Why are they not listing this mini price???

they never answered my email about a review and a group buy.

I am a bit frustrated. I would be interested in 20x

sell 15 keep 5.  I would have liked a reply to the email sent last week.

They were good about the avalon 4.1

I got 1 to review free of charge
I got 1 at a good discount
I got one at a small discount.

It was nice gear. I was hoping to get some of these new ones.

That's quite the hardware. Seems good to run it on ECO mode for 500 GH/s for only 30% of the power. Otherwise it looks solid.

10 moq is not to worry.

Depending on price... But it looks nice anyway.  Smiley

If only it could beat BM1384 in the sense of Wt/Gh ratio...

And they would charge like $800 for it.  May take a flyer on one or two of the minis as a desk piece.

Yeah this was my thinking. If there is a MOQ, I will probably do a group buy.  Grin

Well if they work on Avalon 4 Mini I guess it will take time before Avalon 5 exist.  Tongue

That could be nice cause the Avalon 4.1 is rock solid and quiet.  Grin

I won a Avalon from Kano's pool. I can't get it set up. When I go to network settings my only choice is  LAN network settings but no WAN network.
Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance

you can borrow/rent a FLUKE from HomeDepot for a weekend. It's cheaper than buying one.
Ask them for a recently calibrated one. Fluke is neat with setups ..

I am too lazy to find the photos I took with the same gear running and the two meters.  but somewhere. I posted I have a high meter and a low one.  In fact I ordered a third meter  to test and run a thread showing that the kwatts are only so good.

It comes on thursday .

I think I will run a  short thread about it.

Next time get a meter with a NIST calibration certificate and better accuracy / repetability Smiley it helps keeping the number or meters low ..

I got the second kwatt so I now have 3 meters

one of these

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E945SJG/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1423327571&sr=1&keywords=watt+meter

two of these

http://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423327601&sr=8-1&keywords=watt+meter

the tsa model reads 720 and both p4400 meters read 692 on a s-5 using the evga 1300 g2 and overclocked to freq 412

that is a big difference problem is I am not sure which one to believe.
I am burning about 6 kwatts so if the higher reading is real I would be burning 6250 or so kwatts .

Back to my review I got tracking for the avalon 4 it is due to arrive  on  monday.

If you run them on normal mode (~690w) You will need a bigger one. 1600.

Power usage is 700watt.

690w at the wall, not pre PSU.

Ahh, it's only 10 watt. I use 700 watt for easy calculation.
None of the reviewer ever measure the real load on 12V rail. Real load on 12V will helping with psu choose.
I mean measure with current meter not by calculation.

@Valkir  Ill definitely let you know and PM you before I order.

I am considering buying a couple of these since the Antminer S5s Are quite loud with factory installed fans.  I have 9 S3s running and they get louder as they add up, but are quieter then the S5 that I purchased.   I wanted an alternative that was quieter - If these do in fact run at around 30dB or anything less then the 56dB that the S5s run at with a 1K Hash rate It will definitely be my choice for upgrading.

Thanks all for the PS recommendations.  Ill probably get the separate 850 PSUs

I will be getting one and post testing results.  I see this miner as the perfect substitute for this

Right now the eco mode on the 4.1 firmware is 250watt and 500gh.
I guess the 400watt and 800 gh could be reach but I need to check the voltage and freq.

Will try to check that as soon as I can.

yeah I am trying to make a case for miners to buy this.  the 250 watt and 500 gh gets the job done on the  watts per gh level .5 watts is competitive. but the hash rate is too low.
Simply put I know of a lot of miners that plug in 1 s-3 or 2 s-3's run them at freq 300 to lower the noise and run them in a free power spot.
both the s-5 and sp20 are not that good to do that.  they are both quite a bit louder then the s-3 is at freq 300.

So your miner would be the best choice if you can prove it does 400 watts 800 gh and is quiet.  I was going to buy one and try to do this to help sale of this item. but after I was smacked around quite a bit in this thread

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/philipma1957s-attempt-to-rate-current-manufacturers-of-asic-results-in-938256

I just lost a lot of wind from my sails. Most of us in these threads on hardware can do the math and know both the s-5 and sp20  make more sense then this gear does.
I am picking the case where the avalon 4 could be a winner and asking can you prove it?

What is the best power supply for these Avalon 4s?  If i buy two of them, can i run them off my Corsair AX1200i?

Power usage is 700watt.

If you want to run 2 miner on 1 psu, you will need at least corsair AX1500i. Price about 400 usd.

But more cheaper if you run 1 miner on 1 psu. You can use corsair CX850. Price about 120 usd.

this miner is supposed to run at 800 gh and 400 watts on a low setting also be quiet.  so far no one has shown clear info of a screen mining at 800gh  with a kwatt meter at 400 watts and a sound meter at 50db or so.

the miner
would have a real value to many if the above  ratings are true.

I run 2 s-3's in an office with a flat power rate of 2.4 cents I use  1 psu about 620 watts to get 840gh form those 2 s-3's

I could run 2 of these on my 1200 watt psu get 1600gh at 800 watts and it would be quieter then the s-3's are at freq underclock of 312.

Many miners across the entire world have a spot to run a few miners at very low rates. like me 2 limits sound and power.
Would be nice to see some clear info on this.  There are only two threads on site with this miner dogie's and this one.

I read both and can not determine setup ease.
I don't know exact power used at the low setting.  are the 400 watt 800 gh setting possible?

I was on 8125 for the voltage. I changed it to 8000.

Just to clarify, if you've got a 4.1 unit with latest firmware then its got an autovoltage setting. If you leave that on and manually change the voltage, its very likely still going to end up at the same final voltage - which is the lowest each mini module (5 per module, 10 per unit) can get to without chips dropping out.

Is a 0.5W/GH achievable on the Avalon4, by Undervolting and Underclocking?

Yes you can get 800gh for ~410w. Its the eco mode.  Grin

Have you tried mining with the eco mode? What was your Power consumption at the wall?

The specs on the  Avalon4 site claims 570W / 1THASH and this review reports 694Watts.
https://ehash.com/product/avalon4-module-1t/

I was on 8125 for the voltage. I changed it to 8000. Need to recheck the meter.
Doing it right now. Will post the new pic in 30 min.  Grin

Edit: I click on ECO mode and bring me to 500gh for 250 w
Im on the firmware 4.1. Will need to check with Avalon for the specs.

I read this can do 820gh and 400 watts.  Or maybe it was 800gh and 420watts.

An underclock would be nice to test.
The evga 1300 g2 should do 90 or 91% at 690 watt level.

If you leave auto voltage on I'm not actually sure what will happen to the final voltage, or if the 8000 will just act as a starting voltage.

Thanks for the review.

What PSU was used? Would like to know how efficient it is.

Its a EVGA 1300

0,7 watt/Gh is not good unless you had free power. I wonder if you able to downclock the miner & see the efficiency.

He's on an EVGA 1300 (helped him set it up). Its probably losing some efficiency being down at 40% loading as he's getting the same power draw on his 4.1 as I am on my 4.0. And 4.0 comes with slightly better DC/DC and automatic voltage control. Its not as advanced as Spondoolies' which varies speed and voltage, but it does keep minimising the voltage to find what is the absolute minimum you can get away with while remaining stable, for a given speed.

This is my first official review. I have not been paid for it. I made it to help people make a better choice.

Chips = 40x 28nm Avalon 4 A2322
Hashrate = 1000GH
Power Consumption = ~690W

- This is after 1h

There is a nice thick foam to protect each side.

All parts are wrapped.

They send 2 connectors. To be able to connect multiple Avalon together.

Avalon 4 VS S5 Size

And now the web platform!

Clean and easy to use. I got a steady 1Th without any problem.

The sound is awesome. One thing that I really didn't like on the S5 was the sound. The Avalon4 do almost no sound. The fan run between 1600 to 4000 but even at 4000 the sound is not a problem. I guess for a home miner, the Avalon4 could be a better miner for the sound.

With the S5 you needed 2 fans to drop the sound. With the Avalon 4, you need a raspberry pi if you dont want to connect it to your computer directly.

The quality of the enclosure is really good. The metal is thick and the part seems perfectly assembled.

This is the raspberry pi image for 4.1 firmware.

I hope this would help you to choice the best miner.

I got a S5 and Avalon4. I do believe each one got is + and -

Price on 27-01-2015 : Avalon 4 = 1.87 BTC + 25$ of border = 1.97 BTC
                                     S5 = 1.427 BTC + 90$ of border = 1.77 BTC

If you have any problem, do not hesitate.

EDIT: If you are running on 4.1 firmware, be sure to be at 8000 on chip voltage.

Cheer
