Russian Roulette is an extremely dangerous gambling where the highest price  is  your life. I have found online simulator of this game and has been shot to death at the first attempt (BtW, having 16,66% chance outcome). The sixth attempt always ends in firing (100% death). I would never gamble with the real  gun.

It can't be real. It sounds like a movie scene where the villain tries to play this game of death with the main character where they put a single bullet in a revolver, take rounds by spinning the cylinder and shooting the other in the head, and at the end, the lead character manages to kill the villain and the movie ends. I can't think of any person in the world willingly playing a game like this even if the bet on stake is in millions because it's not worth it.

Imagine a person playing such a game and them dying out of the fear of getting shot when the gun is on their head even if the bullet isn't in the chamber, lol. Such things can happen, so I don't think it can be a legal gambling game anywhere in the world no matter how bad the laws of a country are.

Do you think carrying weapons can be legal in normal civilized countries?

Welcome to Wyoming, a place where every fourth person own a gun Cheesy

Nevertheless, I would say Russian roulette is a gambling game, as it has most components of gambling, a bet (life), chance and luck. I doubt that anyone really plays it, as the risk is to high. I dont think that anyone would pull trigger for any money offered. Instead they would point the gun on opponent and take money Cheesy However, I do believe that some crazy dudes play this game for real, and we simply dont get any proof of that. Because if someone dies in this game, then his opponent should be a accomplice to murder. Nobody wants such truth to come out Cheesy

Do we have people from Russia here who have experienced or witnessed where the game "Russian roulette" has been played?
If only in the movies.

I was just reading about some kind of game, and I happened to come across it. I have watched a movie where such a game is being played, but I never believed such a game could be legal.
How can this be legal when there are firearms in the game and someone's life is at stake?

A game that's played at the expense of one's life, if you are unlucky that very day, will all end in the loser losing his life or being shot in any part of the body that the pistol is placed on, and the winner will walk home with the winning award.
In a sense, Russian roulette can be called gambling, because there is an element of chance (whether a shot will be fired or not) and reward (life), but I would not classify it as entertainment and traditional gambling with bets and prize money.

Does this kind of game still exist? That's if it was ever played the way I read about it online.
Even if such a game exists in reality, then we will not be able to find out about it, because some players will not talk about it because of the criminality of this game, and other participants will not be physically able to do this. Smiley

And how can people take risk of playing such game ?
If people are left with no choice, then they are forced to play this deadly game. I want to say that Russian roulette players don't play of their own free will, but under psychological pressure.

Russian roulette is not a game of chance at all. This is a kind of duel. It is carried out between two enemies or ill-wishers, but at the same time the relations of these people are subject to a certain code of honor. Presumably, it originated among Russian officers in the 19th or 20th century. In this case, of course, it is not assumed that anyone will win money. As a rule, one of the two players dies. Purely theoretically, this game can be played by more than two people. This game is the fruit of the sick imagination of crazy people.
In those days, honor meant almost everything, so some equated it in this way with a person’s life itself, which of course is not correct. But at that time they had such views; now it seems to us complete savagery and inadequacy. Sometimes even when I see this in films, mostly about some bandits, I feel uneasy about how much life depends on luck at a particular moment, it is especially scary when one of the players pulls the trigger. I would not even recommend watching films in which everything is not real for impressionable people or those with an unstable psyche.

Do you think carrying weapons can be legal in normal civilized countries? It can be taken by people who have permission and those who will not use weapons for such games. Therefore, as a Russian-speaking citizen, I can confidently say that no, such “fun” is not allowed. However, some people like to play with life, walk on the “blade” without understanding the value of life, and play such a game. And these are not necessarily Russians, despite the name of the game.

That's a good game, I really interested to play watch it. Cheesy

Stupid people are available everywhere so you will find stupid people to undertake such activities. You will find some reports from old archives where people have actually lost their lives in the past due to such stupid Russia Roulette game. But thankfully, it's not widespread.
They're not stupid, instead they're hopeless people. People who take a part of this game are poor people who want to change their life, even if they didn't get the prize, it would end their miserable life. So, they might think it's a win-win solution for them, either of the choice make them happy.

Maybe there are other variations where they are not using guns and the games are not as life threatening as this one. Simple games but with the concept of having that chance of having none or all.
You make me remember with this game, it's a turn based game where two or more people need to press the crocodile teeth, if you press the wrong tooth, it will bite you.

I wouldn't be too surprised if this Russian roulette was actually played at one time but I guess that it must've been an illegal game. Humans have been known to involve in dangerous games and adventures that involves risks and lose of lives. I've seen videos where people play games that normal people will consider stupid, taking chances and risking their lives for thrills and gambling sake or just to entertain others. Who knows all sorts of other dangerous games and gambling that people engage in illegally, I'm glad that no government and gambling companies will allow suicide games..

we can say that russian roulette is a very extreme gambling because you gamble your life there where when the cylinder is rotated you hope that one bullet inside will not penetrate your head. and practices like this still often occur, especially this is often used by the mafia to scare their opponents. but if a person willingly to participates in such a game, perhaps he is a pretty stupid person and is ready to die.

Don’t worry. I don’t think people still do this for fun. You will encounter this in movies mostly action ones. But in real life it is not so common, I think, especially if done for fun.

It's usually played by mafia people or something similar to them nowadays though right? It probably still exists, there's some sick people (in the head) out there who would ask people to do this sometimes just because lol. Outside of that well I've only ever seen it in a few games as well as films. It's kind of understandable-ish like at your first try (in a game ok? Not irl) why it makes you feel the thrill but yeah, wouldn't accept any amount to do this thing.

People risk their lives in dumb ways, pretty sure this is just one of the most straightforward ones.

I heard the mafia guys played it when they were drunk or they made people who did something wrong like owed money to play it as a warning.
There's a movie from 2011 called 13 where a guy has to play Russian Roulette to win money along with other participants and there can be only one winner left in the end. Watch it if you like these things.
To answer the question in the thread, I've never seen this in real life and I live in Europe, traveled a lot, been to some of the countries where you could expect to see or hear these things, like Slovakia, Poland, or Hungary, but nope, nobody does it, people are civilized there. Maybe if you borrow money from the mafia, they'll make you play Tongue

It's gambling alright but the cost is the ultimate cost. Your life.

So called "Russian roulette" is more of a Cinema scene rather than a reality. There's close to zero situations where it would make any sense to play "Russian roulette" as if human life was a game. And to a large extent it's a cruel joke on Russians to dehumanize then on the west. I'd say don't pay too much attention on a cold war joke. It's still being used to make Russian people seem cruel and inhumane when in reality they are just like us, facing similar or exactly the same struggles in their daily lives.

I hope it's not in practice anymore cause it's crazy not really worth the risk.

I remember the term from money heist series on which Tokyo plays on Berlin. Cheesy

To answer your question it's not really considered as Game, it's considered as Suicide or murder in legal terms so don't challenge the system cause there are many incidents people went to prison for attempting such things.

Russian roulette (Russian: Pyccкaя pyлeткa, romanized: Russkaya ruletka) is a potentially lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against the head or body (of the opponent or themselves), and pulls the trigger. If the loaded chamber aligns with the barrel, the weapon will fire, killing or severely injuring the player.

A game that's played at the expense of one's life, if you are unlucky that very day, will all end in the loser losing his life or being shot in any part of the body that the pistol is placed on, and the winner will walk home with the winning award.

Of course it does,in mafia films or in some remote part of the world where people are still stupid enough to accept such type of game  Grin.In real life this only exist in theory and people know that the Russian roulette is that the gun gets loaded with one bullet and if you happen to hit the trigger in that position you will hit someone hard, sometimes leading to loss of life.I don't know yet of any people who will accept to play such game unless someone is full in debts and was thinking of taking his own life as he does not see any relief or any solution to his problem, that is the only type of the person who can accept such game as the only try to get rid of the debts. This is some game which should in no way be promoted as some people may get intrigued to it leading to huge bad consequences for them.

Our introduction to the game Russian Roulette is through movies and articles, because no casinos online or offline will adopt this game.

It is a suicidal game, and it is illegal. No government will agree to this kind of game; this only happens in war where the prisoners are forced to take this game, based on what I see in movies.

If this game exists, then it exists underground only desperate people on life will play this game, I will not play this game even if the prize is huge since I cannot enjoy the prize.

Of course, no one plays it, it’s more like a movie cliche and it’s like the term for a 1 on 1 duel. Bandits of warring factions played such a game in the mid-90s and that’s where it all fell off.Over all this time, this game has acquired legends and speculation, but in fact it will be very difficult to find real evidence of this game.

The Russian roulette that I have played before was on a gambling site and it is just the normal roulette game which is this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roulette.
I also saw it in that same movie; another old American movie in which such a game was also played is The Knight Club."

That game is very dangerous; in fact, such a game is not even supposed to be made legal in any part of the world, not just some part, because it's completely violent and could be considered one of the most deadly games for someone.

Imagine playing it in an open society, and if such a game is made legal, how many lifeless people will they be taking out of the game hall on a daily basis?
This reminds me of gladiators fighting in old Rome and Spartan where people sit in an open arena to bet and watch how two or more gladiators fight in a duel till death. However, the Russian roulette as it is called is kinda different from that of the gladiators, been that, the gamblers decides to take part in this type of gambling out of their own consent or in dare circumstances.  It is only in the movies I have watched these games but never in real life. And the reason is that no government that value the lives of her citizens will give any form of legality to such insane game.  It is suicidal and should be discouraged even from movies scenes.
