You wouldn't loss unil you sell. I think you should believe in ETH cause it's the best altcoin at the moment although price of ETH is being very low because of downward trend but maybe at the end of this year when bearmarket over, everything will be better. I think you should keep holding and wait till the end of this year or maybe early of next year.
there are still many who make mistakes like you, I myself have bought ETH when the price is higher than you and until now it still keeps it until the price can return to its highest number or until the price can be higher when we buy it.

if you don't believe in ETH anymore you always can buy some coin that has collapsed too but you see huge reasons for it to rise, since most of decent alts have trading pairs against ether

You only lose if you sell and I strongly believe that ethereum is going to recover in future. We are too early in predicting continuously going down and not recover. Ethereum was once selling above $1450 and if you buy at $450 is not a mistake or bad investments decision. You just need to keep holding in other to be able to sell above your purchase price. There is no way you can accurately predicting ethereum or bitcoin price and the market move in your favor but it will always move in your favor if you can be patience and having a long term view in mind.
Whatever you have held just keep the patience and hold until you gain. As, you are talking about the ETH let you know that Ethereum has wide use for the token creators and the blockchain is in heavy demand. Due to the current market new which is unfavourable of the crypto so keep quite and invest more if you want. Even, in $200 price ETH is not so costly.

I think you didn't make mistake because ETH is the most reliable coin after BTC and it is widely use for ICO project. I have a strong believe on ETH and i believe that it will reach again new value within 2019. So i suggest you that, if you don't need emergency money so please hold it untill on June, 2019.
I just want to know why you bought 40 eth? That is so many for you if don't understand about trading. That lot of money, I suggest you for the next time, just buy partially until you get the bottom.

I advise everyone to keep eth, not to panic. and I tell everyone that this is a long-term investment (2-3 years). previously, we have seen such a decline in the market. but it is cyclical, and profits are not far off.

At this moment bearish market are not end, i suggest extend your patience wait for the price stablization or cryptocurrency markets. Selling today aren't advisable because a lot of loses you can got in your investment, but only you can decide what is the best for you.

The subject title seems to misleading to your own problem, but anyway, $450 is still not that big if we do talk it on the last year price situation but today its a loss to sell it for $150 or less, you should hold it and don't start something that you might regret in the future. But if you do need that money then it's up to you to sell it or find another way for the money that you needed.

if you want still trade you can use margin trading, in poloniex bitfinex or another exchanger support margin trading
Better to take a risk because after that you will get benefits from ethereum which is high profit. Because if person sell their ethereum they will not get profit because you will not see the price to increase. Don't mis the opportunity to buy and keep more ethereum that you have.

Don't see ETH reaching $150 unless there's issues across the overall market, price has remained steady the last months and I expect that to continue until there's a change towards an upward trend. ETH is a strong buy right now IMO so I wouldn't be selling if I held any.

You better hold that ETH until 2020 because I am pretty sure that it will reach an all time high next year or by 2020. Ethereum 2.0 is near to come and it may hold a surprise that may pump its price so you better hold these 40 ethereum you had. Investment takes time to take a profit and a price correction is inevitable so what happened to ETH price is normal which also happened to other altcoins. Remember, ETH always follows BTC foot steps in price movement and also gains bigger based on what I observed.
