What security precautions do SWC take against hackers?

For example, if some hackers did manage to break into your server and steal every bitcoin in unencrypted wallets on that server, would the users take the loss or are you enough protected to still be able to continue the site and/or pay out users that requests it? How many, percentage wise, of the coins in your system are stored in a) offline storage and/or b) properly encrypted wallets?

After all the hacking recently, I don't know if I would trust any service that does not store enough coins on offline servers to still function should a hacking take place.

Freemoney answered this very important questions about hot wallets and hackings, but I am more concerned with social scammers on this young poker site.  There is a close culture on Seals, there is always trash talking during the games, some fun spirited, some not, but either way most of the regular players communicate constantly with each other.  I want to take this time and out a scammer who has been working the chat hard under many different usernames:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:FofoV2QH_XQJ:www.facebook.com/tabitha.gould.9+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

As "IronKing" on Seals and "IronKing27" on skype he tried to scam a handful of Seals Users, myself included.  It turns out he seems to be very stupid and left clumsy clues everywhere.  Without getting into details some members of the community and I have been privately putting together pieces.  I believe there isn't much loss here, and this has been said long before I even found bitcoin, but it is worth repeating:

PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT "CLEAR PAYPAL" FOR BITCOIN UNLESS YOU ACCEPT THE RISK THAT THE OTHER GUY CAN JUST CLICK "DISPUTE" AND THE XFER WILL REVERSE.

Of course paypal / eBay is an evil organization charging extremely high fees.  Of course Bitcoin will kill Paypal or at least compete with it in a few years.  Hopefully kill.  But for now, it is a needed evil.  100M+ Paypal accounts and an easy way to Americans to pay each other.  Just have to be so extremely careful these days.  Also I would advise all Seals players or anyone that needs to buy bitcoin living in the USA to use BitInstant if they do not have a trusted source to buy from.  Would love to have a trusted mining pool that wants paypal for coins...

The Drifter is over.

There is now a daily morning guarantee. 2BTC guaranteed, 0.2BTC entry, 10am ET.

Aww !  I tell ya, it was a good night doubletabling The Drifter along with the 3am 3000 chip guarantee. and I was sooo tired
Would actually like to see The Drifter remain. I like the idea of having a tournament that rotates around instead of at a fixed schedule.

Maybe it doesn't have to be the same buy-in or guarantee, but it is a good name for a tournament, and a good concept. Would be a shame to end it.

I can and would take the loss. The large majority of deposits are in two encrypted off-server wallets, the exact percentage fluctuates.

do you block people from the same IP address from playing on the same table?  i think most other poker sites do.

Yes, but only as of about a month ago. It applies to all ring games.

Any way we coud get a nightly "SUPER" NL and/or PLO MTT at 6PM-10PM Pacific for 475+25-950+50 BI

The medium-high ring games ususally get crazy (big pots) during/after "big" MTTs.  Thanks for any consideration and great job on the site!

speaking of big MTTs...

the biggest bitcoin tourney each week goes down at 6pm every single Sunday only at SealsWithClubs - in about 13 hours.

2btc buy in, 60 bitcoin guarantee that Freemoney faithfully pays if there is an overlay.  I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a big one, as the word about Seals does continue to spread throughout the poker world.  Still whispers at this point, but the affiliate program is going to help a bunch.  Get at [email protected] and start earning that 20%

There is WAY too much time given at 50/100+ until the countdown starts.

I'm happy to give people ample timebank, but there is SO much time to wait BEFORE the timebank kicks in.  a number of players complain every day about some asshole playing too slow and it would be in the interest of Seals to have people playing faster.

even if you guys just implement a change preflop, that would mostly fix the problem.

I'll switch 50/100 to the faster time soon. Can't make it just preflop though.

The reason it is so slow is that there is no d/c timebank. When we get that ever game will have faster normal time.

Historically tournaments without guarantees have flopped. We had a nightly 500+25 at 9pm for a long time and it rarely got a full table. We are expanding the guarantee schedule, but they are risky and I don't want to overextend and have to pull back since a steady schedule makes it easier for players to plan. So.. more coming, but slowly.

Currently:

Mon 10BTC guar PLO
Wed 5BTC donkdown freeroll
Sat 5BTC guar w/ 0.1BTC entry
Sun 60BTC guar 2BTC entry
3am 3BTC guar
The Drifter 4BTC guar runs every 25 hours
The Half Hour 0.4BTC guar
The Hourly Freeroll for .05BTC

You can send complaints (or any other feedback) to [email protected].

Talking in a foreign language is not suspicious. It is fairly easy to get the jist of what they are saying with google translate.

There are lots of innocent reasons for not betting both weak and strong hands. That doesn't make for very good evidence.

We really don't want to censor chat outside of flooding, but we are aware that the block chat function is not very good now. Hopefully it will be improved before long. The main downsides are that you still see **** in place of the blocked chat and that there is no permanent block, you have to redo it every time you log in.

Why is it so damn hot in here?
Okay FreeMoney, you have a problem on your hands.  It's called collusion.  I played for about an hour last night and the whole time there were several players speaking Vietnamese to each other.  It was quite obvious that they were not betting against each other except to prime the pot, that's when I got a bit suspicious.  So I started running their comments through a translator and they were clearly telling each other about their hands.

The next time I see it, I will copy the chat log and send it in an email so those players can be removed.

Now we all know that there is no way to stop collusion at an online site, if they aren't doing it in the chat, it's just as easy to do it on skype, IRC, IMs, or a ton of other ways.  But you need to move to minimize it at much as possible.

There also needs to be a complaint system, to log players for abusive language, suspected collusion, excessive afk, etc.

I know that Seals With Clubs in an international site, and making the chats English only is not something you want to do, unfortunately the only other alternative to that is to disable the chat while a hand is in progress.

Any thoughts to a bad beat jackpot?  That would help draw increased traffic to ring games.

Secondly, will there be consideration for deposit bonuses that required x number hands to clear?  I know if I had put in a bunch of BTC for the bonus, I would be playing a lot more plus it would give me something to work towards clearing.

Finally, is there anyway to connect to the server via port 80?  I can't connect from behind my work's firewall  Embarrassed

We've just set up high hand prizes so if we do a BBJ it won't be for a while. The prize for a royal might go progressive, that might make it more exciting.

I don't like deposit bonuses because I don't care if you deposit, get chips from a friend, or win them in a freeroll. I also don't want to discourage withdrawing like most bonus setups do.

We do have the krill system (and right now a krill race) which lets you earn rakeback eventually. And once you earn it you don't lose it, so it is like building value in your account.

You can't access the software via port 80 unfortunately. Bribe an IT guy with coins? :-)
