Hi there,

I'm finding sites like this one:
http://freesatoshibit.com/

That seem to give free Satoshi if I go there every X seconds...

Are these potentially dangerous?

Let's set aside for a minute the sillyness of wasting time on these sites. It could be fun just to see the "plunk" of a satoshi into a new wallet I'm testing, for example.

well that is a faucet for claiming every hour or minutes. There is a scam site and also there is a legit that will pay you. Its not dangerous at all but you will not be satisfied for claiming cents in value of bitcoin. This is only be dangerous if they will be asking for your private key for payout lol. Anyway this isnt worth your time.

Not worth your time and you don't know if they have been infecting malwares along the way. Remember that there as sites right now that takes advantage of your browser. They are called, browser-based mining malware. So if I were you I will stay away from that kind of websites.

Being a newbie, its fun to claim in faucets. But as you mature enough its not really worth it. There are other ways to earn bitcoin here. So listen to our advise and get out of it while its early.

No danger can be found through faucets but if they are requiring you to put some information about your email, password, etc. and other important details that should be kept private.

Ask yourself if those are legit, the danger starts with those demands but if these faucets are only asking for your bitcoin wallet address so that they can send your free satoshi.

You don't have to worry about it as claiming with faucets are safe all the time even it's not worth anymore.

It's not dangerous, especially if you get the links for the faucets off an official faucet rotator you shouldn't be experiencing any issues with the actual site itself in terms of viruses or whatever. You're not investing anything either.

Only thing is that you're wasting a lot of your time.

Probably better off working a part time shift at Mcdonalds than doing this, but i mean for the satisfaction of seeing some coin in your wallet, why not.

Not really, that is called faucet, and that site is building reputation, the reputation is used for attracting advertiser, but for precaution, I dont used my main email and used random password ( if the registration requires both of the things), just make sure that the site is real not some sites that want to collect personal data

The faucet websites, themselves are not dangerous at all. What could be dangerous are the ads that they are displaying. Everytime you click the button to claim free satoshis, the faucet website automatically redirects you to another website that an advertiser is promoting. This website could be another faucet, an investment website like HIYP or anything like that but it could also be a website that reads informations from your browser like passwords you used. Most of faucet owners verify websites they promote but hackers can anyway add viruses. So there is a risk involved in faucets even if it is very low

no it's not dangerous at all. I've been working in faucets for about year I think so I can say that it is legit, although claiming satoshi doesn't give you that much earning but it is really safe and enjoyable too.
There are some legit and scam too what faucets do you work on over a year now? Better to share it but not recommended a refferal just put the site link and help them for vague features to that so we can earn more and help someone in need.

these sites are called "faucets" as others mentioned, and these days these sites force you to disable your ad blocks and they will require you to enable things such as JavaScript and even if they don't do it themselves, the ads they are running on their website  can be malicious. these can run scripts through your browser which can even infect your computer, download a malware on your system and lots more.

not to mention these days with the popular browser mining scripts you may even be giving them more than you bargained for! they can easily abuse your computer hardware to mine cryptocurrencies through your browser when you visit their website. which can damage your hardware too.

the other obvious danger which was also mentioned but not completely is "dust". when you claim these small amounts from faucets, you are filling your wallet/address with small transaction outputs. when you want to spend your bitcoins (what you earned) you will end up wit ha huge transaction size in byte and you will have to pay a lot of money (fee is satoshi / byte) to spend them.

No it's not dangerous. It's just a casual faucet that giving free satoshi, there are many sites like this though. Most of the faucets owner also get profit from the ads. Faucet is not dangerous usually but it's really wasted your time because the amount is really small even its free.

Faucet doesn't looks dangerous, but there are some risks. I'm not talking about this faucets exactly, but more about faucets in general:
Some faucets aren't legit. After reaching payment treshold, you won't get paid and it means that you waisted time while claiming from that faucet.
If you register on scam faucet with your email, faucet owner may sell database of users emails and then you will start getting spam to your email inbox.
Nowadays many faucets have hidden Monero miner which are using your CPU for maining. If you using laptop or old PC and leave faucet window open for longer time, your device may overheat.
And some faucets have malicious ads, popups inffected with virus or auto downloads.

How could they became dangerous if they are giving out some free bits by not requiring any password or anything confidential to their users? But if they ask you to register nor ask some private keys nor either required you to download something then you must be alerted unto that since you can define this as shady act. But if they will just ask to put your btc addy on their site so that they have an direct point to send your free bits then you are in safe site since the one they are aftering is the traffic/visits.

Most faucets but basically all of them dont give out enough money to be the any humans time but if you want a safe one just go to somewhere like primedice and get free satoshi to bet with.  When one of the free bets finally comes in you can withdraw.

That's reliable idea about not giving enough money because with my experiences with faucets and other apps online, it really doesn't gives us profit. I think if we go to gambling, the most dangerous about is you may lose even more compared on how you excert effort for the generated coins from faucets. Although there's a free coins to bet for, its not right to have that kind of activities because in a long run you'll bet using your personal funds.

They are giving free satoshi's so what's the danger out there? It's the scheme of those faucets that are giving out free satoshi's just to get more visitors and claimers.

And once they got a lot of visitors that's the time for them to start getting to their business of having some advertisers now as it's the start of their popularity. Advertisers will just get into their faucet and they can keep on giving out free sats.

A newbie that is posting like this, most of the time newbies doesn't really care if they are dangerous or not as long as it will give free satoshi right? Are you trying to advertising this website? If you think that there's nothing to gain on this website then simply just leave them alone. Since you are already knew the answer as you give your own suggestion on this site already as you stated.
Let's set aside for a minute the sillyness of wasting time on these sites.

It could be "dangerous", if you use same password for each site. I don't know this faucet, but usually you get satoshis for looking ads (fe solve captcha). They work like paidmailers. But earnings are very low.  You can find many sites (faucets) like this one in microearnings section.

Faucet sites were functioning from the start, most of them are totally legit and not dangerous at all. You just should watch out for sites that want you to give up any personal data, keys, send them a transaction to confirm your account, stuff like that. If all they want from you is your address there's no way the worst thing that can happen is they won't pay up.

I don't see why they can be "dangerous" as you don't need to deposit any amount or give them any information besides your bitcoin address anyway. Also, bitcoin faucets are pretty much useless now with the high transaction fees. You would be solving captchas all day only to earn enough bitcoin to pay for the transaction fee itself.
