Returning assets is not dependent on any funds held by whoever

Start by processing those! !

I know I have already posted this so many times that you guys are sick of me by now.

But I feel the need to say, again, that the Bitcoin community needs to move towards the storage of Bitcoins in voting pools on the blockchain, so that no single server, or hacker of a server, can actually misappropriate and spend the coins belonging to depositors.

I have already proposed a protocol on this forum whereby a combination of OT with the BTC multisig transaction will make it impossible for anyone's funds to be stolen once they have been bailed onto a web-based service (such as MtGox, MyBitcoin, GLBSE, Bitcoinica, etc.) See my posting history for an explanation of how it all works.

GLBSE has been closed
We will begin retuning bitcoin once we have recieved all coins from the GLBSE treasurer that manages the GLBSE cash reserves. BitcoinGlobal (GLBSE's partent company) shareholders and board voted for them to be returned immediately, we are awaiting compliance with this order.

Ah, nice. I presume Theymos is the treasurer, and is going to now get the blame for not returning the bitcoin? And, of course, Theymos shouldn't release any coin in his control until there is a clear, proper plan for returning all assets (coin & securities) to their rightful owners.

So special. So glad I got almost all of my funds out of that. I only had about BTC0.05 left there.  I'm pretty secure in the only live asset I held. I'm pretty sure that the other issuers (who's assets had been delisted, or halted) will honor their obligations Tongue

Ya know....it's one thing to commit a crime that has no actual victim (i.e doesn't fuck over investors) because you don't know or don't understand the law, or think it doesn't apply in your case, but it's a completely different thing to commit crimes that cause investors to lose money. If nefario has misappropriated customer deposits, and there is a shortfall in the GLBSE accounts, this is a serious serious problem.

Are people currently using Open Transactions? How do I get started? Smiley

Depends on your operating-system.

For Windows for example a set of pre-built executables is available: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1221655

Try searching the forums for more threads about such things.

GLBSE has been closed

I'm sorry to inform all our users that GLBSE is no longer able to continue operating, and has now closed.

Q: What does this mean if I'm an issuer?

We will do everything in our power to make the process of moving off GLBSE as smooth as possible, we are currently working on a simple, safe, and easy to use method that will allow you to continue your relationship with your asset holders

Q:I'm a GLBSE user, what about my assets and my bitcoin?

You will be able to get back your bitcoin, and if you want to reveal your username, email, and a bitcoin address to accept payments with, you can continue your relationship with the issuer of any assets you hold.

We will begin retuning bitcoin once we have recieved all coins from the GLBSE treasurer that manages the GLBSE cash reserves. BitcoinGlobal (GLBSE's partent company) shareholders and board voted for them to be returned immediately, we are awaiting compliance with this order.

He's bitter because he can't find a good way to kill time while GLBSE is down (so he resorted to trolling).

Hey! He could just head your way, and find seven to play with, for just 55$ each!  Wink

Or he could get an Open Transactions client running and start enjoying trades without a percentage trading fee.

I prefer money that I can spend.

Oh and look, it isn't coming back up.  A bitcoin business that turned out to be a scam?  Why, who could have predicted this?

Good luck getting your money back, he's using deposits to pay legal fees.

Namworld please don't put "Scam accusations: DMC/Usagi" in the title because it sounds bad.

Eh, there's still accusations tho and I'm trying to summarize as much as I can.

So you know they get hacked because they don't report it?  Proof by Lack of Evidence is not a strong argument, you know.

And hey, I get that it takes time.  It's not as if you can just develop a decent payment system and get it funded and picked up by a giant, well established company right off the ba-

Oh yeah.

And hey, with Square, I can buy something other than illegal drugs and child porn, and the prices aren't insanely inflated for it.  And it doesn't take 20 minutes to complete the transaction!  I mean, yeah, its basically just another way to spend US Dollars, but so are bitcoins, and we all know it.

Its easy to critisize from safely behind your keyboard but how many of us would be willing to face serious jailtime just to run a bitcoin site ?

Out of all the bitcoin sites glbse is probably the weak link in the chain the authorities might come after to "teach bitcoiners a lesson".

People should be under no illusion the threat Nefario faces if indeed this is happening.

That is all.
This.
Trading in unlicensed securities is kind of a big deal, and there's every chance that Nefario is under immense legal pressure right now.

Let's see how it goes as of saturday, I have coins tied up in the site so I'd really like to see it return  Cheesy
