When it comes to sport betting doing a good research is very important, those that always study a game very well and conduct a good research about the game and the players always end up winning more than those that don't conduct research
I disagree with that!

The thing about information overload when doing your research means your bias is based on those numbers, which makes you a sitting duck as the stats will give you the favourite!! Take for example Manchester City at the moment,  I can tell you for a fact that everyone that has done there research when it comes to their games of late has lost money...but if you went with your gut feeling and knowing their form you should be in the green!

So what am i saying, of course research might give you an edge but let's not be a blind followers of the numbers, sometimes let's think outside the box to beat the bookies as favourites don't always win.

I do feel like at a minimum a person should check an injury report and see who may or may not be playing in a particular game the day you plan on betting. Sometimes 1 player can make all the difference in a game. I usually like to look at the injury report and the last 5 games when looking at an NFL bet. Might have a look at the weather as well because rain or snow matters a ton if looking at betting the over or under in total points.

Yep research is a bit important for sports betting, sometimes the absence of the main players alone can affect the game so before betting I myself do research what is needed in the match.

At least this is not a random bet, because with the research done can help increase the odds, maybe the winning ratio will be higher than not doing research.

Every bet will definitely do research first, after that just make a bet.
You are very correct here. Sometimes when key players are not featured in matches, the rest of the other team members fumble owing to the fact that their major play maker is not on the pitch which is not healthy for games. When you do your research to the point of knowing the first lineup for a game, it could give clues on what to expect on the performances of the players without their playmaker. So if you could go extra miles to doing your research, you could tell if a team would be able to win or draw a match looking at their first line up if I may say.

I agree with your pointers but still, we should not expect too much after analysis.

What we are doing is, trying to increase the chance and lower the risk of losing. But, there will always be traps and that's when the handicaps will come in. We also have to use logic when it comes to picking the right team. An underdog with a +10 will probably end up losing but it doesn't mean they will really lose by 10. It could end up a close game or a blowout against the favorite.
Look left and right at all the possibilities and we cannot use our emotions when it comes to betting. That's more blind than those who didn't do research because we are just betting for a team that we are a fan of.

When it comes to sport betting doing a good research is very important, those that always study a game very well and conduct a good research about the game and the players always end up winning more than those that don't conduct research, a friend of mine said he usually do not conduct research before playing a game because it never works for him, conducting a research don't mean you will always win the game you predicted but you have a higher chance of winning when you research.
Doing research will help you analyze historical data reveals pattern that can guide your predictions, there are history that will help you make good prediction, Research helps you rely on facts rather than emotions.

Betting without research means you are gambling blindly.

It doesn't always work the way that you're presenting it here because when it comes to sport betting there's no one key to it because experience over time will tell you that wether you conduct a research before playing or not the best of teams can loss at any point in time so carrying out a research is good but is not necessary and it doesn't has anything to do with your winning probability because if it where working most of the casinos and betting companies should have been out of business on just in imagine this last weekend weekend in the German Bundled Liga Bayern Munich with a odds of about 1. 40 losing to a odd of about 6.40 , Turkish super league Besiktas also kissing to the bottom team club in the league come back to the premier league Liverpool and Arsenal what happened to them there's no research that you will conduct that you will see that these teams will draw against these smaller opponent, The fact that we should face when it comes to Gambling is that one it's a game of luck and that when it is your day even the best of teams will loss to smaller teams so in conclusion carrying out a research is good but not necessarily as it has nothing to do with your winning probability

Not only research, you need to be well acquainted with the game rules, the teams playing, the players in the team, and the playing conditions. These are the major factors that affect the game’s outcomes. Suppose you are someone who doesn’t know about volleyball and does research about the game; then there is less chance that you might win bets in this game. As research alone is not sufficient. You should be someone who has an interest in that particular sport and watches the match regularly. Gambling is all about risking your money, so do proper analysis before risking it.

Not only is it important to research the betting before placing the bet, but it is very important to do a thorough due diligence on each action before doing so. If we want to do the work without checking about it, then it will be like throwing a stone in the dark.

Betting is a very risky business, regular bettors know how much scrutiny they do before placing a bet on a match but those who think that there is not much scrutiny before placing a bet are completely wrong. If you do sports betting and if you do not have an idea about the different teams before doing sports betting, then you will not understand which team is good and which team is bad, as a result of which it will be seen that you are betting for the weak team instead of betting for the strong team. And if you never do that, the results will not come in your favor.

Betting without research means you are gambling blindly.
And that's the same when you're too emotional. You're also gambling blindly, gambling without plans and research and you are not well composed. You are gambling to lose and many are doing that and even acknowledges themselves as one of those gamblers that keeps on doing it wrongly. So, it's important to do some research before any matches in any sports that we bet.
A newbie reading your comment will think gambling is one kind or type of special activity that require proper education to understand how to do it well, of which we both know it's not regardless of how special we try to paint it.

When playing a game of luck, your emotions have little to no impact in determining the outcome of your games, what this simply mean is that, you can be emotionally down, derailed but still win your games if and when luck is on your side, while it's also possible to loose games even with your emotions in check, but lack luck on your side.

The state of your mind or emotion when research or analyzing may affect your judgment, but in the end, gambling is gambling and 90 percent of the time, winning depends on luck.

Making research doesn't automatically rule away losses or leads to wins
It just helps reduce the risk about the decision you taking
Certainty comes from the amount of knowledge you have and uncertainty is as a result of lack of significant knowledge.
The more you learnt from your research the less likely it's to loss.
And people that do without researching do so by relying on luck
And we all know how Lady luck is.
The whole point is that we should think about those things before betting that we can influence. It is research and study of statistical data and finding features that most other players do not see that can create a really small advantage for us. And even if it does not increase our winnings over a long period of time, then at least reduce losses or bring us to a zero result. The main thing is that this will most likely have a positive effect on our balance. A smart player should use any small opportunity to increase a possible win. I always do research and will never bet just because I'm bored.

Betting without research means you are gambling blindly.
I'm 100% with you and happy to tell you that your friend gambles amiss. Such like him are the ones who will be crying foul when they have too many losing streaks. Many would always say that gambling is luck-based, I agree, but not in all aspects of it, sports betting is an exception, even though you still need luck in it, it's 50/50 with your expertise and luck. So, you can limit the reliance on luck if you know what you are doing.

In sports betting, I make sure I know everything possible about the teams I am betting and it allows me to know the right options to choose. I still go further in planning the betting well by making them independent of each other, unlike the way many do it to ruin their ticket.

I read the assumptions of several other members regarding your thread, quite varied and subjective. I admit that doing research does not guarantee an accurate prediction. but without knowledge, understanding of the sport itself is the same as throwing away money for nothing in betting, let alone relying only on luck. for me research and analysis are inseparable parts in predicting a match, there are many mechanisms involved in it to be part of the research. the point is, research is important to me regardless of the final result. besides, my focus is not only betting on a team. therefore I do research and analysis to also determine the bets I choose, because that is an important part. regardless of winning or losing, the success or failure of a prediction, all are determined by the final result. don't forget also, sports involve humans in it and may make some mistakes. so just enjoy what we can do, and the unimportant ones don't have a big impact on anything, especially if the predictions from our research and analysis are inaccurate. this is part of betting, especially in sports it is very fun.

I don`t understand what is the thread about. I think that everybody understand that research increases your chances and we don`t need to talk about it. If it is just to remind about it - it would be better to say something about ways of research and information we have to search first of all.
I can afford myself to bet without research only in one situation - when i bet during the match i watching. When i see how the teams play online and can predict the result with my eyes.
When it comes to sports bet it is good to make research about a team's recent performances, individuals players strength and weaknesses in the team and compare them with an opponent team. Although research and analysis doesn't guarantee wins in sports bet but I think that it's part of the fun of sports bet, you get to have a better understanding of teams and individual players capabilities. It's not necessary to research every team that you want to bet on, just research on the teams that you're familiar with and bet what comes to mind with the teams that you're not familiar with.

Isn't it obvious that before we place a bet on a game, we should know about the team? There are probably people who are so lucky that they can guess the right options by placing a blind bet, but this will not continue regularly. Understanding as many factors as possible, such as the condition or health of the team, its position in the tournament table, the location of the game, and even the time interval between games, which can also affect the players' fatigue, should be taken into account. However, it isn't easy to follow so many teams so closely, and probably those who bet on their favorite teams more often get positive results from bets.
I myself when making a bet, of course I have to make sure that I know the team or the team that will compete. Because I have to see their game and how far the difference will later determine which team I should bet on. meeting records, goal productivity, the last few matches I have to see, that is part of the plan before betting, although maybe the results will also be influenced by our luck. Like in the previous week for example, I bet on Bayern Munich, but the results of the match did not favor me because Bayern Munich felt defeat for the first time in the Bundesliga.

Betting without research means you are gambling blindly.
i mean, why will you place your money on something you are not at least sure of. even though we know that gambling is unpredictable and that sometimes regardless of the research you have done, the games can still go contrary to your prediction but not doing any research at all means you are gambling completely blindly. even though apart from gambling a lot of us here are lovers of the games we mostly gamble on and so we know a lot of things that is already playing out in the team, doing a bit of research will take out any form of emotions from your stake and help you make your prediction based on fact and not just the outcome of just the last game the team partook in.

information like the potential lineup the coach is using for the game, the injury concern of the team and the extent of fitness of the both players can even give you better information that will guide your decision than relying just on some piece of information you are just disposed of on your own. there is no way when you compare the outcome of a man that does research before gambling to another that doesn't do any research that the latter will have better result than the former except the former doesn't have any knowledge on what he is betting on.

Agreed, the preliminary research on the relevant  matter allows to make well-reasoned decisions in the course of betting. Generally human beings tend to some kind of  irrationality in decision-making being bent of their feelings rather than facts they face. For instance, when fans bet on outcome of match which involves their  favored team they bet more than often on this team rather then on its rival though the real facts may evidence that  competitor is much stronger and has the better chance to win.

I mean I wouldn't reject people who gamble blindly but in that case, I'd very much tell them to just play games like dice, crash, and stuff instead of doing sports gambling lol. Sports gambling differ from regular gambling games exactly because you can (and are able to) skew the odds to yourself with research. Granted said research doesn't guarantee jack since there's like infinite factors involved (and games themselves have some factor of luck) so it's still partly gambling, but at the very least you can affect it by knowing what the hell is happening.

And in general, sports are just fun to watch while knowing stuff!
