Anything announced by Nithyananda shouldn't be believed at all. News like this are just for a good laugh. He is a wanted criminal and is on the run. He had claimed he purchased an island from Ecuador and formed his own country but Ecuador has denied it announcing, "Nithyananda has not been given asylum by Ecuador or has been helped by the government of Ecuador in purchasing any land or island in South America near or far from Ecuador." There are rumors that he is trying to seek asylum in Haiti or Mauritius.

Not to sound like a non-believer but projects like this tend to die a natural death because of certain fundamental structures that needs to be put in place before making such bold move. The promoter of this new country for one I don't know his antecedents, neither is he popular enough to even attract the attention of the local government he is currently residing because I don't see an individual no matter the number of followers he has, would be bold enough to declare such in a sovereign country and not have a day with the law of the land but now I think the internet has made things easy but that does not exclude him. Time will tell though.

Not really a country without territory. Last I heard from Roger Ver's on project, he's still looking for land to buy, assuming any country would be willing to sell land that they'd lose sovereignty over.
In the meantime, just treat this project with caution like with any new investment. I'd be wary of the guy just based on his status with the police. But then again, this movement can turn out like Mormonism and being an early adopter pay off later.
