You're going to blow out your mobo or melt your 24-pin 12V wires.  Too much power draw from MOBO need to use powered risers.  You've been warned.

Has anyone calculated to see what's the most optimum hardware for BTC generation (in terms of cost efficiency?)

Or is the best thing to grab an older gerneration ATI card?

If you're doing 3d work on it, wouldn't that mean you can't mine during that time and reduce your income?

There is no way that case will keep will keep 4x cards cool unless they are runnning in a freezer. Hell my HAF932 has issues with dual gtx 470's if it's hot out.

1st the case is open.  2nd i cuted the plate that holds the motherboard, leaving enougth steel to keep integrity . 3th the mining/render rigs r on the basement. where i have A/C and i leave on a place where the average temp is 6 °C.   the cards run now at 56°C~66°C  and now the temperature of my building is better the other ppl thx for it.  an average of 16°C. without turning on the Calefaction.

note i have 6 running now. 6x4 gpus stucks at customs.  i m8 need to pay a fee to get them out. exceded the limit per person on the import. lols

EDIT:
for those having problems with the 4th CARD and this MOBO  try upgrading the bios
you can find them here http://www.msi.com/product/mb/890FXA-GD70.html#?div=BIOS try with 1.6 or higher.

what worse could happen is bitcoin price crashes and you are left with some oversized heaters...

Difficulty and price are closely related.  i.e. When price falls, mining is less/no longer profitable.  People leave in droves and hence the difficulty drop.

If you are betting on difficulty to drop, adjust the bitcoin price in the calculation by the same percentage drop if not more.

Making your purchase dependent on a future difficulty drop is a very bad idea.
Yes, I don't see the difficulty drop as much any time soon unless in case of a BTC crash. All the more so since we have people like you who explain how profitable the current difficulty still is Cheesy
Just my 0.02 BTC Wink

Is to get an estimated profit only. thats not my main buissness.

Making your purchase dependent on a future difficulty drop is a very bad idea.

im praying for the price to go up

It could rise instead of drop.

i need the equptment. i do 3d animations. Cheesy mining will be my side buissness. to pay bills. Cheesy

the worst thing.. that i will sell one or 2 of the rigs. bc i will still use the other 10. for 3d animation.
