I got 86* C single CPU, and over 95* multi-GPU.

dude, that wont last..  you need to downclock those cards ..  I do not let a card run over 78.

good to see that I'm not the only one who hits refresh on this link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103195&Tpk=radeon%205970) first thing in the morning because I don't trust the "auto notify" feature on the site and am too lazy to actually write a wget command that greps for "out of stock" and sends me a page...
Don't bother, you will get banned for doing just that. These have been out of stock for a month or so now and when they get in stock sell out instantly, and as you suspected auto notify isn't. Better off getting a secondhand xfx card that still has the warranty transferable.

I'd say my experience with the diamond 5970's has been pretty good overall. Only had one not work well and the seller on ebay actually took it as a return.

Everyone I bought from newegg is fine except one which i returned and promptly received a "good" one from newegg.

Now I did open mine up and replace all the stock TIM and thermal pads because the job they did was sloppy. They are NOT big time overclockers, but I get 800/300 with limited issues. I have an XFX black edition 5970 that does fine with 825/300 and have just never tried for higher and it runs cooler at stock.

All of this at stock voltage 1.05

So in my opinion, at 329.99 to 399.99 which is what I paid for mine on newegg(about 14 of them) and a 5 year warranty, they were a GREAT deal.

Maybe i just got lucky.

I am pretty sure you could get few new 5970 GPUs. I could probably help with that.

Can you elaborate?

On a serious note: In case you guys didn't know, those cards are listed as 'OEM' on accident. From what I've heard, they are remanufactured cards, most of which were bad news. All of that was a collaborative collection of information from Newegg support and other miners.

And you can absolutely get a new 5970 from "somewhere". If you can get 20 year+ old consoles with factory seals on them, why wouldn't you be able to get a 2 year old graphics card with a factory seal on it? It's all about determination and the price you have to pay.

You cannot get 5970's new from anywhere especially not in quantity.........

if you can tell me where to get them new, I will pay 400 per!

Why do you think you can buy a new 5970 for $400? That's the used card price (or refurbished). You need to double that if you want a new one.

your probably right.  i just replaced a fan in one...  there was like 20 screws,  cant they design something with plastic clipons or something?

Rumor has it, that the 7970 has rounded edges, so you won't have to worry so much with cutting yourself on them. Something to keep in mind.

Stop lying jjiimm_64.  I strong recommend everyone get ebay those hard to use 5970s for good money while you still have the chance.

They are hot, noisy, and 2000 lower lower than 7970.   I mean it starts with a "5".  Can anyone say "ANCIENT".  Ebay it to some suckers for $350 to $400 before the word gets out.

They aren't even worth the time it takes to sell them for that much. I'll send you 1 BTC for each of them, right now, no questions asked. You don't even have to convert it from USD -> BTC!

Very hot card, and first GPU always happingly baking second one.
I think to replace this aeroturbine cooling with Ice Hammer IH-900B or same.

Additional vote to IH-900B is that it has many radiators for memory chips and voltage controllers, which baking too with reference cooling.
this card does NOT run hot!!
It was over 70F here today.  it is 87F in this room

Here's one in Sweden for 4000 SEK http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=614245 It says "1 in stock soon", to all you non-scandinavians

How much is that in real money? Tongue

$586 Smiley
Oh man, one in stock? I'll buy five!

"In stock soon" that is Swedish for "Out of stock and we aren't getting no mo because ATI/AMD stopped making them 2 years ago." Smiley

It actually says "1 st på väg in" which means "1 on the way here"
