Ripple facilitates fluidity of bitcoin (and other currency), it is complementary to it, think of Ripple as a clearance system that allows you to instantly send any currency to anybody. It certainly sets the bar high. You can't really compare Ripple and Bitcoin, the two are very different. You can compare XRP and BTC of course, but that's not what you're doing, is it?
