how exactly they will be regulated. Maybe they will be allowed only with government permissions and users would have to report all they transactions. Maybe they will just apply usual taxes and KYC and that will be it. He was also talking about "digital currencies" and not only Bitcoin - it means that different currencies might get a different treating. But either way it's a very weak news, China didn't manage to crash Bitcoin and they have majority of miners and a strong economy - Russia has neither, so their influence on crypto is very small.

Russia have been flip flopping for years already on bitcoin.  The fact they are talking about it is a good compliment.  I remember 2-3 years ago when all the russians got banned from trading on BTC-e.  Seems like they are trying to be the new china but dont have the mining power to be very relevant.

Since last two day, the news about Russia banning bitcoin is circulating in the market but no one is sure about the authenticity of that news. That was published in a crypto related blog out of nowhere. That is the reason why the news didn't have any impact on the price of bitcoin. Also it makes no sense to put too many barriers around their people in the name of tax evasion. Because no country can survive alone with the direct tax paid by their citizens. The income of any country depends majorly on the export and indirect taxes and Russia is one of the biggest exporters of war machinery and natural gas. Putting a barrier around bitcoin will not have much impact on their economy, but the government will end up making few enemies.

But even the news posted currently again doesn't have any authenticity. So I believe I can happily ignore that and wait for an authentic source for the correct news to come out.
