I just saw this on a blog. Indian based blog. How possible really is mining bitcoin through your mobile phone(samsung galaxy s5 to be specific).

From what i saw. It seems that the samsung company set the phones like those hardware miners. Theyve also stated that a 7 samsung galaxy s5 can mine faster than the i7 core gpu. If this is really a success it could really be a big help for us. We can easily buy some of this 2ndhand samsung phones and can easily be in the business

They haven't stated what generation was the i7. If it's the first generation then yes, the 7 Samsung Galaxy S5 phones packed with Cortex A15 and Cortex-A7 is quite faster but not that much of a difference. It wouldn't be that much of a help for those wanting to mine with these phones. You will need to completely wipe the OS first on the phones and get their own software specifically for mining before you can even start. Not to mention that you need to spend at least $1050 to get those S5 secondhand without any assurance of it to work all throughout your mining session. An Antminer S9 is around $3000 today, so you just need to find $2000 to get yourself an ample hardware perfect for the job and not waste money on used hardware that doesn't have any guarantee that would last long.
In terms of durability. We know how good samsung phones are in that fields alone specially those old samsung phones(Most of those phone that are created by samsung 2 years 3 years or 4 years ago are still in good condition right now). So i could really say that its durability   equates the durability of your PC. In fact there is no need for you to spend $2000 just to have a 7 galaxy s5.

Galaxy S5 has a 4-core 2,5 GHz processor, i7 is powered by a 4-core 3,4GHz processor, more recent. So a single phone isn't more powerful as the I7. OP was mentioning 7 S5, combined with a good usage of the processors, it may be more powerful. But it's certainly not cheaper in energy.
You can mine with any phone that can be programmed to mine, but it's often not worth the energy spent.

If you are going to think the processor type being used in galaxy s5 a snapdragon is a way more energy efficient than the intel core i7
I agree, much more energy efficient! And why mine btc? the networks too big, mine some KRB sitting .49cents a piece!

Also, as android is linux, theres plenty of mining ports and software available for alot of alt coins, my friend dropped off about 7 ss the other day all with some sort of nuance (dead battery, broken screen etc etc). shouldve kept them hehe

We have to confirm this with Samsung. Why the S5 only? Is there some chip or firmware that made it special? Or did something happened during assembly, a freak accident perhaps? Are all units of the S5 or just few hundred?

I don't understand why S5 , there are many new and better models of Samsung which can be used. But I don't think using any such devices will be much productive. Using those particular softwares and machines probably made for mining is the only good thing to make huge profits.

I downloaded an app yesterday. Now I've got 9,600 satoshi without much efforts, just did 3-4visits since I don't have an internet connection the whole day. It's a 'mining' app that depends on how many cores your phone has (just written on the faqs). I'm still not sure yet if it's paying, the minimum payout is 400,000 satoshis. Gonna try to be more active tomorrow since I don't have any other plans.
I don't really do mining (gpu, cloud or whatsoever), when I was a newbie, they say it's not advisable for me. This will be
the first time, and I don't know if this is already called mining. Grin
Are you sure that it's an actual mining app? Can't imagine you could even mine 9600 satoshi's in one day with your phone.
It's possible that they just pay you from other sources of income, advertising or selling your data to companies perhaps?

I'd be careful with downloading apps like that, before you know it you have malware on your phone.
I'm not sure if this is really a mining app, but its name is 'free bitcoin- btc mining'
Yes, it has a lot of advertisements, and will pay you 400 satoshis for watching a video ad. I watch  3-4 videos every visit and it generates 4 satoshis per minute. Also has free gift of 200 satoshis twice a day.
EDIT: after checking on the faqs, gift is every 60 minutes.

I just read through this in google "In exchange for this, they get to mine bitcoin. But Samsung's mining rig has demonstrated that you don't need a fancy CPU to mine cryptocurrency. Instead, 40 units of Samsung's Galaxy S5 can do the trick in fact, they could even mine at a greater efficiency than a desktop computer" If the Samsung's Galaxy S5 can be able to mine bitcoin then I will be an advantage to us in the bitcoin world.

I dont' think a smart phone can mine Bitcoin better than computer Cheesy. Have you ever calculate the amount of money you get by mining with your phone? I think it's not enough for you to buy a new smart phone Smiley). If mining Bitcoin with smart phone really work I think nobody will spend a lot of money to buy miner anymore. Don't waste your time with mining Bitcoin through smart phone if you don't want to buy a new one Cheesy

in my opinion this does not make sense, it is not possible s5 do mining faster, maybe you are joking now.

you know whats really funny about your post? You are talking about sense in which you dont have. You may read it but the thing here is that you didnt even understand a single thoughts about it.
Now if you want to continue  spamming do it in the other place.

S5 uses a high end processor for mobile if your pc can mine then it can also do the same thing at a different level. Understand first how to mine before giving an opinion(of course its your opinion but make sure deliver it properly)

I don't think that mining on mobile is easy task..
You can't make a decent money by mining with mobile.
So just don't waste your time while searching mobile mining applications.

I cant believe this.
It seems the android makers are now miner enthusiast thay are into earning now. But I want to know too if this is real or just something to promote the samsung here    Grin  Grin  Grin, but I am interested with this if this is possible.
but i guess it is electrict consumable, and may cost phone overheat.

I have read the article just today. They used 5 galaxy s5s as a mining rig for bitcoins, and it was actually more efficient than a computer. They say that since the phone is programmed only for it, it actually worked faster than a PC, plus the power consumption of a phone is way lower than that of a computer. It's a good idea because it cures some of the downsides of having a computer as a mining rig.

If you had a botnet full of factory or seconded phones, with available power supply, they would do well. The samsung S4 19505, 2nd gen not the snapdragon octa, pulls 23-35h/s. if mining cryptonite..the phone uses about 2amps at 5v. nothing a battery and solar panel wouldn't fill....all for less than a monero cloud contract.....You think, if you were an e-recycle company, 50 bricked phones is nothing...
