In short term trade needs too many experiences only expert can make a profit from short term trade. Everyone doesn't have balance as like as you, need a big amount of asset to make a profit from short term trade which is more riskier than long term trade. But in the end, I love short term trade.

Short term trading which is usually done as Day-Trading is profitable but it takes another level of expertise in cryptocurrency to become successful on this field. It requires the trader to be able to do market analysis based on the trending market information, ability to read the various trading candles and interpret etc. Long term on the other hand requires not the investor to stay glued to the PC on a 24/7 basis to monitor the trend. What matters most here is patience.
I think that I disagree with your points a little bit, and most of the things you said here are for short term trading and long term trading which I think that investment a little bit differ, quote me if I am wrong, if you look at the analysis that the op gave as how some people bought some coins at a particular time, some made decision to sell it In a short term, meaning, as soon as they see a particular increase, they sell without caring if it will grow further or not, and such increase may not happen in a day, it could be for a week, a month or maybe within 6 months, depending on how the coin performs.

A long term investors is typically going into the investment for a period called years, and these type of people are the ones that do wait till the coin really reaches its peak like the way some people have invested in bitcoin now and waiting till it becomes 1 million dollars before they can withdraw their money.
Based on what you said, it seems that long term investing is better than short term investing. I am a pro bitcoin and I am also a long term investor. I really believed that bitcoin has a lot of potential in terms of adaption and also to its price. Blockchain technology will revolutionize the world and once it happens, the price of the major cryptocurrencies will spike up and that is when I am going to sell my cryptocurrency portfolio and just retire as rich as hell.

Long term investment usually have get much profit with short term only get little profit, many investor hold their asset more than one year and take profit with higher percentage, I want to be holder because can get double profit with bitcoin and altcoin I hold, when bitcoin price my altcoin will go on to higher price, I want to invest and long term with good altcoin.
You need to use several strategies. have long-term investments and also trade on the daily chart if you can and on the weekly or monthly. in this way you can always be provided with profit

In my opinion, I do not like to wait for so long to get benefits from the crypto market. On the other hand, there is uncertainty regarding cryptocurrency. Not all the coins will survive. In short term investment, I can sell my coins for profit and buy another coins instantly as I wish. So short term investment is preferable for me.

Different coins,different strategy.

For bitcoin,Ethereum these mainstream coin,long-term holding is better choice.

For some new coin and projects, need to spend more time to follow the news, and follow the trend.

In general, long term investing with solid projects is the best choice, because basically you can not predict exactly what will happen next in such a fully new industry.

Good projects still face some accident, such as Ethereum DAO,if you can not believe the ethereum team, and left after the attack, you surely will lose money.

So,HODL seems the best strategy if you are not a professional trader.

The best way is splitting ur portofolio into investing and trading, i reccomended half or 50% for investing. And the other half is for daytrading, or if you're not a good trader enough , you can just keep 40% the rest , and try using the 10% for trading practice

Trading in the current market as an amateur is suicide. Bitcoin is now traded in a narrow corridor 8200 - 8500, it’s worth not guessing the movement several times, and you will lose money.
It is better to do as you said, invest 50% in the short-medium-term, and invest the remaining 50% in other than the crypto market.

If the current market situation is better we invest in the long term because it will definitely be profitable, but you have to choose a coin that has the potential, but if you invest in the long term we must have a fairly large capital, so it all depends on which of us is better for our use.

Short term investing is sometimes fruitful but risky at the same time so I don't recommend playing with all of your money in short period. Rather invest like 50-60% money in long-term comparatively stable coins like EOS, BTC and play with rest of the money in shorter day-trading periods.
If you know what you're doing short term trading can be incredible profitable, that has never been up to question the problem with that style of trading is that is by far the most difficult, you need to watch the markets very attentively and the difference between getting profits and getting losses can be of a few seconds and I am not exaggerating, so many day traders despite their skill eventually give up on it and become long term traders just because it is easier.

for an ordinary beginner will make a short-term investment. because the nature of a new investor is easy to panic and quickly satisfied when something happens to their assets.
like when it increases it will not wait to sell and make a profit. likewise when there is a decrease will feel panicked and immediately sell losses.
but to determine the long term or short term, it all depends on the chosen asset.

I prefer long-term investment rather than using short-term. As the OP said already long-term investment can make you rich and happy which I am doing.

In my opinion, I prefer long term investing rather than short term. Long term always pays off than the short term. Lots of people don’t like the long term investment because a lot of patience is required. Like it is being said a tree doesn’t bear fruit the same day the tree is planted. You have to stay patient in order to get the bigger profit.

in determining a period of time, I myself choose to see how the market situation. if current market conditions are not good maybe I will try long-term investment and by buying a coin that has the potential and has a low price. This may in the long run make a big profit for investors
this is the best strategy for the market that we see now. if you have money to invest now, then choose long-term investment but always monitor the market to be aware of what is happening
If you have time to wait long term, you can allocate some amount of money to long term bt short term should also be chosen in order not to miss the opportunities in the market. As long as you have enough knowledge and experience, why not evaluate it. For long term trading you only need to investigate and wait once but in the short term this is repeated almost everyday. If you have enough power to trade daily, try it.

Long-term investments need to be considered many times because this is an investment that can make you wait very long and if the market continues its downtrend, you risk losing more money. In my opinion you should choose the top coins to reduce risk because these are the coins that have great stability in this market and if there is a big news appearing, that coin will increase very quickly.

There may be times when you will feel very depressed when investing in the long term but if you have good patience then anything can happen.
Long term investment may be hard for some investor, they find it depressing to see their money to decrease its price and it result of panic selling. They tend to lose half than to lose everything.
They dont know the true concept of investing where it will take a lot of time to make a profit when investing a money in crypto.
We prefer long term investment because it is beneficial and it gives us a lot of opportunity to sell at a higher value than short term investment.

You're talking about trading guys. not investment. please learn between trade and investment. might have something in common. but this is different from time. investing is buying and making sales targets with more time than trading. while trading, is buying a coin, and selling when you see a profit. and there is no sales target time seconds, minutes, hours, if it's profitable then sell. other than this I prefer to trade. because as you explain. faster profits and don't wait long term.

I think short term investing doesn't sounds like you described on this thread, that is trading.
Short term investing means you need your time to hold your coin, but for short time like 3 months, or 6 months.
On the other hand, long term investing need 1 year or more, holding while the project keep developing and finally release their products.

I do prefer to short term invesment, doing it didn't says that your doing wrong your just wanted to have a money in short term. Most of us are prefers to long term investing but see the difference if you did a short term investment ,you can have money in a couple of minutes or hours without any doubt and us it as your fund while you are investing again to earn another profit to be exchange. But you can also do short term invesment when you have a high amount of fund into your account.
