If you are looking for short term profit altcoin then it is better to invest in ico's because the value of their coins are only high when it was still not released in the market but the best thing to do is invest in eth coins to earn more profit in the future.
It's quite hard to know which coins could turn more profit, but I think a lot of altcoins out there are outperform compared with BTC at this time.
For short-term profit, I think you could consider Burst, LBC, FUN, and ZEC. All of them increased not much from the few months bottom.

I agree with the points made by this user. It is truly difficult to predict which coin is profitable in the short term or long term and it all comes down to research and luck at the end of the day. Obvious point here is you must do your own research and invest in the coin that you trust and the rest is history. According to me, DeepOnion and Stellar Lumens are 2 amazing coins with huge potential and they can be quite profitable in the short term as well as long term. Let us know if you have any questions.

for short term my suggestion monero, dash, ethereum, and bitcoin, for the best you do daily trade, because altcoins has faster growth and decline, or you take 10 best coins in market, top coins so many people invest and will growth fast
Try Bitcoin Cash, it looks like its pumping can be used to invest or is suitable for a short term investment. But I think it's possible too on Eth and Ltc in particular, would be still experiences a higher price movements again within a week I guess.

Nxt is really good short term because there's an upcoming fork on 25th December so a lot of people will buy it to get ignis airdrop. Bittrex even support it so the price will rise even more in the upcoming days. Any suggestions?

If you are a wise investor it will good for you to invest in altcoin instead of bitcoin because the price of bitcoin is relatively high and the profit margin for this is slow as compared to the other coins i like to invest in ETH Digi coin and lite coin these are good for short term investment and it is good t have bitcoin as well but the buying is expensive for now. they are good in the crypto currency for making future.
There are a lot of altcoins there to choice and it is depend on you what to choice! in order not to blame other people in times if you loss.

So far, the hottest altcoin now was Xvg, ada, Rdd those are using pump I think. I just don't know if this is not too late for you to in, but you can try and invest in it, but do it at your own risk.

there are too many altcoins that will give you profits in the short term. for example, you can buy waves, iota, kmd, ethereum, monero, litecoin and another cheap coin. I can say like this because almost altcoin gives a sign to increase because bitcoin is already in the bottom so you choose any coin in the market. but you need to analyze by your own because not all suggestion that comes to you will give a good result in next weeks.
I suggest for invest in Bitcoin Cash, yeah we know the price now is very high and for yesterday in coinmarketcap increase until 67%, i think that's good for short term investment.
You will never what coins to invest in short term,you need deep technical analysis to do that,or upc.ming news or fundamentals.

On my personal experience short term investment in alternative coins is trading altcoins with use scalping strategy, it is mean we just take the profit around 5-10% from the capital to be used to investment based on the capital, i traded alternative coins on binance.com and bittrex, i choose ripple, waves, nxt ethereum classic ETC, BTG and another alternative coins that has up trend in couples weeks later. You just can make target how much the profit will be taken on couples weeks and always taking profit daily. Any suggestions?
