I would like to ask one more question here that what happens if the exchange we are using for trading bitcoins gets hacked. After they are hacked, one will not be able to access his account, then how will he trade the accumulated bitcoins.

I think modern companies do their best to protect bitcoin-users from hacking or theft. I came across an article about the service from the UK. Here it is - https://usethebitcoin.com/matbea-net-find-previous-owner-bitcoin/
Using this service for free you can track the bitcoin address, create a wallet and conduct a doublespend transaction. Are these not enough ways to protect yourself?

There's a lot of intelligent individuals especially hackers now a days. For me, I think bitcoin assures the security of their users so they come up of having paper wallet etc. So in our part maybe we should think a strongest password and make sure to always logout and dont share personal info:) to prevent this kind of event.

This is pretty much a general rule for everything you do on the internet. Bitcoin can be hacked, but, not in the in way you meant. People can be hacked, that's you wanted to say.

Basically no one can hack bitcoin, because blockchain technology is a settling system that can not delete or edit data recorded on blockchain, Blockchain is something different, transparent and secure. They can only steal your bitcoin from the wallet, it also depends on one's security.

If you want to be safe you should think like a hacker.
First, a hacker will try to hack your passwords throw trojans, malwares or anything to gain access to your computer, so, you have to use a good antivirus and never download a file from an untrusted website.
Then, a hacker can pretend to be your friend to collect as much information as possible such as birth date or best friend name. Those information can be valuable when trying to reset your passwords.
Hacking a human mind is always easier than hacking a software.
Some unscrupulous elements often set up sites or programs, where people willingly hand in their details and there're site owners, who're into the business of selling such information. So joining all manners of programs online, can be how hackers gain access to people's details and that's one more reason the use of one and same password, pins or patterns across programs is a must avoid.

Bitcoin can only be hacked by hackers of an individual person and not the network itself. This would be like saying "The United States Dollar Can Be Hacked" well of course, naturally, however only if we are talking about individual case-by-case basis, because no one person can steal or hack all of the US Dollars in existence, of course that is impossible and pointless because the value will go to 0 instantly.

If you want to be safe don't open suspicious emails, don't open rar/zip or other packed files if they don't come from known sources, don't click on suspicious links, try to avoid torrents and porn sites. At least don't do any of that on a computer you're using for work. I have been following this advice for years.

Are you dumb or you are just newbie in here?

We all know that our bitcoins can be easily hacked, and most of us who have a larger amount of bitcoins have purchased trezor's or nano ledger's wallets, that is the most safest way to protect your bitcoins because you can setup a pin, and there is no way that a hacker can pass through that PIN.

And no, all those wallets that are on the internet are not safe, they all can be easily hacked if you have a rat on your computer, that is why it is always recommended to invest some money to purchase an offline wallet, because there is no way that you can lose your money by having your bitcoins in there.

You are right mate, Offline bitcoin wallets are more secure and not able to be hacked by anyone, so as you said, the trezor's or nano ledger's wallets are more recommended for people who have a lot of bitcoins, It's too safe if you store your bitcoin there, but to be realistic, online wallet are secure too unless we should be care about our informations and to be carefull that beign hacked by anyone.

People are careless and don't think of security until something happens and they lose their shit. I once stumbled upon someone's private account in a public library. Some woman not only logged in to her personal account via a publically accessible computer but didn't even bother to log off. She just left it all there and walked away.
Don't start to panic when you hear that someone has been hacked, but think of that woman in the library. There's more people like her in the world, much more, and your crying guy or girl that plays a victim in a forum post could simply be a careless moron who knew nothing about security until the day their money went *poof*

But a lot of people are now being hacked becuase of the forks, and this is not the fault of the hackers, this is because people are so anxius about getting forked coins for free, or even those altcoin airdrops too.
There is a lot of people who lost a huge amount of money because they exported their ethereum private key to one of those erc20 airdrops.
They just lost everything, and i heard about a guy who lost more than 1000 ethereums because he wanted to claim some Ethereum Blue.
This was a really sad story, but he really diserved this because it was his fault, and obviously because he was so greedy.

That is not hacking.
Even the term hacking is a bit misleading because you actually would have to "crack" a wallet key.

The guys you mentioned just fell victims to simple phishing attempts.
These days if you really want to claim your helicopter coin you should really take the time to learn how to build your own wallet.

If you are smart enough you would not place all your funds into one of those wallets like Xapo or Coinbase, they are not safe enough and you can be easily hacked through them.

Ironically,  we have quite the twist here
Most people that lost their coins have downloaded wallets in order to keep the coins safe on their own computer/phone and not rely on online wallets.

Me, first time using bitcoin think like, it's just a data, so maybe someone can edit the number of their bitcoin amount on their wallet like they hack a bank system. But I was wrong. Blockchain is something different, it transparent and secure.

The title of this thread is a bit misleading - it seems like Bitcoin can be hacked (and by Bitcoin, we mean bitcoin network, the blockchain).
But the truth is that you mean individual people's wallets and coins stored by individual bitcoin users.
Without maintaining proper digital hygiene we can be a target for all kinds of malware, trojans and direct attacks - not only your bitcoin wallets can in danger, your bank accounts, PayPal etc. too!

And maybe they can just close your accounts without your knowledge and they will keep your funds forever, the same applies to those who are keeping their funds on bittrex or poloniex, it is very risky to have your funds on an exchange too.

And i saw a lot of people using those exchanges as wallets, and they do not even have 2fa activated on their accounts.

then according to you where is the safest place to keep the funds? is it in the wallet safe? I ask for your opinion !!

Of course bitcoin can be extremely easy hacked. If yout think, for blockchain wallet you just have have to hack an email adress(wich should be easy for an intermediate hacker) and you got the account from where you can stole bitcoin. People should notice this and secure their wallets and email addresses with strog password and also add a mobile verification at every log in because that is not very easy to hack.

I suggest everyone to not expose any kind of informations on internet on their amount of bitcoin they have because that's what hackers are looking for. If they know you have a big amount of bitcoin they are going to watch you activity until they are going to find any informations(passwords, email adresses, mobile phones) that could hack the system.

Another tip is to use only one email address for websites like faucets, hyip, cloud mining, different forum or any kind of simple website. Also every time change the password because hackers are going to check every websites where you logged in, especially those ones who are easy to havk like faucets. Use your primary email address for important websites and dont expose it online. If you have a business create another email address especially for that business contact.

Security for your coins so that others can not access your funds is the most important thing you want to know when holding on your bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.  strong paswords, clean computers, hardware devices, paperwallets, 2FA, secure internet access... all are important.

Bitcoin itself have never been hacked, maybe that's the reason why the price of it reaches $8637 while I am typing this. Hackers can do hack Bitcoin exchanges just like what happen to Mt.Gox because it is centralized, they can also get Bitcoin wallets by spreading different kinds of malware in the Internet and those gullible Bitcoin users will leak their own personal information without noticing so everything is hack-able for hackers if we don't take safety measures in securing our very own Bitcoins.
