This is 2015.  Anyone can ban any website and anyone with half a brain can figure a way to access whatever website they want to.  Politics-R-dum

Dont be that sure tho, most people dont know what a proxy is actually.

governments are dumb, the masses are even dumber

I agree but this still sounds like more of a political topic instead of economic was my point I guess.  Still good to put it all in perspective.

A gas station with a midget in a rusty tank bans bitcoin.....
I'm scared

Russia is really big country so it could have been bit part of market. Look it on an world map if you don't know about it.

Yeah look on the map...
Big country ...and?
France and Germany combined produce twice as much agricultural products and have 4x times their gdp....
Big and....
Do you have a clue how much of that land in totally inhabitable and not suited for anything?
Average wage below gipsyland and hungerstrikeria?

They are the ones with the most to loose if they continue down this path. I would love to see the effect on their economy in a few years should they continue to hold their position.

IT's no use, bitcoiner still can use Tor browser to access bitcoin website
They just waste their time to block bitcoin websites
True, but if we want mainstream adoption that is a big hit against that motive. People that use Tor is a minimum part of the population and they are knowledgeable people, not mainstream people.

Where do you find that species in Russia?

I though all this blocking happens only in developing countries.

They can close a few sites but the can never ban bitcoin, it is impossible. However I hope that they one day will accept completely bitcoin , why should they ban him ? It is better than them coin (ruble).

That only makes it more difficult for the average Joe to get BTC but smarter Russians know how to get around those difficulties.

thats correct, but according to the article if caught they are facing some hefty fines. And who knows what else Mr.Putin will decide to enforce upon Russians... he is slowly losing it if you ask me ( though some might argue he lost it long time ago .. )
