Official statement in response to PCIE power draw:

"As you know, we continuously tune our GPUs in order to maximize their performance within their given power envelopes and the speed of the memory interface, which in this case is an unprecedented 8 Gbps for GDDR5. Recently, we identified select scenarios where the tuning of some RX 480 boards was not optimal. Fortunately, we can adjust the GPU's tuning via software in order to resolve this issue. We are already testing a driver that implements a fix, and we will provide an update to the community on our progress on Tuesday (July 5, 2016)."

Give it a few more weeks for suppliers to catch up. Paying the premium to get it right now is just not worth it in the long run.

If you buy the RX 480 in a month, the difficulty will rise 40%, that mean you will mine 40% fewer Ethereum.

It all depends on the difficulty rise. I reckon the rise will slow a bit now. As the 480 is destroying people's rigs.

In a few days, there will be a driver to tackle this problem. I just hope people will not suffer in between.

Here where I am it is usual that they pump the price of all hardware, so referent RX 480 4GB is $300, so yeah..

I think the price of the cards is not economical to mine to get ROI. But if you wait for 470, by the time you get it, the difficulty will be 50% higher.

That is right. the difficulty is rising 40% of months at the moment. Are they the exisitng miners expanding?
The news might not be good.

This is not so good, prices for Aftermarket Custom Radeon RX 480 Designs :
ASUS (S$409)
Gigabyte (S$409)
HIS (S$389)
MSI (S$399)
PowerColor (S$388)
Sapphire (S$399)

http://techfrag.com/2016/06/30/aftermarket-custom-radeon-rx-480-designs/

At those price and the difficulty of the Ethereum mining doubles every two months, you will not have ROI.

From what I am observing there should be a LOT of supply.  As in hundreds to thousands of cards at the major retailers.

Unfortunately, noone has released stock yet in NA...motherfuckers.

Oh yeah...since the 480 vs 470 specs:

480:   1266 MHZ GPU   vs 470:  1206 MHZ GPU
480:   256-bit bus         vs 470:  256-bit bus
480:   2000MHZ RAM    vs 470:  1750 MHZ RAM
480:   256 GB/s            vs 470:  224 GB/s
480:   TDP:  150W        vs 470:  110W

Release Date is stated as June for both.

I may just go with 470 cards.

I saw somewhere that if the memory frequency of 480 RX is 2000MHz, you can down clock core to 1000 MHz without affecting the the hash. So 470 could be good.

One post in another forum said 950 MHz for the core can mine without affecting the hashing rate for Eth.
