I am amazed by the disregard of the usage of plural in the bitcoin whitepaper. Satoshi Nakamoto is most certainly a group of people, with various expertise in economics as well as mathematics and programming.
It is standard to use plural in scientific papers even when there's a single author. The use of plural in the Bitcoin whitepaper says very little about its author other than that he/she/they may have some background in academia.
