Can you provide the transaction link in order to tract the transaction whether it is gone wrong or not? You probably need to provide the wallet address and its transaction. To whom you sent that LINK? Exchange?
If the truth is that the wallet address is really wrong, it will be lost and you may be able not to get it back. However, if it was sent to an exchange wallet, please try to contact the support (but here, I also doubt that they will help because this is your own mistake). Every time you send a transaction, you should double-check the wallet address and also other details. So, be patient, you may have lost your coin. Make it as a lesson for you to be more careful next.
Chainlink or LINK?
He said Chainlink (LINK), not the LINK (LN).

Wrong accusation sir, the OP did not post in the wrong thread, he is talking about Chainlink not BTC, I don't think there is a way to recover the coins but the answer can oy be found if OP can ask the team directly
This post was in Bitcoin discussion and moved here.

OP is you, the one that starts this topic.
If the wallet address is wrong, sorry, you may not get it back.

I need help in recovering my chainling which I suspect to wrong address due to missing a number or letter by mistake

Recovering lost assets that are sent to a wrong address is next to impossible unless you know the person to whom that address belongs and you can plea to them to return your LINK by keeping a finders fee.

But do note not everyone will be willing to send your money back.

Even if you want someone to help you in anyway you need to explain further including your transaction details, if not you could only hear about the speculations on how to go further, as some said if you sent those coins in exchanges then you might get those coins if you contact their support team if not the coins are lost forever.

We need to get more information about this or else we can't help you. Honestly, this is quiet impossible to recover those Chainlink especially when you know that you made a wrong transaction to a wrong address which is possible doesn't exist at all. You made a big mistake mate, don't expect to recover it easily or don't expect at all. Triple check your transactions before executing it, or suffer like this later on.

is it possible to know owner of wallet or at least if it belongs to any exchange
You should provide which address that you have already used to send your money. If you didn't provide your address and we can't help you to identify is that an exchange address or not. I think that you must provide more information about this.

You posted in the wrong board (this isn't about BTC), but to whom did you send them to? If it was to a random address, it's gone. If you sent to an exchange or someone you know, contact them or their support and explain what you did. That's literally the only option.

If it is not clear: OP had posted this in the Bitcoin board, when the correct board is the one it is now (mods moved it later). I know he isn't talking about BTC and I said that. Just read my post.

And the post has been answered already. That's why I don't visit the Altcoin board. People can't stop shitposting for money, including the next one which will probably post here.

edit: like I said...

It's very important never to be in any hurry while sending out token to external or any wallet, never be i a hurry, cross check very well just before hitting the send button. Link is compatible with ERC20 wallets.

OP is online but doesn't replying after he posted a thread Roll Eyes

Rather than I wait you to provide more information (hash, wallet/exchange you use, etc) its better if I answer you immediately.

If you send to uncompleted address (missing letter or number) your transaction will return error and your funds aren't loss.

But, if you send to wrong address, your funds are loss.

Please lock your topic Recover Lost Chainlink in Service discussion, because it's unnecessary to create duplicate thread.

If he will not provide other details, it is hard to determine if there is chance to recover his tokens. This is the biggest reason why you need to double-check, triple-check the address you want to sent it to before pressing the button. It is true for every transaction you make, whether btc, alt or tokens.

It's possible if the owner openly declares that it's their wallet like what a lot of exchanges do. You can check them at https://etherscan.io/accounts

If an individual posted his address somewhere else, you can also try to search using google or other search engine. Why don't you post the transaction hash so members can help you better?

If you send it to right address the sender might send it back if you send him or her a signed message but if you send it to wrong address you have lost you Link. This is why you try as much as possible to copy your address and not type because of typographical error which in this case is very costly

Chainlink or LINK? the number one defi project right now is that your lost coin? LINK is running on ethereum network, it does not make sense if you send accidentally with  missing a number or letter, it will return an error because the address is not complete, both applies on exchanges and and wallets. Maybe you can provide us a transaction link if the transaction really went through even with missing character to help you further?

I think this is a problem of Cryptocurrency system because we just write wrong address, will almost lose our money. If every address is all assigned a name or alias that we know and it will be appeared when we write address down, the confusion will be eliminated

My question is, did you able to send your link to the an incomplete address ? I think wallet nowadays cannot processing transaction if you input wrong format address. Try to remember what address that received your link, if possible paste the link to the explorer here.

Most wallets would give you a warning if your address missed a character so that you paste in the right address otherwise if you sent crypto to a wrong address. Chances of recovering the crypto are zero especially once the transaction has been confirmed.
  • Can you share the transaction ID?
  • What kind of wallet were you using?
