One of the mandatory reading for beginners:
~ Newbies - Read before posting By Lauda
~ next update
From the thread of Lauda, newbies can find links to many other topics that can answer almost all questions from newbies.

I said so because that thread mentioned and linked to many sticky threads in [Bitcointalk sticky threads] Newbies - read before starting and even threads that are not pinned.

If newbies actually "read before posting", they don't need to create many topics to ask.

Often the threads I create are considered useless by other members, if this one also seems useless then I will lock it  Cheesy

I am very curious what was your motive for creating such a thread in which you only left a link to a pinned thread created by Lauda. I guess you thought there was a reason why Lauda's thread was locked.

I'll keep this thread on page 1. I see Lauda's thread has been locked so beginners can't comment there.

This is the announcement of the spamfest thread. An excellent place to fill out a quota signature. What could go wrong
Also, don't get me wrong, but you're still a newbie in some way, you've only been on the forum for a few months. I am not sure that you are ready enough to give newbies answers to all their doubts.

I can remember vividly around the first of April when @thymos, in collaboration with @powerglove, launched a captcha task that must be solved before you can login.
Lol, that was an innocuous April fool's joke.
If this idea of yours is considered and then put in as an instruction to newbies and new account openers, it will surely stop.
What sort of instruction, you can't dictate to any user in what thread they should post in, neither can you stop them from creating their own posts, if you think the posts are of really low quality, then report it to the moderators and let them handle it.
When it is marked red or even attached to a sanction, the problem will be solved. I think that's one of the ways the problem of newbie introduction posts can be stopped.
When what is marked red? If newbies want to introduce themselves then let them go ahead. I'm not going to quote the post, but Theymos already said he'll not be doing anything to limit newbie participation in the forum after he removed the newbie jail, so any suggestion like this isn't welcomed. OP can lock this topic, newbies won't use it.

On my local board there is a thread like the title above that allows any newbie to ask and other members will answer. I see a lot of newbies making threads about how they are still beginners and need guidance. In my opinion, if there is a thread like this then they don't need to create a new thread and can just ask anything about the forum in this thread. I won't make a guide, because there are already many guide threads on this board

There are many similar ideas that other contributors have thought of before you - but these never work. But the question is - what makes this thread so appreciated by beginners who tend to ignore existing threads and create new threads just because they want to ask?

If they want to know a lot about the forum - then show them this thread: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

I understand what you mean because we are on the same local board. Yes, it's true that in local Indonesian board, threads like this are very effective and receive lots of questions from beginners. Even so, there are still beginners who create their own threads and say that they are still beginners and need advice and guidance, or threads introducing themselves and reasons for joining the bitcointalk forum. The most important thing is that you add more links such as an introduction to bitcoin, how to get merit, and any threads that might be useful for beginners, you can take them from other boards, not only those available in help and beginner board

I can only appreciate what you are doing, I hope it works and this thread can be a reference for beginners who want to ask questions. If it turns out this thread doesn't work, at least you tried. Keep contributing to the forum, I guess that's what you do

Your point is quite convincing, but just as @Zaguru12 said, it's very hard for this thread to be noticed by newbies, and I believe it is a formality to introduce yourself when you get to anywhere new. So those are the exact actions these newbies take with ignorance of the effect.

I have a suggestion on how to eradicate these sucking introduction threads that keep everyone pissed, but before my suggestion, what my instincts are telling me now is that most of us trying to eradicate this bad posting of newbies did once partake in it. lol  Cool is just a joke but maybe true.

Dear, your intentions are good, but most of the newbies who made such posts do not mean they are really newbies. I sometimes become sceptical about it because at one place they are calling themselves newbies and showing like they don't know anything, but at another place, they are giving suggestions and participating in discussions like they have been here for more than 2 years.

I am not targeting anyone, just being curious, but still, your intention is to help real strangers who really make such posts.

For them, I will say, before making any post, surf around here and there, and they will find good topics for them to read. But in my opinion, this thread you mentioned is not enough for them if compared with the suggestions and links of threads that a newbie is being provided with when creating that "newbie" topic.

You should add some more links here, so we could use your post in future to mention when needed.

I see your point but what you did was like repeating what the newbies did.

If you put your shoe on most of the newbies they tend to casually ask anything what they wanna know without knowing what are the forum rules.

And your thread will be most likely go under with the new thread/replies.

Its not that its useless mught probably have another topic with the others. Try to use search function before doing your topic to see if there are other ones already existed. Yes locked it since it will be considered as spam due to redundancy with other topics which have the same content.

But its good thing if everyone uses search feature first before creating a new one to avoid this.

I'll keep this thread on page 1.
Well, that doesn't depend only on you since you can bump topic only once every 24 hours so if topic drops down to page 2 and you can't bump it, chances are slim to none that newbie will see it. Hell, majority of newbies don't even bother reading pinned topics.

That's not gonna work because newbies usually don't check before posting and those rare ones that maybe want to, they won't know how to look for already existing threads since forum search options sucks.

Totally agree with Rikafip statement, every day we are seeing new thread from new users with the title " I am new here for learning" despite of so much thread already available. Newbies don't know about this forum and he will not care of reading any thread at the start. I don't think OP idea will work here in begginer section for newbie. I am mentioning same thread created by different users in this week

I am a newbie

I am open to learning new things as a beginner

Hi Im very newbie

Hi I'm new here, hope you welcome me.

I don’t want you to feel Again that your thread is useless not at all. But let’s look at it this way, how will a thread like this noticeable by newbie once they join the forum? Definitely by the thread been pinned on top of the board so that it doesn’t go down when new threads are created. Now even after pining that thread do think they will go there and ask their question? No, how do I know this, because the thread you just posted is which was created by Lauda is pinned and has the necessary information and yet newbies still don’t go there, so I think yours will be treated same way.
I'll keep this thread on page 1. I see Lauda's thread has been locked so beginners can't comment there.

It’s like you are missing everyone’s point here, newbies do not bother trying to read existing threads they just go ahead to create theres even if you continue to bump the thread everyday they won’t still make use of it but will rather create there’s and that will actually defeat the main purpose of your thread

If this will be stickled at the beginners and help board i.e if you would create the complete thread and add the necessary links for newbies, but if it’s not stickled at the board then you might as well just give up the idea because if you create the thread for newbies if you should come back the next day you won’t even see it in the first page of the beginners because more thread will be created that will eventually bury it in thousand of threads.

I just tried it, although I'm not sure it will work. I will update the main thread periodically

And if a newbie could not take his or her time to check the first thread of beginners and help or meta board to see those threads that are at the top what makes you think they’ll read this one when it’s created? The truth is that newbies just want to be spoon fed nothing more even if they know it they’ll still want to ask the question.

The creation of new threads by newbies asking for guidance can never be curtailed even if we try because almost every newbies feels that kind of a thread is his introduction into the forum. So best is we just keep up with it. If they create the thread point then to what they need, that’s how I think it would be as things stands
