I don't think that the user who submits bad reports would receive a ban in doing so. Also, sorry for misinterpreting the "troll" part, as I thought you were referring to troll posts but that doesn't seem to be the case. Going back to the first sentence, banning a certain user who submitted a high number of reports isn't likely to happen, because first and foremost it is the job of the mod to check out posts that are insubstantial and off-topic; users who report posts help the mods do their jobs, even if in the end the reports submitted are considered constructive enough to be deleted. Lastly, I don't think if the mods could actually remove the report to moderator button to certain users who "abuses" that privilege. Better ask the mods about it.

I dont think there are much report trolls in the first place. The main problem from a trolls perspective would be that there is no reaction to be seen. Well your accuracy would decrease but that is expected if you would e.g. insult mods via reports. You have no way to know which mod is handling the report and you dont see their reaction (if any). Considering that trolls main motivation is cause havoc and strong emotional reactions this is very bad troll food.

PS: Im pretty sure there also is a certain point at which you just get banned if its obvious that you are spamming bad reports.

I am just speculating but here's what I think will happen. If you report too many posts which didn't had anything wrong with them, then after sometime mods won't pay attention to your reports.

AFAIU they don't ignore reports like you are speculating.

Well maybe not at first but if you keep reporting posts which don't need to be reported at all and/or if they suspect that one is simply trolling then they might stop paying attention to them or simply ban them or take away their reporting rights (if there is such a thing).

That would be bad moderation imo. Reporting posts that are doesn't need to be reported will likely lessen your accuracy on reporting. Also, I don't see how "trolling" could actually help the discussion in any way; you can report those troll posts if you think that it is an off-topic reply or doesn't have something to do with the OP or any posts within that thread. And afaik in this forum, there is no such thing as removing the report privilege everyone has because it is one way of helping the mods on removing insubstantial posts and/or replies.

No I didn't say anything about reporting troll posts, I would leave that for the moderator's discretion unless someone is really off-topic, I was talking about Report Post Trolling and I meant if someone is reporting just for the sake of trolling then they might get banned or have their reporting privileges taken away.

A reply from the MOD:

Also, what if half the number of my reports are "BAD", will the MODs start disregarding my future reports?

No. It might effect your chances of ever becoming a mod if your accuracy isn't very good though (if that is something you would be interested in).

But may be if a person does report 100-1000 posts which are all BAD, their reports may be excluded although I don't feel the MOD will do that as it's their job to check reports. Also, I don't think anyone would waste their time reporting so many posts which are unnecessary. It's an extreme case.

Trolls have all the time in the world but that's not what I meant. I meant if one is abusing the report post feature with nonsense then their reports might not get handled and in the end they might get banned.

Will It goes up? and When?
By the way till Now how much you had reported and what is your Accuracy  Wink

Going up and/or down depends on your amount of reports. If you report a lot, it will take sometime but if you report a small amount, it will go up and/or down faster. See shorena's post in last page to know the formula.

Mine is bad. 342 posts with 88% accuracy.

Actullay stats says that I have reported 404 posts with 93% accuracy. I suppose accuracy being between 93-94% since a few days ago was 94%.
However, a 88% accuracy is not too bad....you could still improve your reporting habits.  Wink

Waoo thats a good news, But How to report a Post, is there is any thread where we can report a thread.

You can click "Report to moderator" on right side of the post you want to report.

Can somebody tell me that will something happened if my Report accuracy decreases to ZERO. Because I reported 8 posts and my accuracy is at 80% 7 are right, and 1 is wrong?

Nothing will happen to your account if your report accuracy goes up or down except that if you report a good amount of posts with average accuracy rating, you may become staff if there is in need of one.

Accuracry is calculated in percentages, and if you have a lot of posts reported, its possible that percentage wont increase enough for it to be visible.
From what i see, post report can also be neutral, when there is somewhat valid report, but not enough to have it removed.
It is possible that mod didnt feel like your reported post is bad enough to have it removed, but later on has received another report from others, so he in the end removed it anyways.
imho, i dont think you should trouble yourself with percentages, you should report whatever you feel is wrong, and if staff doesnt feel the same way, well boo-hoo, atleast you tried and gave your opinion.

cheers

That's a good advice right there. Thanks

Thanks to others for trying to make it clear to me how it is calculated. I think I have an idea now but I am gonna follow the above advice and not be too concerned about it. If I see something which I find to be wrong or illegal or against the forum rules, I'll continue reporting it, if my percentage increases, great! If it doesn't, no worries! Smiley

It's really hard to calculate but, there's a way to do it.
That's my stat: You have reported 66 posts with 91% accuracy

(total accurate)*100 / (total handled)
60*100/66 = 90.090909... %91.

If I report one more message it won't affect my percentage till it's handled.

Well I was quite baffled as to how it is calculated, because in the past few days I reported posts that I think were unrelated to the OP itself, and after waiting for several hours, my accuracy is still at 0%. However, I checked it again when I reported another post that is unrelated to the original discussion, and there it is displayed that I am 100% accurate with regards to my reports. So far I have reported 5 posts (and it was an achievement for me, yes) with 100% accuracy.
I'm closing in on the 2000 mark and it's been at 99% for about a month or so. But, before that I was on 98% for pretty much the whole duration that I was reporting. It's calculated in percentages so you won't see the difference very often if you've reported a large amount of posts. It can take a while to handle some of the reports, normally ones that aren't newbies posting the topic/reply because, of the limited amount of staff higher than patrollers.

I've had to wait for around 6-8 hours for higher than newbies posts to be removed, and 2 hours maximum for newbie posts to be removed/dealt with.

Good reports: Increase accuracy rating.
Bad reports: Decrease accuracy rating.
Ignored/unhandled reports: Won't affect your rating.

Well, that seems to be pretty much everything that I need to know in reporting posts. So far I haven't reported anything that helped me decrease my accuracy in such a thing.

It just takes some time for mods to actually handle your report. While the reports are not handled (some reports might never get handled) they do not influence the accuracy.

I see now. Does that mean that any report that I've made that was not handled by the mods wouldn't affect my current accuracy in submitting these reports?
