That's gambling for you, sometimes you are in your lucky day and you make some money, sometimes you end up losing money that you didn't expected at all. I have seen periods when I literally made 10x and more of my deposit in a day, not common and rarely ever happens but I was just lucky and it happened maybe once or twice (happened once, the second time was lower but still huge to me) whereas there are also days when I end up losing so many times in a row that I end up not having any deposit left in just 10 minutes of bad luck.

Gambling in the sense of the word is literally just that, you have no idea what will happen, maybe you will get rich, maybe you will get lucky, or maybe everything will crash and you will be left with nothing but your broken heart.
