Its not a question of price. With friends we want to see the first months profits, and then invest BIG. So in 1 month i'm pretty sure it will not be late to get Nvidia's card for Zcash or Zpool.
The opportunity to get 20x RX570 is not offered to everyone so I think it would be a mistake to not take them.

It is not an insane purchase, you just need to make sure that you get everything that you can out of it before you hit the wall.  There will be a point in time when this is not going to cut it anymore.  When the ROI starts to drop, you can try switching down the line to a few coins that are not being nailed to the wall and that should buy you a few months and after that, it is simply time to upgrade.

keep your options open, a lot are getting into mining and difficulty is rising, you might be better off investing it in btc not mining.

i prefer gtx cards better options on coins, less profit but better chance of resale.
Do gtx cards benefit a lot what happens with BTC? Perhaps investors are turning to gtx cards whose marketing is more efficient

not noticed there are so many coins offering good daily returns i can choose everyday.

with european power costs u should have went with 1070s
I got my 570 @ 224€, 1070 are about 340€, I don't see how I can achieve ROI faster with that price difference...

I just had my reseller, at the end he received "only" 10 cards, and he will maybe get 10 others next week.
Honestly it was PURE luck to get them... I tried many reseller and it's the smallest one who gave a **** about me and sourced the cards. Bigger haven't yet sent me invoices, they did not car at all !

Now I know where all MSI RX 570 went...to France!  Grin
There are none around here (south US) and none in US at all (newegg is empty).
Anyway, good mining!

I think Phil's suggestion to build a 3-card rig makes a lot of sense, but I would swap out his mobo suggestion with one that can eventually accomodate  6 or 7 gpus, like the Asus Z270 Prime A board.  It might cost you $20 more, but this is a drop in the ocean with the going profitability, right?

Just keep in mind that there are 10,000 or 100,000 other people doing the same thing and that the profitability isn't going to hold.

Bitcoin FTW!
SSD isn't needed, you can get a 50-80 gig HDD for less than 10 where I live or boot off of a USB. Even more money shaved off the build. You can get by with 4GB of DDR but it may cause some compability issues with some software.

Why the i5 7400t vs a G4400 for about 70 less?
What 128gb SSD are you using for 40?

I think you are wrong to go this way.

do ½ your way do ½ this way if you can get prices

wait for quote take a minute.  build two of mine and two of yours

@ op how much did you spend for the six card setup?

sorry that I missed this.

This is an easy 3 card monster rig.

two 1080 ti's -------------------------1300 on sale
one 1070------------------------------  369
one 128 gb ssd -----------------------   40
one 8gb stick of ram -----------------   50
one i5 7400t cpu----------------------  130 eBay sale
one gigabyte z270 mobo ------------   108
one 850 watt  pat psu  --------------   112

total ---------------------------------- 2109

does 2300 for skein
does  1750 for zcash   at 550 watts.

riser free   and you can add 1 more card with a riser if you want to expand  to me no one should build a six card rig as the first rig.

I would even say, why not a G3900 ? Cost even less

So to reply to the main question, the reseller is a small shop in a small city in France. I contacter many big resellers who wasn't able to snatch any, and this guys told me that he could get for monday 20 RX 570, and I would catch the 4 other on backorder. --> I get all hardware from him, so he only gets the money if he delivers everything.

The idea behind this is to build a small business: with my friends we are looking into in some investment and that 8K would not be the whole of it. It's just a starting point to see how it goes. I know the difficulty is raising but the exchange rate is also crazy high...

Correct me if i'm wrong: let's say I have those 24 card running, but we have more ready to be invested, I could invest into new hardware (Vega? Volta?) or "simply" change currency?

I know it is extremely risky but we are not looking to do it as a hobby but as a business, and as with all business opportunities, if you do go big at the beginning (and I know we are catching the wagon late)  you are ******.

If i'm dead wrong correct me!

At the moment here is what we have/expect:
50M2 cooled place
0,14€/KW Electricity
Run a month with the 24 card and see what would happen
After this period decide if we invest more, decide a strategy etc.

I'm completely open to you advices/observations.

difficulty on its own is not a good barometer, the price of ethereum has increased.

Don't forget electricity, space, a lot of generated heat, and possible replacements.

I think it's a good choice to start mining, but do so with eyes open

I'm mining with 7 GPUs on that board, have yet to try 8.

Might take a while for your products to actually arrive.
Don't expect the market to remain as it is, or grow, I mean it can, it can also become 2013 all over again. Beware

"Breakeven expected in 4-5 months?"

The way the difficulty is going, your 4, 5 months will become 4, 5 years and that if eth does not crash hehe.
