I would agree that we do not need new altcoins if existing altcoins had work products or at least were as technologically advanced as possible, but this does not happen and existing projects die. I think that we need to clear the market of dead coins and only then create new coins that will be needed

The last month, never mind the last few days, have been rather trying for cryptocurrenhttps://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/cies. Bitcoin, at the head of the ecosystem, has fallen substantially, but overall, it is the smaller cryptos, with lower market caps, that appear to have taken the brunt of the bearish turn.

Bitcoin’s own market dominance has been falling in the past few months, almost its price. However, the threat of an altcoin season has far from been realized, as BeInCrypto has previously touched on. In fact, it was pointed out by cryptocurrency analyst Joseph Young (@iamjosephyoung), that the smaller market cap coins have been hit the hardest in this latest drop.

It looks like the altcoin season might take a very long while to happen. We are now in the “shitcoin” season. Do you agree guys?

When you mentioned "shitcoin season" it got me laughing 😁 but honestly that's what we are in presently looking at the dwindling market situation. Sometimes I scroll through telegram groups which were super active before token sale and during token sale, now dormant and dumping ground for spam posts. Most projects are built on lie, false claims, greedy developers who will do anything possible to lure in investors, then when they achieve their funding aim, they bounce. That's the more reason why we should be extremely careful when investing in some of these altcoins.

There are still coins positioned on the top 100 on CMC, which is rather useless compared to lower ranked coins who didn't rank themselves through an ICO.

ICO's in 2017 was just a way for most people to make a quick flip on the pump that was caused after the big launch. Check Dentacoin, $12 mio. marketcap, compared with Blocknet who launched the first working DEX, will be able to oraclize data both on blockchains, and real world applications, actually much much cheaper than Chainlink.

A LOT of good and promising projects goes unnoticed these days, but if you're able to find them, and invest in them near the bottom, you're in for some massive gains, once they release their key products which everyone have been waiting for.

These useless ICO money grabs needs to die off, with only a few of them surviving (like BAT for example).

First of all, you need to understand that out of the 10,000+ cryptocurrencies (coins/tokens) out there, less than 1% are useful. The remaining 99% are completely useless for any purpose and that's why we call them as "shitcoins". Obviously they will survive for sometime as the promoters may try to pump the prices. But once this manipulation period is over, the currency will lose its value and it will become completely worthless in a matter of few months. And this is what is happening to the smaller coins right now.

Don't get fooled by dumping the coins you have with good trading volume, the price in USD may drop to less than cents but you may wanna check the satoshi value it had for months, if it hasn't changed much, there could be no need for you to dump anymore. And since it still is traded well, you'd rather be investing to it. The price is USD changes a lot but price in BTC could just be what it was for months.

~snip~

This phenomenon has been consistently observed ever since after Bitcoin code was forked and grew even worst on the advent of ICO's especially during the 2017 bull run since shitcoins have no where to go but down the drain!

I understand that the crypto space right now is very saturated with crypto projects in which most of them are shitcoins that have no signs of improvement or abandoned or has been developed by fly by night devs - all of which all are bound to fail sooner or later!

Perhaps, this is no surprise at all if we consider that some good altcoins with remarkable development did suffer also from the  bearish trend of 2018 that until now, most of them have suffered a loss more than half of its ATH and still showing no signs of robust recovery as per the crypto market data.

Surely, science 2017 there are absolutely no changes on the market, altcoins are falling deeper and deeper with every single day. Every single IEO/ICO that goes live is garbage and cannot even collect their soft cap.

I don't know if the altcoin season will happen again as it was already ended way back in 2017. I don't want to expect anymore, but I still want to believe in altcoins especially the TOP 10 which proved their successful developments. Shitcoins will surely rekt you, so you better have the capability on identifying potential projects and could run for the long term.

Accept the fact that we are in shitcoin season and even all strong altcoins are losing value but my strong mind remains the same, for how long will this keep up? its reality for coins to bring huge value today and bring biggest loss tomorrow, i never expected things to always go smoothly because that is not reality

In the end if there are no more investors for ICO, or none of their sales are successful, then the Shitcoin season will end, only the remaining rubbish from shitcoin airdrop. The altcoin season is not connected with them in certain cases and only for coins with strong implications from their community that will remain superior.
The ICO trend ended already and i dont think there still people want to invest in any . Investors have idea already what will happen to thier money if they do, so better not to invest than tryng and lost for making a wrong decision.
They are always making a new way  just to make money from coins and tokens but for ico and airdrop they cant make it again.
Investors already stayed away in ICO or new projects even in IEO. It's getting harder for startups to join in crypto. What I think project should do is to get private investors impressed them and try to be listed in exchanges once they already have full product that can run for long in these volatile type of market as new projects ICO are really considered shitcoins now.

That's how nothing is consistent now in a project they are just in the beginning just excited but after they are no longer active and the coins become shitcoin,
Now I see that ICO is rarely used by their projects, they only use IEO for sales, but the cheap exchanges they choose will have no reaction to investors but are reluctant to visit them.

No doubt that these shitcoins are coming from failed and scammy projects. I honestly believe that 99% of these projects have failed and silently abandoned.

I have encountered a lot of these, like after these projects have finished their token sale and distribution, they would slowly start to get quiet until fully abandoned. It is why these abandoned shitcoin Telegram groups are now full of spam advertisements.

The cycle continues, and it is difficult for others to stop their scamming tactics. I honestly believe we do not need new altcoins anymore, as they would end up getting dragged down after listing in exchanges. Most of us would prefer converting our altcoins into Bitcoin or Ethereum, as the future of altcoins (turning into shitcoins later on) are definitely uncertain.
so that is why many of the bounties in this forum show a lot of projects whose origins are unclear, I believe it is also the same as the new shitcoin that was launched again, in my wallet there is nothing of value from the work as a bounty hunter, because prices are destroyed and have no exchanges, dead projects don't develop and teams don't have capital so they make shitcoin useless, I believe bitcoin and some old altcoins are much more interesting than recently, I am still in the shitcoin season and I will keep getting shitcoin at any time. if we don't avoid it, the competition is very tight some projects that rely on funds from ICO or IEO will surely die and become shitcoin

That hurts more if it is from a forced soft cap.

Started with ICO, gained smaller than what they imagined. Still tried to make it happen. Paid a known exchange expecting a boost could happen.
Did not, it goes orange.
Given one more week and maybe it will be fruitful.
Did not, goes red.

Investors crying in a corner.
Hate to say it, but it does happen.

It's too easy to make a coin or a token to make shitcoins flood the market. Anyone can create a project and sell it or publish it through aidrop.
As a bounty hunter I've seen so many shitcoins projects, developers try to sell their coins at all costs and then quietly leave the project.
I have not invested in new projects since 2018, my strategy now is to make lots of Bitcoin and wait until the end of 2020. I think Bitcoin will reach a new peak by the end of 2020.

You will get REKT, the same as all the people that think like you. BTC is never ever going to succeed.

If we look at current market conditions, indeed if it is estimated that the altcoin season requires a long time and I personally do not predict that the altcoin season will occur next year, maybe a few years later but of course we who are here want that the altcoin season comes as soon as possible, maybe it could happen if there are factors that support this and for now I think to focus on how we can survive and generate profits from cryptocurrency even if only a small amount of profit.

Actually the top 100 at CMC is still dominant and has the potential for the future, tends to follow the price of bitcoin and the volume is quite stable. your opinion about a new project that is growing but there is no fan who is called shitcoin. adoption of the use of crypto will continue to grow and remain in need today. altcoin is still needed, because it is a real source of use or crypto-world life, without which it is difficult to grow to the present. Projects that fail are mostly teams that are not solid and the products they manage are less attractive or there are no new ideas (only copy the previous project).

Most one invest in new projects? how many old altcoins failed this year? none! so many projects of today are no doubt money grabbers but very few of them are good, i don't bother myself when altcoin season will return, as far as my portfolio consist of solid projects i am ready for the long wait.
