VPN (or whatever you think that means) won't do anything, as the "P" in P2P is peer - by the very definition, you are sharing with others you don't know, who can monitor your downloading - just making the connection with peers "secure" doesn't matter, since you can't "trust" anybody not to be the bad guys. You can block some suspect IP addresses though.

What are you talking about?

By using a VPN proxy the bad seeders only get the VPN proxy address.  Your ISP ip address remains hidden to the entire p2p cloud.

I havn't downloaded anything in months but I never ever got a threat letter. Don't you use peerblock, or use any other ways to prevent them watching.

I believe a VPN is the only way to stop it. Even your internet provider can't watch your traffic. Large copyright holders seem to be distributing their own work through torrents. Then they just make a list of all the ip's downloading it. Then they contact your ISP. It's possible they are watching torrent traffic some other way, I have not really looked into it. They appear to only notice certain downloads. Recent releases, I wouldn't worry about anything over a year old. Also, if your not using a large ISP company like verizon or charter. You probably won't hear from them. Your ISP is not required to take any action without a court order, but you know how those large companies are...
You just need to download a blocklist of known bad IPs and use this in your torrent program - Vuze has an IP Filters option where you import the list. Bluetack distributes such a list, but since they are in "donation telethon" mode, here's a link to the July 10 list.

I'll bet somebody would have bought you a ticket to Spiderman for 3 BTC...

Why would someone pay for a torrent account? http://thepiratebay.se/ is the best one. Although I find http://www.icefilms.info and http://www.2leech.com/ more useful. Plus, torrents are all monitored by companies like HBO now. I'm tired of their threat letters..

It's such bullshit. He tells me I'm getting the fucking ferrari of torrent sites and it turns out to be a fucking datsun.
If that's the analogy, you owe him 30BTC. Datsun created the highest selling sports car of all time. When the 240Z was released, it beat the 911 in SCCA racing and cost 1/3 the price. People used to buy them at sticker in CA and drive them across the country where they were harder to get, and sell them for 30% more.

So you're saying "I offered to overpay him for an Italian "super" car whose main value is as a status symbol, and instead I got incredible value for my money from the company who is most famous for reliability and savings."

 Grin

That being said, if he sold you the site in a misleading way, then that seems like a failure to deliver what he promised. Hard to sympathize with someone selling invites regardless.

As PTSeller requested, I sent him back the account details so he can use it himself. I refuse to pay for something of such low quality, sorry if that hurts anyones feelings.
PTSeller, is it true that you accepted the return? If so, did either of you say anything about a refund before you requested it?

Sounds like you owe him 3btc.

Indeed, and it probably will end up getting you a scammer tag. You had an agreement, he fulfilled his end of the deal, and you're refusing to honor yours. Is it really worth 3 btc?
