Signatures wearing isn't prerequisite to ranking nor merits, wearing of signature is just prior to participating in signature bounty campaign hence the need to wear their signature for your rank.
What needed to be done to rank up is making thoughtful and constructive posts on the forum to attract the merits giver

This is not the case. Signatures need to be added before participating in signature activities. This has nothing to do with Rank and Merit. If you do not attend, then you do not need to bother with it. By the way, friendship tips, only the forum rank can reach the JR Member can wear the signature.
Doing signature campaign is not compulsory for getting merit or rank. You get rank and merit from the posts that you make and the reason that you are seeing so many accounts is because people can make a lot of money from doing signature campaigns and since no one wants to miss out on the chance to get some free coins then everyone is pretty much doing bounty and signature campaigns

It's bounty programm, people just earn money. It's not compulsory, but you can try it if you want. Most of ICO need jr. member and above. You are newbie if you want to get jr. member rank, you need to make posts.
Not needed. You only have to put signature once you join a signature campaign to be able to promote the project you have join in, and wearing signature depends on your rank. To use avatar of the project you would like to promote to have to be atleast a Full Member to wear it. About merits as everyone said here, it would not be as easy as pie having/getting merits.
NO,it is not like this it is merit and rank are compulsory for signature, some companies allows to even Jr. member to wear signature and some other which have condition for at least member for signature, there are condition company wise,wearing signature is a beneficial work writing good posts about the company you have signature can upgrade you.
well it is not compulsory in fact i could choose any good signature i wanted to but it is better not to mind it anyway. It is nothing to do with you if just by dropping here is only to let you know or get an update with cryptocurrency. I think it's not mandatory to have signature on profile. its totally depend on the preference of individual. according to my opinion signature is not mandatory to upgrade to profile rank but if you want to upgrade your rank you must have keep daily activities according to bitcointalk.org requirements.

It is needed in signature campaign because this is one of the way to promote or advertise your campaign however you can do this by creating a good quality post here in bitcointalk forum thread. Putting a signature in your profile is not compulsory to earn merits and to rank up unless you are participating in a signature campaign.

Wearing a signature is not compulsory, but it's just on you own decision. If you want to join on a campaign then you should wear the required signature according to your rank. And when it comes to merit it's nothing to do with rank. Merit is given to you by any users who find your post interesting. It's like and upvote.
Signature is not necessary for either rank or merit. You see so many signatures because it does not hurt to earn while you write, which you are doing anyway. There is just too much unnecessary suspicion in the correlation between signatures and posts, for ranks and merits ensure quality posts, and if it pays along the way, why not.

This question should have been posted in the Beginners & Help section and not here. No. It is not mandatory to have a signature or an avatar (or even a personal text). But in many cases campaigns may be ready to pay you good amounts of BTC or tokens, if you keep their signature or avatar.

The signature does not affect the merit of your rank. People are involved in bounty campaign and put signature advertising in order to get some coins.

In case you didn't notice, I'm wearing a signature too. So I didn't say that wearing a signature is bad as such. But the fact remains that I there are countless threads whose sole purpose is to inflate the number of post required by the campaign. And you can't even read these threads, because most of the posts are meaningless. Check the post quality before judging.

I don't see how. It would be the case if the campaign managers selected the participants based on their earned merits, but a vast majority of managers select the participants just by rank, not merits.

You would add a signature when you take part in a Signature Bounty campaign, and retain the signature with your profile until the campaign has ended. That way each post you make you are effectively advertising the project around Bitcointalk

Especially members with signatures who abuse the forum with meaningless one-liners and posts of low quality. If you want to rank up and earn some merits, you have to to try to post quality posts that benefit other users. it is not compulsory to put an signature to your profile, but if you join signature campaign it is now the time that you need to put there signature to your profile, depending on your rank. by ranking up you need to reach the certain cap of every rank, but in the higher rank you will need the merit now. earning merit is not as easy as you know. you need to post a high quality post or reply that could help this forum. try to read that in the beginner and help tab then newbies read before posting tab. its all stated there.
