Duel? That would be awesome.
Not sure how would I throw such event but once again you gave me something to think about.
--a lot of snipping--
So after few days thinking and weighing, here's the idea, IDK if any of you will like it or not, but (mehh...) I better just spill it and see your reaction. I am sure Poptok1 will also appreciate if you all give your vote toward this idea. If you don't like it, then Poptok1 will only need to disregard this idea, no hard feeling... especially because I have other, more complicated, more costly (or more rewarding for the other side), and more difficult to achieve idea (which probably will be less preferable, hence I propose the simpler one)
I am aware that at this point, I am and Cent21 are the only one ever cast, and I suspect that is because our grimmoire is not too broad, at least that was what I think whenever I am paging through the scroll (Lets cast, uhh... wait, there's nothing evilish enough to cast), and even Cent21's cast earlier today (I suspected) was because he finally found the hidden and precious spell (I guess that is a level 2 spell). Ok, enough of the preface.
First, the nature of this spell.1. Having a considerably bad outcome, I think it should be considered as a
DARK SPELL, one that -when succeeded- will drains all of the caster's Mana
(Dark? Eve Levine will only rolled her eyes, and I think Savannah and Tori will find them easy to cast)
2. Being a relatively dangerous spell, then I guess it belonged to a
level 2 Spell, where the caster needs at least 4 mana or even more
(question here: when and what should we do to ascend from an level 1 apprentice to level 2 sorcerer?)
Second, the outcomeThis dark spell is rumored to enable a sorcerer (or a sorceress) to challenge other user and
rob an equal points the caster currently have from the opponent, IF he wins. But it can also backfire, if he lose, the result will be exactly the opposite where all of his point will be deducted and transferred to the opponent (see? Dangerous, hence it is Dark Spell).
Of course, the opponent can deflect the spell by simply ignoring the duel invitation. When this is the case, the original caster will only lost 4 mana (or the minimum mana required to cast, or maybe only 2) instead of all of his mana, and the deflector (the opponent) will not lose anything. But, should the opponent choose to accept the duel, stated by counter-casting the same spell toward the challenger, he'll also wager all of his mana as well as the same point the challenger currently have.
When, and only when, both sorcerer acknowledge the duel, whoever wins the first puzzle Poptok 1 give AFTER both party accepting (and thus, counter-casting) the spell, will be considered the winner.
Confused? Let's go to a case, using the leaderboard today.

Mike8 (currently have 5M and 13p) is the challenger
Miiike (currently have 7M and 19p) is the challenge..e? (What is the word for someone being challenged? Lets use the terms "opponent")
Mike8 have 5M and thus supposed to be able to cast the said Dark Spell (although maybe merely having the sufficient mana is not enough, the caster also need to be a sorcerer instead of apprentice but for the sake of example, lets say both Mike is eligible to cast that higher spell), so he cast and aiming toward Miiike.
The spell will lasts
48 hours and will expire (or considered deflected) if Miiike didn't counter his spell, saying "No, thank you, maybe next time, ciao" or simply not replying within the time limit.
Here's what happen next:
Miiike refuse or not replying within 48 hoursMike8 spell just thwarted, throwing away 4M for nothing, his position is now 1M and 13p.
Miiike position is still at 7M and 19p as he deflect (or maybe now he only got 6M as a penalty for deflecting a cast?)
No duel happened. End of story. Sorry Mike8 and what a coward you are Miiike.
Miiike acceptMiiike and Mike8 will enter a dueling phase where from the next puzzle after Miiike acknowledge and counter Mike8's spell until a winner is determined, will be a duel between them. The winner is determined by beating the opponent to claim first.
Suppose...
Mike8 cast on Sunday
Miiike accept and counter-cast on Monday.
However, Tuesday puzzle is won by Cent21, then the dueling phase will still continue to Wednesday.
However, Wednesday puzzle is won by kosmoKisa, then the dueling phase will still continue to Thursday.
On Thursday, some of them finally manage to claim before any other else, thus he is the winner.
If the winner turns out to be Miiike, then the current position will be
Miiike 0M and 32p (19p of his own + 13p of Mike8)
Mike8 0M and 0p
If the winner turns out to be Mike8, then the current position will be
Miiike 0M and 6p (13p deducted from his collection)
Mike8 0M and 26p (13p of his own + 13p of Miiike)
Wow, what a long post. I hope you all agree or can give some input to tweak this idea to bring an even more interesting system. Remember, if most (or any) of you don't agree, just said so and I am completely fine with the idea being rejected.
