At one point I was the sixth largest account holder at Scrypt.cc (you can look at the Scrypt.cc leaderboard to get an idea of just how much of an investment that was).  Recently I've sold most of my KHS and moved the BTC to secure accounts.  I still have an investment in Scrypt.cc but it's some of the BTC that I've made as profit over the last few months.  There has been a lot of conjecture on this forum about whether Scrypt.cc is legitimate or not.  The bottom line is that if you're trying to get that question answered by reading what other's have posted in a forum, you'll never find it.  Only a handful of people, probably less than 10, actually know if Scrypt.cc is a legitimate enterprise.  There are some very positive signs from Scrypt.cc--the admins are responsive, the site runs well, withdrawals occur without issue, and most of the people that say they got "scammed" out of BTC either don't know what they're doing, have made some mistake, or are trying to pull one over on Scrypt.cc (and us).  But at the end of the day, Scrypt.cc has not done enough to assuage investors' fears about the site.  They must do more to convince us ultra-conservative investors who have been scammed before that they're not a Ponzi scheme.  The cryptocurrency mining industry is plagued by a lack of transparency.  It is very difficult to assess a cloud mining provider and know if they are legitimate or not.  And most of those outfits that are not scams offer very poor returns.  What this means is that if cloud mining provider can offer a good profit and a fast ROI, they will stand out and attract investment.  What's more, they would also know that more transparency would give them a competitive advantage since it is so lacking in the industry.  Scrypt.cc has the first attribute--good profit and fast ROI--but they lack the second--transparency.  This unwillingness to give more details about how they are able to offer such great returns is enough to seriously question investing any substantial amount of money.  I haven't lost total faith in Scrypt.cc but they must become more transparent.  If they don't, it's likely that they've got something to hide, namely, the fact that they're a Ponzi scheme.

In response I recommend taking a look at hashnest, they provide all the transparency one could ask for in cloud mining. They tell you what currencies are being mined as well as providing charts and graphs. That is how a cloud mining operation should be done. SCC is pathetic compared to hashnest.

Hashnest's ROI is also pathetic.

Depends on the miners you're investing in. The S5 is not far behind SCC in respect to ROI. That's not the point. ROI doesn't mean shit if you're spending your btc at a site that doesn't protect it for you.

There does seem to be a number of accounts being hacked lately. In saying that, it seems that the vast majority of accounts are all ok.

Most people who have no issue with the site would not post here. You look at the top 20 ranking chart, these people have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of BTC invested. As Dyaks says, would these accounts not be the target? Who's wants to scam 0.1BTC when you can get 5BTC?

So, as Dyaks also says, are people using secure passwords, are you locking emails, are you not signing in on public PCs etc etc?

I've been with scrypt for well over a year now and have no complaints. The admin/site owner underwent major surgery and was in hospital for 6 months which is why the lack of posting.

I agree though that now he should address some of these issues.

I urge anyone using this site to check their settings, change passwords etc. it is a very profitable business for anyone involved and it would be good to keep it that way.

In saying that, how do the scrypt cc admins make their money while paying out to all the investors? I thought the days of profitable mining were pretty much over without free electricity? I haven't switched on my mining PC for about a year now?

Ok, here's what I don't get: Half the posters in here are claiming to get ripped off by SCC and that it's a scam. The other half are claiming it's legit and even posting evidence to back this up. So where the fuck is the owner of SCC? and why is he not posting on here reassuring potential investors? Does this dude not see all the potential investment just waiting for some positive reinforcement here? I myself am holding back on investing $500+ because of all the drama I see in here.

Sounds quite a lot like an inside job at Scrypt.cc , i used to believe in them, but now i dont. How come so many people getting hacked lately, and many of them haven't clicked the phishing link ? . Very suspicious.

Not as suspicious as someone labelled as a scammer by Tomotocage posting FUD.

Yeah ,and where is the evidence for what he accusing me, it doesn't exist. Thats the point, just because he is hero member doesn't mean he have the right to bash people who are trying to make a name for themself in here???

If you lock the e-mail in the settings of scrypt.cc, a scammer/hacker/phisher/whatever would need to have access to both your account AND your e-mail, and know or bruteforce your PIN, before they could withdraw your money. Did all people that got their money stolen have their e-mail locked in the settings?

Yes mine was locked.

Not as suspicious as someone labelled as a scammer by Tomotocage posting FUD.    There have been a few people claiming hacks, but most don't seem to want to provide details.

This is the type of details I mean:
* Did they use a PIN?
* Did they use two different email addresses?
* Did they lock the email addresses?   (Not 100% that option is still provided)
* Did they have a secure password not used anywhere else?
* Did they not have the browser remember their password?
* Did they scan their computers regularly for malware?
* Did they only use https: ?
* Did they avoid linking on any links to go to scrypt.cc?
* Did they use only a computer they have access too?

One guy in chat today said he only gave his account ID and password to his cousin!  That is really asking for trouble.

I don't know the details and each case so I can't say there wasn't someone that was very careful that didn't get hacked.  It just isn't likely.    That being said it is horrible to be hacked and have your account stole from you.   I completely understand why people would be upset.

I know this as there were many this morning that also got hacked,  we were all trying to get hold of someone in admin,   there was a person that also had been hacked and was working on how.   He came across the site as above.   then started to trace for us...

End of it all the hackers seem to be running a program I guess ongoing picking peoples accounts off..   So Be careful...   Or its an internal job?  this may be how they keep making money?

I find it strange how my account was hacked and passwords were breached so quickly.

This if FUD.  There are accounts worth hundreds of BTC, why would someone focus on hacking small accounts?

Good point, I have the email lock option enabled.  You can only change this with a support ticket once enabled.

I can't understand how accounts are getting hacked so easily, what sort of passwords are you using?

Have you done scans on your PC for malware/Trojans etc?

Are you using the same password for a whole host of other sites?
