There are lot scams and frauds
But, usually people know difference scams / not

Currently Blockchain.info estimates USD transaction volume at $40M daily. Are there any statistic regarding total fraud in Bitcoin transactions?

there aren't any fraud statistic. but usually very small amount

If you include losses due to hacking, a couple of large transactions can really skew the total amount.  Smiley

You can find a list of major hacks and scams in the thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-of-major-bitcoin-heists-thefts-hacks-scams-and-losses-576337 (Last updated: June 27, 2014).
There are at least 10 incidents of ≥10000 btc loss and at least 18 incidents of ≥1000 btc loss.

That throws the 'small amount' argument out of the window.

and nobody takes responsibility for scams related to bitcoins Undecided
How can it take, when your already know in the beginning when you deal with BTC what can happen, btc cant be controlled where its gonna end, it always go anonymously from one to another address and you cant find out which one is owner.

Yeah.. that's why the reason of large number of scams and frauds is obvious - anonymity

That is just part of the story.
On the other hand, it seems to me people make bitcoin decisions more carelessly.
For example, quite a lot of people fall in those hyip scams.
Will they give 10 bucks to a random person in the street when that guy promised to give them back $20 the next day? Guess not. Wink

True, but sometimes one needs to sell and that is when one has to trust someone else with their bitcoin, even if it is an escrower or an exchange.

which is when you have to be extremely careful.

you can´t argue like that when you want mass-adoption.
I fail to see why we'd want mass adoption from idiots who'll cry when they get scammed.

Stupid people will get scammed, doesn't matter if they lose bitcoins or fiat money, they'll manage to lose it anyways. Some gamble, some invests in schemes to get rich, others think they can download money generators, or use scripts to fool casinos. Those people are doomed as soon as they get internet access, sadly.

I have gotten an education from reading the stories on this site for sure. I don't trust anyone but myself with my bit coin.

As long as you don't transfer the bitcoins out, keep your wallet safe, you should be generally fine.

The amount of scams that are done to steal your fiat money is a 99% against 1% BTC which is still in alpha tier development. Scammers gonna scam. With regulations you could tell the police, but the dilemma arishes: Is said regulation beneficial considering the cons that would come for the BTC ecosystem?

There are many scams and frauds in life period, not just bitcoin, but it's usually always greed + stupidity that is the cause of being scammed.

there are so many scams and frauds cause ppl are idiots

easy targets, easy money =  more scammers and fraudsters

I'd *think* that your typical bitcoin user is a bit more intelligent then the avg facebook user... but I wouldn't be surprised if a good one out of every three or four of those ppl have compromised passwords
