2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.

I think you got the answer from everyone. But through this, I want to tell you, if you want to invest in the market, start and choose only bitcoin because it is the most valuable, most reliable coin to invest in. Bitcoin is the coin that will never crash and always recover the fastest in the market, and only when bitcoin recovers can the rest recover. If one day bitcoin crashes, I can assure you that this market will also cease to exist. If your investment doesn't include bitcoin in it, that's a serious omission.

Question of thought...

I made a research recently, i found out that Bitcoin reached nearly $19,500 in 2017 and later fell below $3,300 in 2018.

1) would've other crypto's survived during that time ?.
2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
Since there weren't as many cryptocurrencies back in 2018 as there are now, most of them survived the crash because there weren't this many shitcoins and useless projects at that time. Most of the coins that have been on the top along with Bitcoin survived though falling badly in price since Bitcoin had a very severe crash.

About why Bitcoin survives the crashes, it's mostly because there is a lot of money invested in it and as soon as it falls lower in value, there is higher buying pressure which basically backs it up and it manages to recover slowly from the crash every time.

It is true that the projects in 2018 are very few compared to the current number of projects. But most of them are also dead and only a few projects actually survive and develop to this day. Apart from ETH, BNB, LTC, and some other projects, the rest I don't see anyone mentioning them in the market.

Bitcoin is still the most reliable cryptocurrency, so it is understandable that it still exists, moreover, it has the largest market cap if it crashes, then the market crashes.

you just checked the 2016 ? why not the 2021 since you created this thread days ago, because for sure there is more interesting things that you will discover.

Bitcoin in 2021 reached almost 70k and drops low to? check the market and yes below 15k .

if this can happen then the answer is already given , because altcoin will always following that bitcoin movement.

The bear market of 2018 was a very intense one, to me, it is much worse than the bear market of 2022. Many altcoins were dead at the time, but there are still many serious projects that still exist and thrive to this day. Typically ETH and BNB, you can see they are still developing very well.

Many people fear crypto winter, but I find it extremely useful. Winter makes the market cleaner as well as more mature. Only good projects will survive and develop, fraudulent projects will be eliminated. Đó là một điều mà thị trường bò không thể làm được.
I have a different view than you.

I saw a 2022 bear market is dramatically worse than the 2018 bear market. Many projects died in both bear markets but in 2018 bear market, we did not see terrible and unbelievable collapses of Tier-1 exchange like FTX and its token FTT as well as another super quick death of a top altcoin like Terra LUNA and UST. I could be wrong but I see 2022 bear market is more deadly than 2018 bear market.

Maybe technically DeFi 2.0, smart contracts are bad and they created higher risk for altcoin projects.

Yes, it's a personal feeling so it can't be the same as anyone else's. But maybe I'm more obsessed with the 2018 bear market because I lost a lot and almost lost my investment in 2018. Maybe that makes me find it more dire. Bear season 2022 with the collapse of Luna and FTX, but I have barely suffered any damage or loss from the 2 crashes, so I feel pretty normal. On the contrary, I was satisfied with bitcoin being dumped because I had the opportunity to accumulate a lot of cheap bitcoins at that time.

2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency with a unique use case in the market. The demand for it is always there because it can not only be used for investment but also can be used as a currency and a payment method. So crypto winter is not as dangerous for bitcoin as you might think.
As an investor, the winter of the market is what I look forward to the most because it will be my chance to buy bitcoin and my favorite coins at a huge discount. I even wish it could last so I have enough time to buy cheap bitcoins as I like. Crypto winter is good, not as bad as many fear.

Bitcoin is different from other Altcoins because it has some features that is not belongs to others. One of these features is that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency. It can be transmitted independently all over the world without any restriction. Bitcoin is currently popular as a payment method for various organizations and gradually its area is increased. After the discovery of Bitcoin, other altcoins have been created. Moreover, altcoins are often prone to scams, which is not happen in the case of Bitcoin. Even after a long period of time, Bitcoin is able to reach its highest level, but it is not possible for altcoins. So many altcoins have been created and die. But all aspects bitcoin is the best.

2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
1) Many coins will survive and many coins will disappear, high marketcap and included in top 10 coins doesn't make them able to survive. We have experienced many coins kicked out from top 10 ranks due to hack, low security, the CEO scam etc and that's make the investors want to commit suicide.

2) It's because Bitcoin created with a clear use case, no manipulation and no one can control it, so Bitcoin can be the most trusted cryptocurrency regardless it's bull run or bear market.

I assume there were many cryptocurrencies that didn't survive that severe crypto winter. If Bitcoin fell all the way from $19,500 to $3,300, it must have been a lot worse to those cryptocurrencies that didn't have the strong community as Bitcoin. If that kind of impact happened to Bitcoin, a much stronger impact must have happened to so many other less known altcoins. And the reason is simple, the rest of the cryptocurrencies are not as solid as Bitcoin. In fact, so many of them, the majority probably, are shitcoins.

1) would've other crypto's survived during that time ?
What happened in 2018 also repeated itself in 2022 with Bitcoin dipping again after it saw $68k+ in 2021. It bled badly after that. Now it's coming out of it and chasing another ATH. After this expected new ATH that will come upon us in 2025, I forsee that Bitcoin will dip seriously again in 2026. Historical data has proved this over time, only that we can't say for sure how badly it will dip during any bear season.

In 2018, that bear season drove so many cryptos to their grave. A few survived it and exposed the shitcoins among them. Thereafter, new (more) cryptos came to the market and the circle continued. I witnessed it all and took some hits too. It has always been the pattern. I don't see anything changing in any bear season.

It is a fact many altcoins survived the crypto winter back then, some examples are ethereum and litecoin, but there were many other altcoins which survived too.

2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
Why do you think bitcoin would have died back then? Bitcoin suffered a huge setback, that is undeniable, but at the same time while the crash was terrible, it was not as if the technology behind bitcoin had suffered any kind of attack or an unknown vulnerability was reveled at the time, bitcoin was still as solid as a technology as ever, and as such it had no reason to at all to disappear.

1) would've other crypto's survived during that time ?.

Many survived but many more eventually disappeared and all the cryptos that could not survive during the crypto winter were those that had no purpose of use and were also made only to get a lot of money from investors and left the development of the project just like that because they realized that it's not easy to make a coin that can become big and get a lot of attention from crypto lovers

2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
The reason is always the same because Bitcoin has good fundamentals, the initial reason for its creation is clear so that this clarity makes many crypto lovers support the development they need every time, which is very inversely proportional to other coins

I think you can find the answer to question 1 just by looking at the coins then and coins now? It would've been different if it was a hypothetical question, but it's not.

As for 2,  it's simply a difference in quality. It's like how Facebook survived and grew to what it is, leaving behind other old social media websites in the past in the dust. A difference in the quality it provided, whether it be in service, product itself or whatever. It's not without reason why a lot of people separate crypto into two, Bitcoin and shitcoins (or 3 if you add those good altcoins)

There were tokens that did not survive, now classified as scams.  But there are also lots of tokens that survived because they receive a lot of funds in thier ICO. It was a painful bear market as there were lots of newcomers in crypto because of the ICOs and it also had installed a valuable lesson after it.  The bear market in 2021 is not already affecting much since those investors already know what's coming. This cycle will keep repeating.

I ever made a thread about crypto winter on my local board and lots of discussions there in detail about why this happened. But, even despite discussing many pages, we get 1 point, if hold and patent is an important things to solve the winter problem. As we know, bitcoin price is always back in ATH, we believe that because we have experienced it in 3 times. And, I know you still doubt it because you were just born today.

Don't worry mate, there are many like you today. they were worried like you before but by over time, they are immediately convinced.

To begin with, I strongly advise against comparing Bitcoin to any other "shitcoin." These low-quality cryptocurrencies are unlikely to survive, regardless of whether or not there is a crypto winter. However, genuine altcoins have demonstrated their resilience alongside Bitcoin. Bitcoin has always been a highly volatile cryptocurrency, and experiencing winters is nothing new for it. Nevertheless, Bitcoin has managed to persevere due to the unwavering support of its community. The state of the market depends on investors' mindsets; if they become fearful, we may encounter another crypto winter. On the other hand, we are also witnessing summers. This is precisely why Bitcoin became popular so quickly.

For the aspect of other coins growing when bitcoin survive in winter period, its only coins that has potential can increase when bitcoin  is increasing in the market, and its obvious that without bitcoin getting accelerated theirs no coin can flag off a green color during bitcoin time having red colour in the market, so I believe that bitcoin is activator of increments of other coins.

Op is asking the first question as a hypothetical, but plenty of cryptos existed back then and many survived with varying degrees of success (Ethereum did really well, for example), so the answer is yes, they could and did survive, although some died, more or less. So Bitcoin isn't the only one to survive, but those that never fully recovered probably weren't good enough in a sense that not enough people stood by them, believed in them, were ready to invest despite a bad period of time. And a big point of calling it 'winter' IMO is that it presupposes that it's something temporary, something that may last a while but will eventually pass.
