Please also open a complaint at the link in my post above.

Unless multiple folks are complaining he is such low priority that I doubt they will ever get around to doing anything.

I have yet to get a satisfactory response, but they claim that the investigation is "open"

I can't add this latest information to my case except as hearsay, it means nothing in that context. If you report it yourself it can be taken as evidence and used against him, so please take action to defend yourself and others!

This guy has been scamming a lot of user for a long time.  I really don't think he has any intention of paying back and will probably, unfortunately,  continue his obviously successful scamming.

So let's stop it...

Everyone else who got hit please file a report here: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Mine is in, and I'll be following up with the Durham Police later this week. If you have or find any additional information be sure to add it to the thread.

For those of you that missed it, I have filed a report:

@ BCB I really hate this guy we have sent countless messages all over durham about this guy being a scammer. This guy is a real piece of shit. Me and my wife decided this morning that we would like to do something about him. What we where thinking is taking out a full page ad in his local paper we are willing to throw some money into making that happen would you be interested in contributing to the cost of posting the ad?

Problem is, Being in the U.K. Farting in someones direction is an arrestable offense, Posting a full page add warning about someones scamming attempts/succeeds Will (IMO) not be allowed, There are two ways to deal with people like this, Either send the heavy's round or take him to court,  First one will get you nothing but satisfaction, Second will cost you alot and he will be avoided but not cost him anything.

do yourself a favor, check the scammer db before trading with anyone
don't trade with anyone not authenticated, and who doesn't have a long, positive history

Thanks for posting this. If enough people take this serious, it could prevent future scams. As someone said in the united kingdom cyber laws are very strict. So hopefully people who are going to scam will think twice.

I'm assuming international laws are also strict, However I would not know because I'm based in the united kingdom.

People need to report Scott Harding to http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
Its an official police website for handling cyber crime (including fraud) in the UK.

As he's based in the UK, they would deal with it. Cybercrime laws in the UK are pretty strict and intentional fraud via the internet will land you some pretty hefty jail time (at least).

I can add additional information to an existing CRN (Crime Reference Number), but I can't instigate one as I've never actually fallen for a BitScotty scam (been close though!).
Each person who's been scammed should open a police report and post the numbers here so others can add their experience to it.

That will get him off the circuit...

Might be born the same year, but he does not look like the passport photo... I'd lean towards no.

He hit me too, I'm still not sure why I strung together quite so many stupid mistakes, but if you have not heard it before gift-mode paypal is risky and should not be used, here is some additional info that I may be following up on:

He (or someone close to him) are currently operating under the name "Bitcoin Sales" on facebook and he is claiming he never received my money.

Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/roomywebs.hosting
Paypal Alias 1 - Darren Burns (locked account, reversed the charges): [email protected]
Paypal Alias 2 - Daniel Allan (claims it's locked and he reversed it, I suspect he has withdrawn it, or is just incompetent): [email protected]

I'm considering next steps, although if he is willing to split the damage or make it up in volume he can still make it right, but at this point I really doubt he is interested.

Where is this guy located?

Be careful implicating innocent people with similar names.
