Not just only in naija but in other countries religion has really put disagreement in people which is not supposed to be so. These two religion teaches love but somehow difficult for them to practice this love knowing no matter the religion we all belong we are still brothers and sisters,  we are suppose to leave together in peace and harmony but religion is not giving us this.

Their is a saying people normally say that religion has cause many harm than good, and if there were no religion the world would have been a better place , but this sounds true somehow. I think if their were no religion their would be no religion conflict or disagreement.

Op off a truth, religion get him own wahala, but most of the religious fight you dy hear of na poverty dy cause am, how many times you don hear say most of dis big alhaji or the top pastor or bishop go fight base on say dem insult his religion, you don see person wey get fat bank account go fit religious fight?  Na all dis rifraf wey believe say dy have nothing to lose dy go fight all dos fight.

Religion nah man made something.... Wer e burst my head nah say nah only white angels dey. That talk I done sit down reason am and he dey muzz me.
Muslims,  Traditionalists and Christians,  whenever you put Religion over Humanity,  then, you will be seen as a lousy fool and He-goat myself.

As Africans, we should be proud of our roots by spending quality time self educating ourselves about our roots. From time, Africans have always been Traditionalists until Europeans invaded Africa.

E for sweet if we go fit get one religion in our country because, all those corruption habit dat is taking over our country e for dey easy for president to stop d corrupt habits because, nothing like say na Christian let him go free for d corrupt act or na Muslim let him go na our person which are some of d things dat is killing d country till today.

The problem of Nigeria no be religion but na the people wey dey for government dey preach religion dey take am do campaign and dey create enemies among different people just for selfish gain. If you look at the election wey dey for court, we go see say the youth and majority of the people wanted to kick the APC out irrespective of say even north and south wey be Muslim still no support them. Nigerians want good system and not wetin religion be or wetin e no be.

Is Afghanistan not a Muslim country, didn't they have dispute within the country? They fought each other every day because of politics, so forget this subjects narrative.

If you think religion is the problem of Nigeria then you have not been to many places in Nigeria. You see ignorance and ethnicity, these are the two major problems of this country. Religion is fuel by ignorance, when you meet with educated man + religious person, you will understand that religion is just what people put on faces when they are ignarant. Whether it's from a Muslim or Christian, they are both peaceful people, only the ignorance and religious extremist bring problems.

Another problem of this country is ethnicity, if you Participated in the last election, you will understand how bitter and tribal bigots some regions are when it comes to anything that is beneficial to the country, we fight each other as if we don't value our friendship, our culture and believes but when an outsiders offended us, we all become one and fight for injustice. For example, look at Mohbad death and how everyone forgot tribes and fourth for justice for him, that's what voice of the people can do instead of the daily abuse on social media especially on Twitter(now called X).

Nigeria and Nigerians no too get plenty problems, religion disputes for 9ja is fueled and enabled by politicians, having different laws in different region of the nation na self sabotage. 9ja second problem na greed, and as we de yab politicians, make we remember seh politicians be reflection of the 9ja society

To say religion no be really our wahala for the nation, e go mean say you dey underestimate or no give much attention to the things way dey happen for we country. If you be Christian and you dey live for the North, you no go only feel insecure but, the freedom to dress as you please go be big wahala.
Small dispute way go happen, e don turn watin be say, some persons go use take another person life. That na issue and a big one.

You go con still recall say, come election, we dey always get this ideology way be say, the results from the election pools dey agree with often say, the north no really dey practice democracy or dey choice who them like but, dey peg there choice based on watin dey sold to them from when them attend mosque. That alone, make Christians envy their unity and nothing dey stop Christians from being United.

Another matter way dey be the one way be disunity amongst Christian churches. Way on church go see themselves to be above the other, dey criticize the other and eventually, paint other denominations to be just a little above occult groups.

Na just few way I don mention but these dey make us forget say inside everything, we be human and na the most important thing be that. Na watin suppose make us unit and think ways we fit all survive together.
We need to ignore these religion and ethnicity something and be human!

Everything you said is true, but were I dey doubt na say if we dey educated we no go allow politicians use us.

E get wetting our people say! To know book and to get sense no be thesame thing most of our politicians know book but no get sence and some get sence and know know book.. some know book and also get sence. Some no no book and them no also get sence. And na this set of people naim dey leed us. Am them dey power dey suppress the educated ones because the have money generated out of greediness.

They no the truth and always hide it. Because if the truth is reviled they will not enjoy what dey have embesled. this set of people have bought the military, judiciary, and electoral system. When someone owns all this thing I mentioned above in a country how can dey progress? This arms of government were made for justice not for privacy.

So in conclusion to wetting op dey talk, religious unity no ft make the country better pass like this. Wetting we need na leader wey know book come get sence join am just like Peter obi. And we also need to change because we don also dey affected by our leaders.

Everybody needs to change, but we need the change to start from the top to the bottom..

Actually bro I didn't actually mean to say having one religion could have make the country better but on the contrary my point was just the possibility or impact of having one religion in the country would have made.

E no go make sense if we dey serve only one God, anyhow something good or bad everybody go get he own choice to choose.
  Religion no be our problem at all because even Christians dey plot evil against Christians, even Muslims dey kill Muslims talkless of one unified religion everything go just dey anyhow, but I believe if we let love lead the society go progress wella, we should love everyone irrespective of tribe, religion, language.....
 Because if we no love each other this country no fit move forward or progress.

The tin be say humans generally get that attitude of disagreement and trying to be leaders of themselves. I know say nah for the Christianity part we dey notice division as even doh wey dey serve one God, why different churches right?
You dey suggest say make the religion dey unified as you feel say conflict go dey reduced that way but I see say e no go fit dey easy. Why? All religions get their accepted dogma wey followers sopoz adhere to without question and this dey lead to inflexibility and intolerance to other beliefs so e go hard to convince people to forsake their religion for another. Make I ask op, of now them one unify religion bah which one everybody sopoz accept? That alone go coz conflict becos each side go want the other to take up him own..

If you talk about the different religion in Nigeria as the major reason why we are having conflicts here and there, what about the fact that we don't speak same language and we also have different ethnic groups?

Nigeria as of today has about 300 different ethnic groups, as well as over 500 different languages, Nigeria is one of the most cultural diverse country in the whole of Africa as a continent, putting this into consideration, I personally think religion has little to nothing to do with the conflicts amongst the citizens of the country..

Can we even compare just 3 religion which are -

• Christianity
• Muslim/Islam
• Traditionalist/idol worshipers

To about 300 ethnic groups and over 500 languages.

Religion no be our problem at all, they both religion wey you mentioned about teaches peace, teaches how to live together in peace in any were we are. Now see our leader living together with peace and love. Naija is the only place we have both Muslims and Christian which is our responsibility to protect our land together, so let join our head together for growth and development of the country, we don't have any were to call our home so make we put aside our religion difference and let naija be great again.

I guess we'll never know because it can't happen, we no fit get only one religion for the country. Nigeria dey too diverse to have only one religion but e no mean say we no fit dey in unity in our diversity. Na lack of proper education dey cause all this problem wey we dey get because when we dey intellectually equip we go understand say e no matter who you dey worship but the good in you dat's all that matters. When we dey educated, we no go allow politicians use religion to divide us because na wetin dis politicians dey do so to get favor from people wey from their religion. Religious diversity na wetin most countries for the world get but because their level of education high, they're coexisting well without much challenges, Nigeria can achieve that as well.


I no support am as e go limit us to only one way of thinking, there's strength in been diverse. Islam and Christian religion no be even our religion so why we go accept only one, we get our traditional religion and other religions that are peaceful. No be say dem popular go make use think say they're better. We get Hinduism, Sikhism, Atheism, Buddhism etc dem many and accepting all legally go do more good then banning others and only accepting one, e go limit our thinking growth. Imagine not allowing gambling in the country or alcohol because of religion why go make all this company leave the country and e go take us back in civilization.

Actually there are countries that has only one religion, I don't want to mention but you can google it, you will see there are many countries that has just one religion and believe but perhaps just like you said having one religion cannot solve the problem in the country.

E go de very hard wey you go see country wey l the citizens de salve one God, or have the same beliefs about religion, and most of  of they developed and religious differences is not a normal or general problems there because they have good leaders that can manage and rule well.

But this our country, even if we get one religion there will be tribal differences and it will be very hard for them to to unite and have one say. Therefore, even if having unified relegation there is no guarantee that our people will understand stop all these religious differences wey no make sense.

Truth be told, religious no supposed be a bridge or barriers to unity and economic growth to the society but reverse be the case way be say religion in 9ja today don set aside brotherliness and the political biases.
If u look today for 9ja in terms of political interests, religious differences is considered a faction yielding to the state of segregation as a bridge and  biases to protect it's interests by religion differentialities.

Look verily today, na mostly person's way no too dey dedicated to their religion or the pegans way fit look political candidates by capacities despite their ethnic or beliefs differences but the dedicated religious people always aim to protect the interest of their fellows probably consider ethnicity or generally religious biased.

The origin of religion actually no insight hatred or negative effects on other religions but the truth is that them done whine whine us til.... Religion today dey whisper for humanity bridges and political interests hindering our economic system today including threats to lives and insecurities.

Religion is not not our problem as a people, a lot of Nigerians are religious tolerant, there is great unity in our diversity.  The average Nigerian knows the problem of Nigeria, religion is the least. When those of them in power want to share the national cake, they don't look at religion. Let no one deceive you that our situation as a people is religious related.

The Christians and Muslims in Nigeria are living in harmony, Goodluck Jonathan was a Christian president in Nigeria, did Nigeria turn to London during his time, the answer is no. Same thing when Buhari was president of Nigeria, as a Muslim president what was the difference, nothing.
So look inward careful, you will see our problem but religion is the least of it.

To me religion is not the course of dispute in our society. In as much as we don't speak same language, there is actually no way everyone can belong to one religion. Individuals can still live together happily irrespective of their various religion.

There is absolutely no way everyone can believe in one thing because of the way we were brought up. I mean something you believe and it works for you how can someone convince you to leave it and join what he or she believes that works for them as well.

Let's take for an instance someone that grows up seeing the parents worshipping idols and all their practices are in consonant with how they believe the idol works for them and surely it does works for them, you can see that there's no way you can tell such a family to deviate from what works for them.

Likewise, someone that grows up in a Christian home seeing the family being committed to things of God like going to church, worshipping God and praising God and being hopeful that God alone can answer their prayers, you will see that it will be very hard to convince such person to leave Christianity and follow whatever you believe as well.

So I believe if we can still live together even marry each other irrespective of our languages, our tribes and our ethnic group, we can still progress together despite our various religious beliefs  (religion). What matters most is bringing forth things that will bring progress and development in the society.
