Others have done a great job of answering your question with regards to bitcoin mining, and bitcoin hedging. Something that hasn’t been mentioned here is investing your bitcoin, and earning interest on it, through p2p lending.

These are fixed income investments and (on the whole) provide far more security than price speculation. Basically, people with bitcoin can lend to people who need funding. This could be to grow or start a business, make a large purchase, or refinance loans.

It's up to you if you purchase bitcoin but for now I suggest that you should purchase bitcoin if the price is $2000 and below.

If you are thinking about purchasing Bitcoin, I recommend you not to thinking only in Bitcoin, but other important cryptocurrencies: Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple.

Try to be as diversified as you can and don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Should you buy bitcoin? If you try to find a solid answer to this question, you will probably just end up more confused. Answering the question means guessing where the price of Bitcoin is headed, and nobody who is being honest actually knows. So may I humbly suggest that asking if we should all buy Bitcoin is the wrong question, and that we should ask a different one instead. The question is does buying Bitcoin fit into my investment plan? That is a much more important question and one that we can all answer much more easily. It places the attention on the process of investing correctly and not on the outcome of events that we have no control over.

I got my last major bitcoin purchase at when it was 7k that flip when it hit 19k.  At which time I cash out to other ALT coins when they would penning per coin and now even those coins are worth more than my original purchase price.   Now consider it took like 2 years for this boom to happen but that was because everyone became aware and started buying like crazy.   This hold Tether scandal has newbies running scared.  So market takes a dive as expected and season vets will capture this moment.

This is just my personal opinion.

I read an interesting article today that compares bitcoin to the US dollar. Is bitcoin a fiat currency and am I in danger of losing my money?

http://bestcoldstoragewallets.com/bitcoin-contradiction/

i would just wait little bit but not much i think btc will rise again soon or later but we don't know when it will happens, i think  early spring is good time for btc to recover , say around another  couple month!
I agree with your opinion, we'd better wait and be patient with the conditions of today, this will be a long walk, but I'm sure maybe mid-year bitcoin will recover, and even be more than $ 45000 at the end of the year, so we'd better have to buy more bitcoin today. do not worry and do not be afraid!

Bitcoin is a digital currency and yes there’s a risk of losing money specially when you keep doubting about the technology of bitoin and you will end up selling at a loss when you keep on listening on a FUD news. Try to learn more and study the market, and you will surely ended up with a good decision.

Yes,you should purchase bitcoin now while price is getting lower because we really dont know, maybe sooner or later price will climb back again. Bitcoin price is volatile and it changed rapidly. So,don't waste your time just looking at the price,do your moves, buy now then hold and invest in bitcoin to gain more profit someday.

Not taking a risk is even a greater risk, despite the crypto market fluctuations, bitcoin still stands out. Purchasing bitcoin is a worthy investment, just keep monitoring your investment and watch it grow.

When compared to USD, bitcoin is a far secure currency free from deflation.Since bitcoin price has almost reached its older price range before ATH, it would be the best time to invest in bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not a fiat currency and its a decentralized currency which works only in internet. Its a risky investment but its free from deflation but USD is subject to deflation.

USD is in its last stage as a global reserve currency and bitcoin is the future currency.

well nobody knows when it will recover, it might be couple of days, couple of weeks, months or more. But eventually it will recover that is for sure. And if you do panic selling now, you will really regret. just be patient and don't be trapped!

If you are aiming to huge profit in a form of investment, I think it would be a good idea to invest in Bitcoin. Especially at this moment wherein its market value is low which is practically the best time to invest. Huge profit will be earned once its market value starts to increase. This time will be an advantage to invest in Bitcoin. Do not hesitate, Bitcoin's price is expected to be morw expensive in the future, so just invest to it.

Don't let doubts and fears lead your life, get to it and buy if you have the means to. Study the flow and learn from it's history and you will see why should we put some of our money into it.

There are good things that can be found in BTC or in cryptocurrency in large. For now it is diverted as most of the people who holds it are making more money(trading stuffs) rather than pursuing it's cause. We may not find what it promised us but I hope soon we will and see for ours selves and experience the successful revolution and liberating us from capitalization.

"If I asked a bitcoin investor how much is a bitcoin worth they would give me an answer in US dollars."

Maybe someday they'll ask how much a dollar is worth, and the answer will be in crypto?
