The situation with anticipating of Segwit2X was too hot. Everything that is done is done for the best.
The parity issue will be handled in few weeks I believe.

It's good for BTC that Segwit2 was canceled, even though it didn't stand a chance at the first place. But unfortunately I think we'll be seeing this kind of attempts (to fork) very often in the future, there are just people who are looking for profit and that has proven to be the case (make forks profitable) with BTCash. Parity from the other hand is something completely different, a guy exploited the code and manage to freeze all these amounts in the apparently "safe" multi-sig accounts. What a joke, really. Anyone who is still using Parity deserves to lose all of their coins, because the project simply can't get their stuff together. Everyone should migrate to something better than simply using Parity. They lost million a few months ago due to the hack, the delayed and almost ruined the Ethereum upgrade, and now they are freezing funds because they have no idea how to read a code - what the heck.

let's see what happens today/this weekend. I'm expecting a big shift of funds into the alts, just like anyone else but the question is, will BTC go down significantly? There could be a lot of people waiting to get in now that they have seen BTC's power of growth and they're just waiting it goes a little lower before jumping in.

SegWit2x backers have decided to call off the fork. The announcement has been signed by BitGo’s Mike Belshe, Xapo’s Wences Casares, Bitmain’s Jihan Wu, Bloq’s Jeff Garzik, Blockchain’s Peter Smith and Shapeshift’s Erik Voorhees. They couldn’t convince enough people in the bitcoin community to make the SegWit2x blockchain the new mainstream bitcoin blockchain.

next week segwit2x will be processed. In my opinion. with this process. many people continue to buy altcoin and provide price increases. even I got a notification from one of the exchange sites that in the next week there will be a day of freezing the transaction in response to this segwit2x.

Really, is this true?
So there will be no more segwit2x hardfork forever? or was it just moved to a later date?

There will not be free money Tongue But it's not big deal for me because I've invested all my BTC into alts as soon as I've seen this news.

Exciting couple of days, Sewgit2x cancelled, Bitcoin dropped to $6900 in less than 2mins and shot back up again to $7500...  what is happening!!! That means no more hard fork and people can relax again right?!
Can someone explain what the Parity part is though? Thanks!
A parity error is an error that results from irregular changes to data, as it is recorded when it is entered in memory. Different types of parity errors can require the retransmission of data or cause serious system errors, such as system crashes.
That's pretty much what happened with Sewgit2x

Coming weeks are going to be really really interesting.

Segwit2x may affect bitcoin price both ways, still not which way. But the only thing certain is that now the focus will be on the Altcoins at last!

In regards to the Parity loosing 150-300 million worth of ETH, let's see how the ETH community will handle this. Will they do another Fork? Personally its really sad with what has happened and indeed it not fair especially for that poor guy!  Undecided

everything is getting interesting again.

regarding SegWit2x:
we no longer have the risk of a community split and a new coin and that means investors can now come in and invest their money with their minds at ease. and also nobody can say the rise is because people want free coins anymore. and with the fights being nearly over we can focus on more important stuff such as more adoption.
there is also bitcoin cash which will be affected by this, and there will probably be a huge pump in it as promised before. and that is one thing that i will be watching.

regarding Ethereum:
another hack and it seems like people do not care about all these bugs since they are not holding any ETH in any wallet except their exchange accounts. at least majority are doing it. and it is interesting to see all the whale fake-walls that are being placed to prevent the crash Cheesy

I think Segwit2x cancellation is a great news and just in time for a holiday party
rally in all cryptos. Parity bug find is just another one in a series and we just have to
fix and move on. There is no such thing as  bug-free Software.

I agree with you. There should be alts rally next few days imo.

I guess ETH could easily rise due to locking of huge amount because of parity bug Wink

The decision taken by the SegWit2x team to cancel hardfork was taken in the interest of bitcoin community not for personal gain, they team felt that it is necessary to increase or upgrade the 2MB block to enable miners to charge lesser transaction fees having successfully done BCC  and BTG hardfork.
I hope this decision taken will have less impact on the price of bitcoin else pullback will be triggered.

Bitcoin pullback is badly needed for long term health. I think btc will go back to $5000 before institutional money coming in. Crypto as a whole will flourish.

I think not for a long time. Segwit2x is not cancelled - it just moved for some time. And who knows, when they announce a new date.
