I was already called a naysayer several times for trying to raise that same awareness you say it's needed to people who are distributing Bitcoins freely without doing proper research or risk assessment.

And this is one reason why the exchanges are taking a risk if they accept scanned documents to verify identities. It's not hard to create far more authentic-looking documents than that one and there's every reason to believe that plenty of people are trying to operate non-conventional financial service accounts using fake identities.

This is the message I received, it just kind of had scam written all over it (paypal, girl, new member, I wasn't selling btc, "precautions"). At the time it was clear to those who read my posts that I had no bitcoins to speak of. Social engineering really pisses me off.
