Who even cares if someone doesn't pay taxes on their bitcoin? The government doesn't care when apple or GE doesn't pay their taxes so why should I have to. The government rarely does anything about rich people having overseas bank account and avoiding taxes. Not only that they give the rich cheaper taxes via capital gains. Our government could get rid of the income tax if it really wanted to. Just stop trillions of war spending. So no I will not pay my taxes. This country was founded on people just like me not on people like you who happily bend over for their government

Because you are one of the little people.

Good, if you don't try to circumvent the law, and pay all due taxes on profits made through bitcoin, then I have no issue with you personally. However, understand that you are in the minority in this community.

How many of them ever did? I don't recall there ever being that many.

Then you don't actually read this or any other major bitcoin forum (ie: r/bitcoin) because they are absolutely full of people who blatantly discuss circumventing the law through bitcoins.

I don't. I use have my time and money invested in bitcoin legally. Some parts of reddit are as bad as 4chan in terms of content quality.  There are plenty of people out there who have embraced an idea and made money without doing anything illegal.

I'm smart enough

No, you really aren't. Judging from your posting, I'd actually be surprised if you could remember to breath without someone reminding you.

Yes, really. You've actually been making fun of a straw man this whole time. We're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you. I'm sorry if it took you so long to figure that out.

No, I am definitely making fun of bitcoiners.

Between the conspiracy theorists (which this forum is rife with), the drug and child pornography peddling bitcoin enthusiasts all over the darknet, the delusional true believers who think bitcoin is going to take over the world, the doomsday peppers that believe the world is on the verge of financial/political/social collapse (but believe bitcoin will somehow save them), and the wannabe Gordan Gekkos that think they are "the new wealthy elite",  there is plenty to make fun of.

You can pretend that none of these groups exist, or that they don't make up a large segment of the bitcoin user population, but you are only fooling yourself.  Your community is poisonous, and that is one reason of many that no one takes you people seriously.

I'm sorry if you aren't smart enough to pick up on that, but that is exactly the type of ignorance I am here to point out.  So go ahead and laugh, the rest of the world is laughing at you.

And my question still hasn't been answered; how many of you bitcoiners still think you are above the law? Do you still think you can circumvent authority with your Internet Monopoly money?
How many of them ever did? I don't recall there ever being that many.

I haven't been making fun of bitcoiners? Really?

You aren't very bright, are you?
I'm smart enough to know that all that is necessary for me to see people who think they are above the law (excluding those in the current administration) is go outside and walk down the street; therefore I would not find any particular pleasure in taking a diverse group on the Internet, attributing such attitude to them, and writing posts to that effect.  And I'd wonder about the motives of anyone who would "take pleasure" in such things.

Numerous historical antecedents, when one currency started to fail, substitute currencies naturally arose.  Black markets, which no society has been without, vary as a percent of total market based on factors which are totally understandable.  Currently, bitcoin is something of the former, and depending largely on how harsh and repressive this society becomes, it, along with other substitutes, may become something of the latter.

You'll have no impact on those events, and neither will I, of course.

No the government takes criminals who run ponzis seriously, not bitcoiners.
This action by the SEC has legitimised bitcoin - it's clear now that the law regards BTC in a similar way to fiat.

This is a big milestone.

So you are happy about government regulation of bitcoin then? Excellent, so am I.  I doubt that most of your peers on this forum feel the same way, though.
Maybe they won't be.

Personally, the perfect scenario is to have regulated Bitcoin companies. When it is perfectly legal, fiat will flow in.

The underlying network will remain the same - what regulations can stop you sending an amount of BTC from A to B?

BTC will be like cash is now - there are things you aren't supposed to do with it, but there will be no way of preventing it.

Who's bitter? I'm actually an extremely happy guy.  Making fun of delusional bitcoiners who think they are above the law makes me smile even more.
Except you have not done that...you've posted anonymously to an Internet forum in flame baiting mode.

I have news for you, no one takes bitcoiners seriously either.
Oh dear.

Look at the title of this thread to see how serious the US government takes 'bitcoiners'.
