I voted for 1 million bitcointalk users, because in my mind a more widespread adoption is going to come first and bitcointalk (imo) could play a part in that.

Wow... That is the most thought about answer in this thread. *clap* *clap*

The answer to this question is very difficult to estimate for a number of reasons:

1. we don't know if the forum exists long enough to reach 1 million users
2. we don't know if other Bitcoin forums might become more popular and draw users away from bitcointalk
3. we don't know if a proposed rise to $ 10,000 is fueled by many or just a few wealthy investors
4. we don't know the size of the pool of people interested in Bitcoin technology that is likely to join a forum to discuss the topic

These reasons speak mostly against the forum reaching 1 million users before the price hits $ 10k.

But I still think the forum will see 1 million users first, because I'm quite sure that after surpassing the previous ATH and after the Winklevoss ETF getting permission, media reporting will skyrocket and the growth number of new users will increase exponentially. Most of these users will be seeking information before making an investment decision. So first serious interest and actual investment will have a time lag that leads in my view to a higher probability for the "1 million users first" outcome.

ya.ya.yo!

1. I doubt it will get changed. Is here for some time already.

2. It will not.

3. Next ATH will be fueled by existing users. But that ATH will drive more people on this forum.

4. It is way over 1 million.

$10.000 is very unlikely, while BTCtalk community is growing each day for sure.
So i think 1 Million users will come first Cheesy

I believe Bitcointalk will reach 1 Million users first. As soon as someone learns of bitcoin, this is the first place they come to get there all questions answered. Also, this is the place where almost every service which deals in bitcoin come to get more attention and traffic.

There are 372,524 PROFILES-  not users.
I doubt if there are even 50,000 users.

Edit:  just some facts :  over 200,000 "users" have ZERO posts   , another 100,000 have between 1 and 9

I would say there are much less then 50K real users and much less active users.

Well some users like to read more than post, actually that is my case.

Obviously 1 million users!

The growth of the user base should be exponential (especially because of so many altcoins).
The growth of bitcoin is... um... yeah, let's say "slower" Smiley

We will see $10k first! There will be another bubble, and even the needed media attention won't push us to 1 million user accounts before that! I guess 2015/2016 will be the time and place for $10k!

When we break the old ATH new users will be flooding in.

I think we will see 10K first only because it doesn't take much to get there. To triple the amount of users isn't as easy

i agree. But i also think there will be 1 million users registered here short after price of Bitcoin will get to $10k

1M subs would be first.

One drives the other.

2014 has seen an uptick in subs, but a sharp decline in btc price

what type of driving were you talking about, away?

Many new subscribers go straight to the alt-coin section, and there's certainly been no shortage of alts in 2014.

Everybody missed the BTC boat so alt-coin is a good bet.

By the time Bitcointalk will reach its 1 Millionth user, bitcoin is worth around $500.

I see your point.

For me, it was a meager attempt to make some kind of - supply/demand - correlation.

Frankly, I dont care either way.

1M subs here -- would increase the information supply -- but also the regurgitation 10 fold.
