To avoid such things, just don't invest or even look at ICO projects. They all are shit. I feel wonder why people are coming with ICO projects without any products or even a good idea when everyone knows about their scam behavior. To be in a safe zone and to not lose money, don't invest in ICOs, invest in coins or in IEO.

Scammers are getting smarter at fraud, investors should be more careful before deciding to invest in the ICO. Working product is not a guarantee, it could just be manipulation, as I have experienced with Ambit, it looks like they have built a mining tool but in fact until now there has been no official announcement regarding the listing of ambit tokens to exchange, almost two years have passed, admin is silent and slowly disappeared.
ICO is more easily manipulated, so it's better to join IEO held in a trusted global exchange, that's one of the best ways now. Trusted Exchange won't risk its good name by accepting bad projects for IEO, right?
As a precaution, you can see the Scam Accusations subforum if there are projects that are suspected to be even positive scams, so you can be more careful.

That normally happens in ICOs. You must stop and remove your interest with them, it's going to be a repetitive actions from these ICO companies that really don't have something to offer to the people. They are good in money collection and promising such activities that will hype the investors but in reality, there's no actual use case for whatever coin they are promoting.

And lately they have started unfulfilling promises and abandoning projects after much hope for investors and bounty hunters. The ICO scam is beginning to come back again as they went on break for some time now. I have read so many bounty hunters complaining of no distribution and fulfillment of promises.
They were never gone, as long as there are investors willing to commit themselves to these projects, these ico scams won't stop. But soon, if most of the investors stop investing on such projects and becomes focus on the existing projects, we will eventually see a dramatic decrease in the production of these icos. Each year there will be a new trend, this year was for IEO and still the same as ICO, what will be new one for 2020?

as you say. very difficult to detect ICO with a good future. some good ICOs don't even appear in the media. then, how to detect ICO scam. ? You should choose a good ICO for the future. if it's just an ICO scam, that's a lot. but the best ICO is very difficult. as I experienced, is KLAYTN ... I have never seen this, but they appear only with airdrops and it turns out they are a big project from the Korean Kakaotalk company. there is currently no guarantee that ICO or IEO has a good future.

There are a lot of Icos ongoing without specific products. I still believe many of them are going to give us a huge adoption in this space. But the problem is many Icos are planning to get investments by providing nothing with a solid scamming exit plan. You won't be able to trace them by reading their WP, Team, activities even company formation. Recently I saw an ICO, they were genuinely working to do something but later they ran away with a bit of raised money. They closed their website, TG group and everything.
Can anyone suggest to me how to choose the scam icos ?

There's only one solution and this will spare all your heartache and headache, don't invest in ICO anymore, consider taking a vacation investing in ICO, and if you really want to invest, why not invest in the top coins in the market, investors have stopped investing in ICO you should too.
If we see today many ICO projects have turned into scams and many people are starting to complain about it and ask questions about how to avoid or find out whether the project is scam or not. Instead of thinking about it, it is better to invest in top coins than to avoid the risk of losing more money, you can also benefit from the investment you make if you can determine when the right point to sell and buy coins.

You should join the community, for me the scam icos and the legit ico can analyze by their community. I can really feel the hype and the professionality from a group of people that discuss about the ICO, if the ICO is scam, the group community might be so calm and quite and like nobody's there.

The truth of the situation is this. Icos are unreliable
Token crowdfunding is unreliable.

It is up to you to decide which is the best action to take

Both ieo/ico/ or other form of coin offering does not guarantee you anything

You can join ico and make profit
You can join ico and get losses

The same way IPO and any startup investment works. There's no guarantee that a project will become a huge success and that they didn't exit scam either. It's really hard nowadays to find a reliable project that can be trusted let alone a really successful project with promising futures.
There might be some good project out there or even undervalued project but we need to face the fact that we are overwhelmed with a project that merely created for grabbing people's money.

A common risk that must be accepted by investors when all ICOs do not experience a smooth and successful process is to wait for a refund, or must accept their attitude to escape with various sweet closing words such as "we are currently focusing on offline funding." Not all of them want to be labeled a scam project, but they don't guarantee anything if they fail. better to follow IEO first for now.

in my opinion this question has often arisen and until now there has also been no definite answer how to prevent us from entering into a scam project. we can only be careful and always scrutinize whitpaper, team work and road maps in earnest before joining the ICO project. but this also does not guarantee that the ICO that we follow is not a scam. in my opinion it's better to invest in the top coins than ICO investments. investing ICO now is very risky.

How to choose the scam ICOs? Do not choose them. Avoid them like the plague. It is very easy to spot a scam ICO nowadays. If you random on the ANN or bounty section of the altcoin board, you will most likely see a scam project. Majority of them are scams. It is not hard to look for scam projects but it is very hard to look for legit projects.

They are not going to give us a huge adoption. They are actually making adoption hard because people are already becoming doubtful about crypto projects because many of them or their friends are once victims of these scams. They will only make this space look dirty.

For starters ICOs are not as popular anymore as a method of raising funds for a project its IEOs now that have caught most of the markets attention and if you're wanting to avoid the scams simply focus on reputable launchpads that have good quality offerings like Bitfinex, OKex, Houbi, Binance and Kucoin

You already says that majority of them are going to exit scam then why invest?

Maybe there could be good IEO's out there, you might want to try it out, if you wanted to invest with todays market condition. But then again you should DYOR first, because involving yourself with these IEO's.

I am surprised that some still consider investing in ICO in this era. If you cannot get it right now, you might not be able to get it again. Investors are careful with IEO, because that is what is trending, let alone investing in ICO. Also check project's product thoroughly, to know if it is genuine or not.

For the time being, all ICO projects are still unreliable, if you intend to invest, then my advice is better to invest in IEO. many popular exchanges are working with IEO projects such as Binance and others.

Still, there are IEO projects that fall to the scam category.
Others have said that take a break from investing on these projects, whether IEO or ICO.
I believe that is a smart decision to avoid further losing money from these unreliable projects.
Only with those solid foundations and own funding can withstand the competition.
And I think that is better scenario in crypto, rather than countless projects which are mostly empty.

There are perhaps hundreds of topics in the forum about it. But you can not find a thought to explain how a scam project can be recognized in any of them, because it is very difficult. To recognize the scam project you need to know good projects. Actually, there is no thought to define good project too. But, after you can discriminate the good ones, you will be able to recognize the scam ones. Each of these is an experience acquired identification system, which is the only way to survive.
