Nice I must applaud you, but people from Africa to needs to be enlightened, there are vast population of Africans(in Africa or around the world) who has caught the interest of bitcoin. Some are not fluent in English or just to shy to come out. Like you said bitcoin is for the world and I believe it has the power in bringing people together and killing social vices like racism, stigmatisation, stereotype, xenophobia and so on.
Blindly it will be a pleasure for me to help them. There is some user on our forum who are working with African community to enrich their knowledge vault about crypto world. I will be glad to provide any kind of service for them if it helps them to increase their knowledge about bitcoin. Yeah i agree with you that they have communication gap and its because they are not fluent in English. Hopefully its not gonna be a big issue if they got thrust for learning new things. Bitcoin is the which has no border limit and our community is the real example for that. Different people from different countries are working together here as a family. So if we get much more bitcoin lovers from Africa then its obviously gonna spread the name of bitcoin on a large scale.

Congrats. I did try to help members from The Philippines in the Fit to Talk forum, but that seems to have died down a lot. I'll try to rebuild that over the next few months. Members from The Philippines, Venezuela and similar countries are important for the future of Bitcoin in my opinion. We need to ensure that the distribution of Bitcoin wealth is retained amongst the people of the world, and not just kept by the bankers.

Its a great step for the people of Philippines, Venezuela and other similar countries. Don't give up from providing your service for them. Maybe you are not getting enough responses but it can be changed in upcoming days. Spreading the name of bitcoin and connecting more people with our community is always a great thing. Have a lots of best wishes from my end.

Thank you for your initiative in helping new people. Now I need real help. I am actively working on releasing some valuable content about Merit's acquisition, but these don't seem to get attention and improvement, but I still want to thank you. You, let the new person see the hope
I have already checked your post history and you are completely new on the forum. In one of your post you are asking for merit indirectly and it proves that still you didn't feel it necessary to read forum rules before starting your activities here. AFAIK getting merits isn't a funny game. Every single merit comes as a reward for good contribution. Expecting merits too early from your situation wouldn't be a good idea.

For this time i have got only one suggestion on my brain and that is "Try to read forum rules before starting to post anything, anywhere"

As a forum member i am so proud that i have got community friends like you all guys. From the beginning of my forum journey i always tried to tell about this forum is that we are not only community members here, we are a family together. I am blessed that i got same kinda behavior from all the members i discussed or seeking for help through PM. Because of my personal life or workload sometimes my activity wasn't so highlighted but whenever i engaged myself with anything that relates with forum i tried my best to serve. I will try my best to continue it in future too.

I wanna say something for our newbies or upcoming users. Please don't lose your hope. Every single section of this forum is full with valuable knowledge's. Try to build your knowledge vault stronger by spending quality here. Be greedy to earn knowledge rather than earn money at the very beginning of your forum journey. I always believe that its not possible to buy experience through money. Whatever you learn from here its all yours.

One small little tip I'll give you, is to try and resize images to a smaller format when you add them to a topic.
I've been using an open-source screenshot tool called ShareX for that, works great and also automatically uploads images to imgur, plus you can resize them from inside the app.
Thanks for the great advice mate. I wanna let you know that i usually use big images to make it easier for viewers. Sometimes they can recognize scammers and real persons face without visiting the source link Smiley.

Definitely a great achievement with the merit system in place!
You definitely have to contribute a lot to get to Sr. Member rank and looking at your post history, it's pretty clear you've done so.

I think you assist newbies , so i will be so thankful if i get merit. Thanks in advance.
Why are you desperate to earn a merit? If it's to rank up to Jr member and participate in ICO bounties, then you're definitely going to be walking on the wrong path.
If you take a second to go through the preceding comments before yours, you'll see the word effort, determination, quality, helpful, decent etc, those are the characteristics your post must embody to enable you to rank up, and you wouldn't have to beg for it, users would be glad to give them to you.

Start up with building your account to a reasonable rank and also increasing your reputation on the forum, if you're able to do that, in the long run you'll be glad you did, but one thing you must know is that it takes time, so you'll need to be patient.

I think you assist newbies , so i will be so thankful if i get merit. Thanks in advance.
Firstly, there is no newbies jump directly into Meta, after making only four posts before this one.
Secondly, begging for merits does not make sense, and does not help merit beggars to earn a single merits.
Lastly, Low-content posts are considered as rule violations, by admin. Addtionally, merits suggested to give to only good posts.
Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.
< ... >
  • Low-content posts: Do not post low-content garbage like "agreed!", "nice project!", etc. You can be banned for this, and it's also pointless if you want to increase your rank, since you will never get merit for such posts.
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Congrats on your latest achievement @TalkStar

I also reached Hero status today, so it is really doable. I was already a Senior Member when the merit system was introduced, I take everything in stride and challenge myself that I will be Hero and that day has been realised today. I'm sure you will have your day and became a Hero and just continue to be motivated day-in day out.
Congrats! I recently saw you getting active in our local board. Looking forward to seeing more of your informative posts there.

Hey, you're fortunate that you've got some generous merit-givers on your local board.  I know a lot of local boards have a dearth of merit sources and members often have a hard time getting their posts merited there.  I wish that wasn't the case, but hopefully we'll get some improvement on that eventually.
Aside from locals being generous, our board also had some help from @Darkstar_

Congrats!  Wink
Congratulations to you as well, just noticed from here that you need 8 merit to rank up for Hero Member. And you are lucky enough that today is my last day of merit distribution from source merit. Tomorrow will refill again my source smerit. So I sent you 8 merit from my source smerit instead of send individually to other users. You are now Hero Member.

You deserve it, it will just be a matter of effort and I'll be wearing that same signature you have. Just keep doing what brings you to that level and surely the next in line rank for you will be not that difficult to reach. Congrats and hope that many will be inspired by your thread, another great win by the merit system.

ROAD TO HERO MEMBERSHIP

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my thread. Today i am going to share my little feelings of achieving Sr. membership rank with you all. At first from the deepest layer of my heart i wanna give millions of thanks to them who encouraged me to get into this stage. It was quite impossible for me to achieve this rank such in a short time without our community members help, guideline and encouragement. So i think all the credits goes to them.

My bitcointalk journey wasn't so smooth but i tried my best to learn every new thing which were completely unknown to me. I always tried my best to help our newbies who are completely new on this community. After the implementation of new merit system there were so many users who were getting worried about the system of new rank achievements. Yeah obviously it was hard to rank up but not impossible. I just wanna tell them; "Keep believe on you and work hard".

Every ending is nothing but a new beginning. After completing the journey of achieving Sr membership its time to move for hero membership. I hope i will get everyone beside me to complete my next milestone.

Congratulations TalkStar,
and thank you for helping clean up Bitcointalk forum with exposing scam projects.
There is so much scammers that we need all possible help in exposing them.

I can see you as Hero member soon! Wink

Congratulations to talkstar, it's not a thing of luck to rank up really, you don't just stumble on it, you must have to put in work and effort and you've done so, the feeling of achievement is one good feeling to taste, having being merited over 250 times is quite an achievement, congratulations.
I also reached Hero status today, so it is really doable.
You're one poster on the forum i admire so much, you're always there to assist newbies and warn them of fraudulent scammers waiting in the wings, you are a paradigm of the fact that the merit system works and serves a very good purpose.
Posters such as yourself helped to encourage me when the new merits system was introduced, then I thought no chance in hell am i going to rank up higher than the Jr member rank(1 merit)

But today in less than a year I'm just 8 merits away from full membership.
Congratulations baofeng.

TalkStar, who ranked up to Senior Member recently, told about his story.
Road to hero membership (by TalkStar)
Congratulations, TalkStar!
You put decent efforts into your posts during your time in the forum, and you deserve the badge for Senior Member. It makes more sense when you started from scratch, and went a long journey, from zero to Senior Member. Merit system takes one year and around 3 months from you (since May 2018), but eventually you made it!

I'm just an average member of this forum but still keeping to be a good poster at my local.

Yes, there are many merit-givers and I'm still receiving enough merits even we didn't have merit source way back in 2018. In my case, I'm started grinding since day 1 of the merit system introduction so I managed to rank up in Sr. Member and finally become a Hero Member this day, August 14, 2019.

There are some merit sources from the international section that lend us help in our Philippines local board when our merit source's stash became zero. I always find ways to sustain and motivate myself to keep creating quality posts that's why I always reach my goal.  Wink

I'm an optimistic person and I hope all of us should be like that to be more active and confident in reaching our success in life.

Congrats!  Wink

Congratulations OP for your achievement. You have proved once again that quality poster could rank up.
Ditto.  I think most members who registered after the merit system was introduced have little chance of attaining Sr. Member rank at all, or at least not within several years at best.  OP is one of the few examples of members capable of doing so, and to those lower-ranked members and assorted newbies who are perplexed as to how they're supposed to rank up when no one is giving them any merits, take a look at OP's posts and use them as sort of a guideline.

No doubt TalkStar will reach Hero Member eventually if he keeps up the good work.  He's still got a ways to go in terms of activity, but he might actually earn the required merits well before the activity.  Props to him.  And just wait until the game is on to reach Legendary.  Hopefully he won't have to wait until the very last activity period before he gets there, assuming he has enough merits by then.  Not sure how many members have truly earned Legendary status by clawing their way through the merit and activity barriers, but I can't imagine it's that many.  It's rarified air to be sure.

I'm just an average member of this forum but still keeping to be a good poster at my local.
