Note: this miner was supplied to me for free by spondoolies legendary members promotion - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closed-legendaries-review-party-of-spondoolies-techs-sp20-887807Alright so I just got this is yesterday and set it up today... here we go...
The packaging The device is boxed in a way so that there is plenty of room for the box to get smashed and bumped without damage to it, a good thing for something thats going to be shipped overseas. Speaking of shipping, this came really fast, 4 days!
The miner The miner itself is fairly cool looking, like a big silver kitkat bar. Its got your standard miney-bits, and 4 6 pin connector slots for power. I'm using 2 750 watt corsair psus... this thing is loud!
Here it is set up in my garage, I tried using a raspberry pi with an ethernet bridge however it doesnt seem to want to work. The wifi settings dont work either, and after I updated the firmware - seemed to be disabled completely...
NOISE
heres a video of how loud it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj0qnzHEzIk&feature=youtu.beIts really loud! but, since its in my garage its not a big deal. With the door closed you can hardly hear it. I live in a townhouse and it sounds like when someone in the house over is vacuuming, not a big deal
SETUP
This thing is a ease in the butt to set up. its actually easier than setting up the BFL jalapeno i used to have. Though comparing this miner to BFL is very bad, im sorry i even said that.
I had a lot of issues setting up a wireless way to mine, but later on I just plugged it into my main router. I only mined for a bit to test because the main router is in the family room and the noise/power consumption is too much for that area but it was easy. In the future I plan on setting this up in a better area, but with home renovations/ diy stuff going on I didnt have the ability to currently.
The mining part is easy, just plug in myminer.io and it lists all the miners on your network and their status and IP. If you are connected to wifi - you can even check it out on your phone which is very useful! I'd assume if you use a VPN or wrote your own software you could easily check up on the miner away from home- but thats for another time. anyway, my rating of this miner is 8/10 - Very Nice. The best miner I have ever used. My standards for a 10/10 would be a noiseless solar miner, so 8/10 is very good
