Thanks, guys. Being a noob, didnt know some miners or at least some i had took 20 mins to load up. Plus my buddy saying they were dead and CB dead and should hashup without any "editing" of pool, name, etc..........just set me off on mission, fishing for an answer.

Recently most of the big pools have had DNS issues that could affect the miner from connecting to the affected pool server but your issue is not related to your IP or pool it won't affect anything to your hashboard. If it shows only a few ASIC chips under your kernel logs it means you have an issue in the hashboard it might be a loose heatsink or cold solder joint.

Sometimes let it run for a few minutes or hours can solve this issue but if you still have that kind of issue then reflowing it with BGA hotair or replacing those chips could solve this issue.

The "Socket connect failed: Connection refused" is just a general error and doesn't always tell you what the problem might be, but in most cases and assuming there are no hardware errors -- it means what it says "Connection refused" which is obviously a pool-related problem and some times just a general network issue like "no internet , router is blocking your connection to the pool and what no".

It's always important to fill at least 2 pools in the setting page just in case while you are testing the main pool is down, or something is wrong with your worker details, I personally like to use CKsolo as my backup pool or primary when troubleshooting a miner, it requires no login, accounts or any of that.

And then to be extra sure, go to the diagnostic page of the miner under the network tab and ping one of the known websites to make sure that your miner has access to the internet, once you do that you almost completely eliminate the network/pool issues so you can focus on the actual potential problem.

What happened with your miner is either you left a leading or trailing space in one of the worker/URL fields or your worker wasn't activated on the pool, the second possibility is an actual hardware damage, which is also pretty normal for all the 17 series, the miner can work at times and fail the next second.

No need for tips, you'd have better luck if you posted in the correct forum, this should go in the Support forum. Maybe a mod will move it?

Also, use the "Insert Code" tag when posting logs so they don't take up so much space ( the # button).

Occasionally not getting the full asic count and/or getting temperature sensor errors is normally a sign that there are problems that will tend to just get worse until the board no longer comes up at all. Those are normally caused by poor solder contacts.

Also, the boards that were damaged that lost heat sinks will probably require new asic chips. I have found that most of the time the copper plating comes off with the heat sink, making it impossible to re-attach correctly. People have discussed re-attaching using thermal adhesives, but I'm skeptical if it would work, especially long term.

Well got the t17+ to work. not sure exactly how, but thinking some type of ip error, pool error on my side.

i tried to same thing with s17+ miner. Made an new worker "luxor pool"  obviously im a noob.... It didnt work at 1st, then I also got the s17+ to see hashboard and hash.

Here is the working kernel, from s17+ if anyone could or wants to explain what happen? My btc guy said just hook miners up and they should hash right out box, with out changing any settings at all, and was adamant that CB and or hashboards were damaged..... I said it could be ip problem but i only ever worked on pcs. Maybe i just didnt wait long enough for my new settings to kick in?  

And im willing to "tip" for anyone that wants to waste their time helping me understand.....thanks...

Hello, i had 2 miners hash boards damaged in shipping, i removed those and tried to connect to the miner and I only get socket connection failure on the other hash boards on both machines, just blank...
