If you were talking only about casino slot games here, then I would say that these games do not require much research after playing because winning in them directly depends on luck.

But when it comes to sports betting, I must say that even though the result ultimately depends on luck, playing or betting without doing research or betting on an unfamiliar game is just foolish. I believe the same. Even a little research before placing your bets gives you a small advantage. However, there are also some who, instead of reading articles, etc., look at the odds and based on them, place their bets. Others chase specific bets that you don't need to study at all. Cards, corners, penalties, even draws. I know people with a good winning percentage playing specific bets without knowing or analyzing anything. I think in sports betting the research one needs to do is going back to their history of every team (clubs) to know how they played before and also you must be active football watcher to know how they are playing the games, with all these you can definitely win in football even if people thinks you are not a researcher with the basic foundation in football you would win, but then you must not forget about Luck in every game (be it sports or casino games) we need luck to succeed for long term.

There are many ways to research about any game before betting. Historical data is just one of the ways but if we want to take the best of our research into consideration then aside historical informations like results from past matches played, the bigger picture should be considered as per the team's current form, where they are on the table and the squad they have available approaching the match sometimes whether they play Home or Away.
