You're correct, Ripple transactions are virtually instant. It appears that Bitstamp is having to manually clear transactions from time to time. Perhaps because their hotwallet runs out. Bitstamp devs, any comment?

Did they explain why the problem is happening in the first place? Sooner or later, there will be many users like us, with each transfer getting stuck/disappearing and lots of accusations.... Therefore this warning, until this problem is fixed.

They work on GMT +1 timezone. It's 2 am in there right now..

I'm sure this will be sorted out. They've a good support team.

Have you contacted them? I had 1 BTC get stuck in limbo like that – I sent them a message with the transaction ID, and about a day later it showed up in my account. Not ideal, but I didn't lose anything.
