You're forgetting the main difference between Labcoin & Active Mining:  Labcoin never stopped his suckers from trading, Ken did.
So no chance of anyone but Ken unloading anything at any price.

ActM was my first forray into the "Bitcoin Securities" world. I didn't pay attention to the red flags, and let my greed get the better of me. Luckly I didn't invest anything I couldn't afford to lose, which is good because I truly consider it a lost investment.

The best thing I can do is learn from this, and try to help any other hapless investors thinking of jumping into something like this.

If you are thinking of investing, do your due diligence. Verify everthing before handing over your precious BTC. Anything else is a total gamble. Bitcoin has historically gone up in value, whereas I can't think of many securites besides AsicMiner that have kept up with this appreciation (and even AM couldn't sustain this). Your best bet is to HODL, IMO.

No, JimmyJazz.  I'd like to salvage whatever value this situation has to offer.  Your plight, for instance, makes an excellent cautionary tale for the would-be backyard investors.
And I'd be lying if i didn't admit to enjoying teh lulz.
Keep'em coming.

He's still trying to take money for undeliverable pre-orders.  The same product lineup that was "available" before is still "available" on his website.

Here's a difference.  Labcoin investors never created a thread where only positive messages could be posted.
Indeed, we are past a point where there is a huge pile of documented lies by kslaugther and they still support him; even create private rooms to organize themselves; as such, they are now full-on scammers themselves, hoping to save the appearances before unloading their shares to even more gullible fools.

It's not a scam, it's just how the free market works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_fool_theory

Selling stock to form a company to do something you are completely unqualified to achieve:  Free market
Hiring your unqualified relatives to operate this company: Scam
Pretending to ship "product" that is really empty computer cases: Scam
Buying cloudhashing contracts to make it appear you have prototype mining hardware: Scam
Completely changing the development plans for the company after you botch the first attempt: Scam
Withholding dividend payments: Scam
Preventing stockholders from selling while you raise more funds: Scam

From the 'If I close my eyes and shove my head up my ass ActiveMining will make money (self-moderated)' thread.

A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by the starter of a self-moderated topic. There are no rules of self-moderation, so this deletion cannot be appealed. Do not continue posting in this topic if the topic-starter has requested that you leave.

You can create a new topic if you are unsatisfied with this one. If the topic-starter is scamming, post about it in Scam Accusations.

I don't see how we can have a legitimate discussion regarding the two chips.  Both chips are nothing but specifications at this point, but one set of specs is coming from an established company with a proven track record of delivering actual products, while the other is simply specs.  I hope we end up shipping product on the date that has been announced, but history is not on our side.

You can't assess your position in a race if you're not even running yet.  I am more interested in acquiring some concrete evidence of anything Ken has announced to us before I worry about our position in the field.

If you are still unsure of the 55nm tape out then you aren't in the position to discuss this.

For those of us that know that the UMC 55nm chip has achieved tape-out, what do you think about the chips? I've heard some EEs sincerely doubting the AM offering's power draw, but I don't know enough to weigh in. Is what FC claims possible?

Also, word on the street is that the UMC 55nm is being produced at sub $1/GH. What is a reasonable profit margin for these chips?

I thought this thread was troll free.

There is no proof of a 55 nm tapeout.  In fact the last statement from Ken was that he is in the process of getting an account established at UMC.  You need an account to get taped out.

As for your $ / Gh/s estimate, why don't you back that up with some data?  It should look like this

Item                                                Cost                 Gh/s / unit           $ / Gh/s
Wafer start
Back end processing
Package materials
Dicing and Package assembly
Package level test
Hashing Boards
Board components
Board assembly
Heat sinks, power supplies and Cases
System assembly
Test
Shipping

Is there any legit mining company or what ?

I keep hoping one will appear.  There are a few candidates, but it still remains to be seen if any of them act completely legit.

Eventually the gold rush will end, and greed will not be a dominant factor in people's actions.  At that stage most ASIC companies will go bankrupt.  The survivors will be the ones who acted the most ethically.  The bar is pretty low at this point though.
