Consider what happens when someone buys your account. It’s not much different than someone who hacks into your account, and you don’t realize it. You’ve spent months, and maybe years building your account and lots of people on the board have seen your account. Perhaps they even know who you are. The new account holder happens to be a shyster who’s operating a business to steal people’s money through Bitcoin. Your once legitimate account where all of your friends kept in touch with you is now being used to tout an illegal operation as legitimate. Your friends think the account is still yours, and they send you a private message, but instead of it being you who receives the messages, the shyster receives them and replies with rhetoric. He’s able to convince your friends to use his service and steals their money, and your friends now despise you as they think you stole their money.

This should be the way to go obviously, not buying accounts. With the current situation however some are tempted to buy. It is not easy for a person to get to high ranks with the merit system. This just favors older users.

Account sale have always been a problem. We should hopefully see them die out as most people will be outpriced by the increasing prices because of the difficulty of getting merit. Which means the account farmers cant farm millions of accounts to sell.
Then I am afraid that this does not solve the problem. Some guys will become millionaires.

What i also find paradoxal and also ironic is rule you mentioned that should be edited to:

Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed but you will be tagged if catched
There are a number of members here who don't agree that account buying & selling should be allowed, and Theymos is apparently indifferent about the dissenters expressing their opinions through negative feedback.  That's what accounts for the "paradox" that you see.

I would ask if OP has any evidence of someone getting scammed, and I'd suggest he encourage his friend to open up a scam accusation if he does.  Just saying someone got scammed doesn't really mean anything, though I pretty much don't doubt it happened.  Scammers know how desperate people are to get their greedy, shitposting hands on a high-ranked account and they can and do take full advantage of that.

I feel pity for your "friend" but well that's what he deserves for being opportunistic (seems primari6 because of money) Grin.

Actually, there is nothing wrong if you are joining signature campaigns as long as you're not acting like a cancer cell here inside and work really hard from the beginning 'til you make it there. But saying that you coming from nowhere will buy an account to just earn as easy as 1-2-3 and don't care at the essence of this forum and cryptocurrency as a whole, I am definitely against with it because it's really unfair for the others.

Tell your friend to find another means of earning money, not here in the forum. But if he really insist then tell him to start from the very beginning, study and experience what we encountered — there is no shortcut for success.

Greed ruins lives  Grin

People think they will earn twice or thrice the amount they invest in buying an account in a signature/bounty campaign in about a month or two, without thinking about the consequences they might face during the process of buying it, or even in the process of using it afterwards. An account bought is either used for scamming other people, or for participating in bounties/campaigns to earn money, both of which won't last long for the person who buys it because they will either get caught for being a scammer or get tagged for being a spammer assuming the person behind the bought account would most likely be pretty much inexperienced to meet the quality requirements of today. Either way, the buyer would be in loss, even if he manages to successfully buy it, which is what did not happen in the case of your friends.

I feel bad for your friends for losing their money and getting scammed, but I'm also happy for the forum to not get some other bounty spammers hidden in higher ranked accounts, if that was their intention.

Well, my friends have been in trap and lost money from buying legendary and hero accounts. Thus, I write this topic to notice with all of you that please build your profile yourself instead of buying. They are all scam and cheat.

Your message will be much more important if you and your friend will say and better would make screenshot how he tried to and from whom he tried to buy fake account for this forum. If this person has an account administrators in the right to block it.

The fact that the network is full of scams for a long time is not news and how you did not know the free cheese only in a mousetrap. Sell account character or legend for 100-200 dollars is ridiculous. Only one signature in this position can earn thousands of dollars for one company. Learn from your mistakes and do not repeat them.

Sadly most of the people selling accounts these days are either hackers or just scammers who don't even have any accounts for sale in the first place and are just trying to fleece people. The account selling market is already a shady underworld and most escrows won't get involved so that just increases the chances of being scammed. I really think it's time to disallow account sales here or at the very least allow users to purchases the benefits of the ranks with Silver and Gold Memberships etc. It's win win. People will then stop buying them from scumbag hackers, farmers and scammers and instead they get a clean account that is rightfully there's and the money goes to the forum instead. We can put that money to good use. Either use it to finance worthwhile projects that benefit the community or the world or just give it all to charity. Where is the negatives in that exactly? There isn't one as far as I can see and everybody is better off.

Out of interest, how much did they lose here and what accounts scammed them?
Yeah it should be reported instead of posting awareness here in the forum though it is also good to post a kind of thread like this but still the account that was being used to scam your friend must be reported so that someone can put a re trust on him/her. Putting red trust is enough for a wise man to avoid the one with  red trust in trading.

Are you trying to give us advice? Because actually we already knew that and also buying or selling accounts are not encouraged by the forum rules. If you were trying to give advice then it's not necessary, you should save it for yourself bud or tell it to your friend. But if you posted here to complain about your friend that has been scammed by an account seller then there's nothing we can do about it. We all knew that buying an account is discouraged and may be against the rules but your friend still tried it so it’s his/her fault.

The good thing is, your friend finally learned a lesson.

Yeah, although I told him a lot, and finally, money told him and flew away

This leads to a basic question: why accept bitcointalk accounts as collateral in loan deals? If someone didnt get paied in loan, then what to do with the account if having no chance to sell or use it as it will be red tagged if tracked?
In my opinion, using bitcointalk accounts in any kind of traffic (sell/buy/loan...change hand) should not be acceptable and could be defined as a clear rule.
What i also find paradoxal and also ironic is rule you mentioned that should be edited to:

As far as I'm aware accounts are not accepted in collateral for loan deals. The only thing I see being accepted is the "reputation" associated with the account. Users believe the account owner because of the reputation associated and doubt the owner with run away with the money when he can, for example, make $150 a week through signature campaigns(if it's a high ranking one). Of course, this depends on the money and doing your due diligence that the account in question wasn't hacked recently.

If someone looking to be high rank member just through money then they deserves some lesson so they already go that,so now they understand that building your own account will e better than buying someone's account since most accounts were hacked from the users and sold by them.Even if you bought it from a legit account seller the accounts will get red tagged if get caught so you are simply wasting your money.

If you can provide the details of the account seller then he also will get taged if you can provide solid details that he scammed you.

In the rules it says...

18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

You can sell accounts however it has been discouraged. So, IMO the community decided the best practice for buying/selling accounts which is to tag both buyer/sellers.

This leads to a basic question: why accept bitcointalk accounts as collateral in loan deals? If someone didnt get paied in loan, then what to do with the account if having no chance to sell or use it as it will be red tagged if tracked?

I know it. Thus, I don't do in that way. However, with newcomers, or someone like my friends will spend money on this. Not only my friends, there are many people out there believe in selling account on bitcointalk.

LMAO, you guys really having a hard time ranking up because of the merit system. And you think that you can outright buy Hero and Legendary account to save you time? There's no such thing as shortcuts in life. You need to work hard so instead of buying why don't you start your account from 0 and see how it goes for you. And I think you know that buying account here is discouraged and frowned upon by the community. So there's no one to blame but yourself.
