With their fees so high, I would only use one of these things only if I was in an extreme emergency and I happened to be near one. I would use it, but not with those high prices. Mucn easier to use coinbase or another type and wait the 3 days.
The fees (spread) is set by the individual owner/operators of the ATM. When you sell via a BTC ATM it will generally not be reported to the IRS as you do not give them that kind of identifying information. The same is true if you were to buy bitcon at an ATM

Every step to bring BTC to mainstream is useful especially the use of easy access ATMs.

I personally won't use it since it provides less anonymity and just seems more difficult to use than Bitcoin.

I am here to tell you, robocoin is too expensive, too much verification
THIS
They need the verification steps in order to comply with AML/KYC regulations. If the operator does not require these verifications then they will be shut down and face both financial and legal negative consequences.

AFAIK robocoin is the only BTC ATM company that produces ATMs that allow people to sell their bitcoin.
Definitely wrong.

I am here to tell you, robocoin is too expensive, too much verification and there is no robocoin at my location.
I think you are missing the point.  Of course it is too expensive.  Of course it is way too crazy with four scans of palm print.  BUT!  It works.  It is WAY ahead of its time.  Totally impractical.  But, somebody is actually making real stuff that works - compared to all this talk and vaporware.  It is working hardware.  The future is bright for Robocoin if they keep it up.  Who cares about insanely low fees, these are early days and the novelty alone is worth the opportunity to use a Robocoin just for the hell of it.

iam not against atms but why shouldnt i use the atms of the other 6 atm companies instead?

Other then that, there is no real reason as to why you should use an ATM made by a specific manufacturer then another as the competitiveness of a specific ATM is based on the owner/operator of the ATM

I am here to tell you, Robocoin ATM rocks.  I took a few mining bitcoins to my local Robocoin.  Holy crap, when I saw those hundreds pop out I was impressed.  I recommend you try one today.

Yeah, my friend has been talking about this whole weekend

Yeah, I agree. Something this complex simply defeats the purpose of an ATM machine

I think high fees are there to manage the cost of maintaining these Atms and if someone needs  to cash-out in a hurry these Atms would be really useful. My only concern is the verification, what sort of verification process do these have, as I don't have access to these?

Robocoin? shouldn't this be on the altcoin section?
This shit is too complicated, it will never take off within the popular. We need easy ass ATM experiences.

It has to start from somewhere. These machines will be improved on and after a few generations they will be more user friendly.

The spread that you "pay" for using any BTC ATM (including robocoin) is set by the operator. This spread is to compensate the ATM operator for the cost of funds (they must hold both bitcoin and cash) as well as for the convenience of being able to buy/sell BTC at the location the ATM is located at.

The verifications are required to remain AML/KYC complaint. If you feel the required verifications are excessive then I would suggest that you contact your congressman to try to get the AML/KYC laws to become more relaxed
