So So sick of Seeing People complaining about their accounts being Hacked,Stolen,Banned on here. People Obvioulsly can't read from previous posts that these accounts will NEVER Reinstated or given back. (With the Exceptions of a few)

Stop Whining about your shitty account being hacked...No matter what you do or how many E-Mails you send you Won't get them back. Next time stay off the BS Porn sites and stop opening those Fucking Blatent E-mails just begging you to be hacked.

Stop Begging to get your Shitty banned Accounts back....You fucked up and now you have to deal with it.

The Admins here(2) Don't give a rats ass about your complaints or problems. You will not get them back. Please stop begging.

Pathetic!

i just want to say the opposite.
If you really care about your old account just do what thyemos write in the sticky thread and be patience (even for months).

But it's important to understand that the admin are only 2 and they are busy...don't send too many pms!

I'm sort of tired of it too, because I think meta is one of the most interesting sections to read and to post in.

Any chance there could be a subforum created for people trying to get their hacked accounts back?  Seems like it might be useful and would reduce the clutter in meta.

Then there's the issue of why all these accounts are getting hacked in the first place.  I seriously doubt it's because of the previous database dump that happened a while back--but I might be mistaken.  I'm thinking a lot of people are getting phished with fake bitcointalk websites that ask for your login details.  You have to be careful with those things.  And I'm also wondering if it's a failure of Theymos and the security here, which does seem to be kind of lax--but I'm most definitely not a computer scientist and don't have the knowledge to evaluate that enough to make any accusations.  I am grateful this forum exists in the first place.  As bad as it can be at times, it's still a great forum and I've been a member here longer than any other forum I've registered at.

At some point I do agree with you. Why not create a certain section for all the hacked accounts. The problem here is that for me it is not being well moderated. The other main reason for it is that if the certain cased was resolved or being atleast investigated it would may lessen the posts in this section tho i doubt it to happen so really maybe create a section for it which I also thinks is not going to happen

If an user losses access to his account, but can cryptographically prove that he owns all the BTC addresses posted before the hack, there are no excuses to not give the account back to the owner providing all the proof. I've seen people getting their accounts back with signed BTC messages so don't act as if it's impossible.

Everyone can lose their email and end up with their account here hacked. Hell, even satoshi lost access to his gmx email, yet, he could prove it was him if he signed any of his addresses. That is the whole point of Bitcoin. If admins aren't going to accept BTC signed messages as enough proof then I would suspect something scammy is going on (the conspiracy of inside jobs selling accounts for instance). I don't think that's true but who is to say.

What I don't get is why aren't the admins trying to put a stop to account selling? Every day I see a bunch of people selling accounts, most of which are probably hacked.

Sadly most of them are likely hacked these days (though account selling was always a mostly shady, black market practice). I'm leaning towards it would be better just prohibiting account sales and trashing their threads to be honest. Many users aren't even selling accounts at all and will try scam people selling them in empty autobuy links. I regularly tag these people but they just come back on a new account and greedy idiots keep on falling for it.

A better solution I have suggested to combat account farming and essentially put a stop to account selling is to remove signatures from ranks completely. To get one users have to donate to the forum ie $50 for a Full Member sized signature and $100 for a Hero-sized one + other perks. If this was the only way people could get a signature it would stop account farming and account sales almost 100%. Instead of the money then going to some scummy account farmer or scammer the money would go to the forum.

Admins can't do anything in this regard. If theymos doesn't prohibit account sales by default, then the admins and mods just go with whatever the rules are. And as per the rules, you are free to buy and sell accounts.

It's basically a rule from the perspective that if people aren't allowed to buy and sell accounts here, they will move elsewhere with their "business", and thus there is no incentive to prohibit on-forum sales.

That being said, that however doesn't mean that nothing happens in terms of the community taking action. There are certain members tagging proven bought accounts with negative trust, so that's at least something.

I dunno about a sub board. Seems a bit ridiculous for one just for hacked accounts especially when they should just be PMing an admin about it. Creating a thread about it is just a last resort if admin's aren't responding really.

The vast majority are because people didn't change their passwords after the hack, though I'm sure it'll become more common via other ways with thousands of people eagerly downloading crapcoin wallets with malware or signing up via a crapcoin site that will infect your computer etc. To be fair, theymos couldn't have really done any more than he did with the way the forum was compromised and it was the hosting's fault for being tricked. It has since been changed to a different one I believe.

Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords

 #1
If you use any sort of Google email service, then the password recovery email will go to your spam folder.

If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

I very rarely recover accounts if you can't prove ownership as described above. There are alternative ways of proving ownership, but they take too much time. If I point you to this thread, you can't prove ownership properly, and then I ignore your future PMs, this means that I'm not going to recover your account. Create a new one.

Send one PM to Cyrus. If Cyrus doesn't respond after two weeks, you can try sending a PM to me instead. When sending a PM, use a template like this:

Quote
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to . The current date is .
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----

-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Here is the unedited post where I posted that address: ...
OR
I sent that address to someone in a PM with PM ID#...

All required info must be in one PM.

Do not create your temporary account using the same email address you want for the hacked/lost account. No two accounts can have the same email address.

So many Hacked/phished/Compromised accounts with Admins doing NOTHING. Just Crickets playing in the background.

When your Account is Hacked/Phised/Stolen/Compromised you should follow these instructions...According to Admins but in Reality it's  Cheesy Go fuck yourself!

Dissapointing one cannot have a decent thread to discuss, ou see more this kind of topics than something usefull
first of all this kind if post wont be happening if there would be no hacked accounts trouble. We dont even know the reason why our account was hacked.
Now this is an indeed useful topic cause we know how volatile our system is. What if the server would go down all of us will be known as a ghost forum did you get my point?

At least all the posts are on one board. Think how bad it would be if these threads were all over the other boards. Smiley

Ok i get it. I also do starting to accept it but atleast am tryin to get it fair that if I cant get my account back atleast the hacker cant used that one either.

Tho i am also hoping that you would experience the same thing so i could see if you were not to fcking beg as well

I wouldn't beg at all.   IF my account were to get Hacked I would let it go. My account has no Tied postings to any accessible BTC Address from the past. Every BTC Address I have ever used has become corrupt. My account is unprotected right now in a sense that i could not Validate it using any previously posted address.

It's just an account that you will never get back. Get over it and move on.
oh really then? Got the point you dont care lets make that as it is.

Tho still am doubtful that you wouldnt even tell yourself that you have invested time and effort for that account. Plus i just cant let hackers roam around the forum doing shitty things like scamming other users

Probably, because as I can see account that get back because it is being banned, hacked, and stolen are very rare to see right now in this forum and as I can see just 2% is high enough to be in that range. Admins do really care if they does, but as far as it goes it doesn't happen because it is on the owners negligence. I think the best thing to do is better secure their emails because if the hackers know it then account's vulnerability is at high, and those being banned is really on the copy pasting issue hope many realized all these problems since it happen as always. They should be aware of these things.

Nah if the Admins cared about their Fucking positions here instead of pocketing cash more people would be helped.

This problem lies solely on the FAILED Admins Shoulders  both previous and current. This problem goes years back. Even when Badbear was an "Admin"
