Well, I'm not currently in the market yet, but I am working on getting a BTC loan here in the forums so that I can invest in a worthwhile mining rig. I am doing my research in the meantime so that I know safe ways to buy and sell because if I am able to obtain the loan I will need to convert it to cash so I can spend it on my intended rig.

How does bitcoin otc work exactly? Is there any danger involved in selling there?

As far as fees goes, there's a small exchange fee, which is 0.2% for btc-e and 0.6% on MtGox. Then a Dwolla fee of $0.25 for receiving more than $10. So in all it's not that much. You may have to go through AML verification, however.

Edit: there's also https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/, which I have not personally used, but is run by TangibleCryptography here on the forums.

It's pretty risky, us being newbies and and way more newbie than you with more than twice our post count, we just want you to get screwed out of your hard earned bitcoins and go to that scammer website. Those two sites are probably the noobiest out of all the bitcoin sites, I feel bad I shouldn't have lied to you, don't use those sites, find another way to do it.

I'm not going to argue with you, I don't care enough or have the time to. At least ONE person who recommended the sites you said had USEFUL INFORMATION about the sites rather than just "google so-and-so". Well, post count obviously doesn't relate to knowledge, as can be seen by your post count being higher than mine and asking very simple questions... If people are taking the time to offer you advice and help you, maybe you should take the time to research their responses to your question. Just a quick search of either of those on the forums and you'd realize they are a safe bet.

No offense, but I hope someone with a thousand posts scams you, so you can learn what everyone on the forums can attest to, post count does not make a difference.

I have a brain. I wouldn't just accept the first senior member who says "go here and do this" as a response either. I started a thread to begin a discussion on the topic. Everyone is welcome to place their opinions and I thank you for yours and will do research. When I have read enough positive things about one specific place I will probably go there.

I ask a "simple question" because it is a quick, easy and reliable way to get the facts contained in a single thread and I can see what the majority opinion is relatively quickly without having to sift through pages and pages of multiple threads.

I honestly was not trying to be mean which is why I said no offense. And he's lucky I wasn't someone else, a LOT of people would have trolled him for a response that was essentially "google the answer" as a response to a question looking for safe and reliable ways to do transactions concerning money online.
