that s the million dollar question of the moment... ICO s are trustable of not? In my personal experience i had some successful ICO s and shit ones as well, but never got scammed. at least until now.. Smiley also i didn t participate in a lot of them, arround 3/4 per year...
First, Escrow in ICO is the "safety net" of it. Without it don t bother. Also you should read a lot about the project, investigate about it, gather knowledge where your money is going at. Trust able Devs and with previous knowned projects is half way to the sucess.
To avoid all the risk and to minimize lost, don t invest Btc on ICOs, instead invest time. Join bounties. They are also a nice way of avoiding scam ICO s.

I think that ICO was escrowed so they not escaped away with the people money and I saw that lauda will refund the funds of investors. So it is important to participate in those ICO which will have escrow and we do not need to stop investment in legit ICO as sometimes some legit ICO need us and we need the profit.

An escrow might help to prevent the promoters running away with the funds, but most scams are not so straight forward. You could have coins being sold at obscene prices in the ICO and the promoters dumping the coins as soon as they get a chance.

I fully think your proposal is the truth, I joint many ICOs in last year, and most of them are scams, or the price below ICO.(waves, rise) I did a nice winning in Stratis ICO, after Stratis ICO, I never touched any ICO, and I found my decision was 100% true. If I toughed another ICO, I would be broke again.  Cry Cry

What does a ICO mean exactly for a cryptocurrency?

It means Initial Coin Offering.

Recent ICO scam: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ascendancy-ipo-turned-into-a-scam-investigation-in-progress-1749935
Im sure that everyday we notice new ICO coins being created and some has an insane plans like for example $1 = 1 token LMAO!. My thoughts are if there purpose wasn't to scam but they do have the intention to collect the money all they can to secure their lives for a couple of years.

what are your thoughts?

They can't be moderated and they will just keep on creating new names of ICO's and other types of scheming to keep their shady way of earning.

Investing is really risky and because of these scams, this will make us more cautious upon investing in to such projects.

Yes,we do still need it and Devs do need it too thats why we should really be vigilant on ICO's so that we wont be victimized by ICO scams and i do really believe that putting up funds on escrow should really be a good indication because of this we could somehow assure that scams are impossible to happen.

For me, I can't. There are ICOS that has serious goal into development and success of their respective crypto. It's just that we can't really avoid to deal with that kind of fraud activity in the world of crypto. Also investors must now that kind of scam is present especially when investing in an ICO.

Win win situation indeed. Just put some money that is afford to lose. They can still get the advantage after analyzing that the coin will run for a longer period.
Stopping now just might deter a genuine project from taking off  and its a shame that some greedy individuals  are using this platform for personal gains and disappear in thin air when they get funded.
On the positive side of things investors will now have a better  approach of picking the right coins to invest in and  we shall also be able to smell a scam coin a mile away which won't allow such projects to take off.

In most cases, the ICO - it's a lottery ... I prefer to see a coin on the market ... If you invest in ICO, the very small amount of money - to be played ...

For some, ICO is still an avenue for making profits. The reason many projects failed investors or scam is because They're trying to create something that is already existing with no uniqueness.

There are still some really good ICOs around, PureVidz ICO investors have gotten X10 their investment in a short time. The ICO price per vidz was 100 sats but now 2K sats and the Project has gained a lot of attention. A new a Project will succeed because It was creating something new and exciting.

Even though, The Crypto Space has been poisoned by Failed and Scammy ICOs, ICO investing still remains one of the good way to invest.

We should be very much careful while investing in ICO.An altcoin ICO with fanciful graphics with no features of innovation, same old speculations,no transparency, no white papers is more than enough to say it as a scam.Donation based, Altcoin, premined are all red flags when investing in an ICO.Yet there are some altcoins like pesobit and Iconomi who got funded solely because of their solid road map and reputation.Today, 99% of ICOs are scam. If we invest in a scam ICO,we end up losing money. But,if we invest oj legit ICOs,we not only make money, but we will also feel proud that we have invested to kick start something which is going to change the world.

No, because the "big things" would not be supported.

I think icons will never stop, because people are greedy and invest in everything.

People must see what is a scam and what is the big real thing.

I do not suggest people should stop investing in ICO as this will kill innovation in crypto world but evaluate thoroughly before investing and check the people behind the project and of course their roadmap and whitepaper. These things can pretty give you idea if an ICO is genuine or not.

if you want buy ico selling youre must follow the rule
1 must use escrow, addres is control escrow, not dev control, must publish must sign message is addres full control in escrow hand
2 must quality dev

without escrow don't buy ico selling, is new accident ico selling and coin scam is ascedancy, use escrow but not full control, investor buy use dev addres, after receive to dev can sending to escrow addres is bad escrow system, because dev can still run bitcoin investor
In addition to that, any ICO offering to pay for its bounty with only its own coin instead of or with Bitcoin is susceptible to scam. No point participating in such campaigns and instead of investing in such ICOs, better to send the coins to some orphanage homes, where it would indeed bring smiles to people that genuinely need it.

I think thst people need to stop being idiots with their money and think about what they doing. Its nice to blame ICO fpr a problems the user created. Ypu support a shitcoin you will lose your money. There plenty legit coins people can use but they love to listen to and fall for scams that promise riches since they can't see through their self destructive greed. You get as you deserve.

Investing in ICO's are too risky. There was some projects which was very ambitious and promising, but everything eneded after ICO. Dev runaway with investment and then start another project. In mostly cases ICO's is just another way to scam.

The first rule when investing is to not invest in something you don’t fully understand, because if you don’t understand it then how do you know this is a good idea that can bring money? Most people investing in ICO are just speculating.

Maybe yes or maybe not. Its only depends on what ICO you want to invest. Some ICO are just scams and some are not. If you want trustworhy ICO, find an ICO which have escrows which protects the investors from being scammed. Some scam ICO usually dont have roadmaps and other details. Thats a signal for me to stay away from them.
